Guy with a gun holding a protest sign at presidential town hall
So, NBC cameras noticed a holster and a handgun on some guy who is protesting at a town hall today in new hampshire. It's on church private property, and in new hampshire it's 100% legal to have a non-concealed weapon on private property with the property owners permission.
The president will be there in an hour to speak at the town hall meeting. Does this scare you? Does it bother you that radical extremist groups are encouraging people to attend these meetings and shout down the speakers? Does it further bother you that many of these groups are funded by the most profitable insurance and pharma. companies in the country? Change is not easy, but mixing incitement to riot with handguns on church properties where the president will be... just scares me a little bit. Howz about you? |
churches should be taxed and not allowed to mix in politics.
|
isnt pharma all for this plan?
|
i suspect that private property or not..that guy is not around when the president shows up..lol

Amen! :2 cents: |
So if Obama shows up it suddenly becomes illegal? lol I don't see a problem with a lawful citizen exercising his rights. And umm since he is protesting against obama suddenly its all "fringe" groups? So were all the Bush protesters that acted like idiots in NYC fringe groups as well? Or are they fringe groups just because they don't have the same opinions and are protesting opposite of your beliefs ? :1orglaugh

No I dont think anyone said it would become illegal if obama shows up. It's legal to carry a non-concealed weapon on private property with the property owners permission in new hampshire.
As to the fringe aspect, it's been widely reported for weeks now as well as the primary donors to the groups. There is a direct link between the companies wishes to prevent healthcare reform as proposed, and the incitement of like-minded people to attend democratic town halls and disrupt them by shouting. Even including instructions to shout down early and often. This is not really disputed by either side anymore, no biggy. The combination is a little scary to me. |
You can not carry a firearm within range of the President of the United States. He will be removed by Secret Service or at the very least told to relinquish his side arm during the time while the President is there.

i'm all for a persons right to bear arms in public..
although, i think there should be some limits when it comes to certain circumstances. if there were 1000 people in the crowd with weapons, there is no way that any important political or corporate figure would address a crowd in person.. |

NH i do not know the laws. But you cannot be disarmed unlessed you are being detained by police. And to be detained by police you have to have commited a crime or being placed under arrest. This is a very touchy situation where laws vs rights vs common knowledge come into play. If he is unlawfully disarmed or removed would it be a violation of his rights? It could be a payday for him. veryyy interesting situation. |
crazy shit

nothing makes cops more paranoid than gun carriers, theyll make a law about it across all states :) |
You can "cut costs" and still have a project cost more in the end. Buy a gross of staples instead of a box at a time. You just cut costs (and spent more).
I know, I'm being a butthead, but it's true. Some congress dude on tv yesterday said they'd found 50 some million in savings in medicaid without changing a single thing on the patient end, or patient care. (all overhead bullshit). But it's not sexy, so it wont make big news. |

I'm sure that must be true. They can't really allow any chance of mayhem around the prez or family. I admire him for wanting very open public appearances and such, it's just a little unnerving. Probably due to all the extreme protectionism from before or whatever you'd call it.
Anyway, president is being introduced now at the town hall event. No mayhem to be seen yet. |

Perhaps he is the solution to all of this spending.

Well, the town hall went well. No wild west gun play with people taking dives off saloon balconies or anything.
Actually, what a great Q&A that was. Really went a long way to put to rest some of the crazy distortions out there. IMHO. |

I have no objection to the term talking points being applied to my questions. I just think that it's inherently disingenuous for corporate sponsors, using websites with names full of words like "patriots" and "freedom", to literally incite people to go disrupt meetings by shouting down speakers who support a plan that would go contrary to their corporate interests.
Call me crazy. Some do, lol. |
I'm independant btw. Not that anyone believes anything once they put their dukes up, but for what it's worth.
Here's some free advice for republican steering comittees: The best way to let a democrat trip up is to give them as much rope as they want. They are not like you. They do not employ a huge rubber stamp when they gain power. They fight amongst themselves. Hence phrases such as "blue dogs". As soon as you hear that, you know the demo's are fractured. Apply wedge and push. There ya go, enjoy. |

I live in New Hampshire. There are a lot of people who "open carry". I see them all the time. I never feel threatened. Criminals usually hide their guns.

socialist do not care what the people think... so you will be ok. your new socialized health plan will pass fine.
