What's the most you've ever spent on a concert / show?

I just dropped some major change on Leonard Cohen tickets. Front row, center.

These were straight from the venue through a pre-sale, not even scalped yet, and easily the most $$ I ever dropped on a show. In fact, I think one ticket cost more than I've ever spent on a pair of scalped tickets.

Anyways, tickets were $589 a peice. I don't think I'll regret it, but it is alot of dough for a show.

What about you guys? What's the most you've ever dropped on seats?

BestXXXPorn 07-31-2009 12:55 PM

I dropped $400 a piece on some White Stripes tickets... well worth the cash as they stopped touring shortly after that show and the concert posters I picked up and had framed are now worth a lot of cash to collectors. It paid for itself and the show was fucking awesome.

skrog 07-31-2009 12:55 PM

Never heard of him.

I spent $100 on a ticket to see Dane Cook. What a waste of money. The joke was on me.

His most famous songs are "Everybody Knows" and the often covered "Hallelujah".

He's featured on alot of movie soundtracks so you may have heard him and just didn't know it. Movies like Pump up the Volume, Natrual Born Killers, and most recently provided the background to the sex scene between Silk Spectre and the Night Owl in Watchmen.

That's cool. I think that is how this will be. Leonard's getting older and I can't see him doing much touring after this. Usually he just plays the odd festival here or there, and it's usually not in this country.

I've been a huge fan for years, a friend of mine already caught him in europe where she paid 90 Euros for a festival and said he did not dissapoint.

Tom_PM 07-31-2009 01:11 PM

Holy shit.

Last show I saw was sometime in the 80's, so... anyway tickets were MAYBE $20 each.. MAYBE...

Paul Markham 07-31-2009 01:12 PM

Spent over $1,000 to see Cream Reunion at The Royal Albert Hall. With the flight tickets, hotel and a few other expenses I reckon it was $2,000. Money well spent.

Antonio 07-31-2009 01:14 PM

300 bucks on Golden circle for MJ's sister .... what's her face ... Janet Jackson

billywatson 07-31-2009 01:17 PM

I dropped $350 to see Van Morrison perform "Astral Weeks" in its entirety at the Hollywood Bowl last fall. They were front row ticks, and I sat by the fat kid from Superbad.

Tom_PM 07-31-2009 01:18 PM

The pre-Reagan era was the time for concerts :) Grab twenty bucks, spend half on a ticket, half on a giant bag of stems and seeds, and nobody gave a good damn anyway.:thumbsup

I never would have figured that kid for a Van Morrison fan.

$200 a piece x 2 for prince at the riviera theater in chicago. I would have paid twice that and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

billywatson 07-31-2009 02:28 PM

We were going for high prices!!

How about Van Halen's first tour, Phoenix Arizona, July '78, and it was a $3.93 "KDKB 93 FM Special". Celebrity Theater. What a show...

truebluetalent 07-31-2009 02:33 PM

I just spent over $100 to take my 8 yr old to see wrestling. He loved it and had the best time ever. All I could do was wonder when Hulk Hogan was gonna show up.

Killswitch - BANNED FOR LIFE 07-31-2009 03:34 PM

$8 to see Staind and Shinedown last weekend at my county fair. That was just to get into the fair, concert was free.

That would have been great to see. I listen to the recorded album from that show quite often, it's very good.

I think the most I've spent is $80 per ticket.

Boozer 07-31-2009 04:23 PM

does this count all the money I spent on nitrous balloons in the parking lot before?

Prodigee 07-31-2009 04:24 PM

$140 for Paul McCartney general admission a couple weeks ago. Worth it though, it was a god damn beatle!

I'll be seeing him again at Fenway Park this week (family hadn't seen him yet) and MGMT is opening for him!

rhizome 07-31-2009 04:55 PM

Ha, I just dropped $600 for a pair of Leonard tickets at Caesars. And now I'll have to pay another $800 or so for my girlfriend and I to get there. Prior to this the most I paid was $300 for a pair of Sigur Ros tickets.

wow!! i can only imagine how great that show was!!

i saw rodger waters a few years back perform dark side of the moon in its entirety but im sure it doesnt compare to having gilmore and the rest of the band on stage!!!

I just spend 90 bucks on a ticket to the mile high music festival two weeks ago... Tool, Incubus, The Black keys, Galactic.. Altogether it was 270 with flight.

Great show & amazing weather.

slapass 07-31-2009 05:01 PM

about $350/each for Madonna in Rio. VIP mosh pit type of standing room. It was great.

PSSuperstars 07-31-2009 05:36 PM

I spent about $800 for hubby and I to see Britney.... 5th row, center... and another 360 that night for the Four Seasons.. but we got upgraded to the governor's suite.. so it was well, well worth it.. for me anyways..

$500 for 8th row center Dave Matthews...

and we paid $390 once to sit 4 rows behind Papa Bush at an Astros Game...

deserv 07-31-2009 06:54 PM

SilentKnight 07-31-2009 10:36 PM

Most I ever paid was $300 for Van Halen at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1984.

Worth every penny - I was deaf for two solid weeks. :1orglaugh

Andy CHOOPA 07-31-2009 10:45 PM

$700 Britney Spears lol. Would have been fine if I could have gotten drinks, but that was another whole issue. Wifey loved it though haha.

BlackCrayon 07-31-2009 10:48 PM

I'd love to see Leonard Cohen but I wouldn't pay that much. He played here recently and tickets never went for anything like that. Theres very few I actually would pay that much to see.

Shoehorn! 07-31-2009 11:19 PM

In December I flew from Hawaii to LA to see AC/DC. The tickets were around $500 for two, but flying there, spending a weekend in Beverly Hills, partying, rental car and all that prolly cost me at least another grand. So I'd say around $1500 in the end.

But it was totally worth it. :thumbsup
