Finding snow to ride
 

I know you Canadians have plenty more places to hit the slopes, but here in SoCal.

Just about an hour and a half away, I have http://www.mthigh.com/

I just watched a 'Free Rider' video of some sick ass riders got me looking up places for this season and thinking about the awesome terrain some of you have access to. And I know some of you ride as well. Where do you ride?

I think its awesome that I can go one way an hour and surf, and drive an hour and a half the other direction and snowboard up in the mountains.

But it doesnt compare to where some of you ride.

Reason I posted this is because i have a few videographer friends who are working on amateur snowboarding videos, and some of the footage just rocks.

Snow mobiles are fun, I dont think I would like to surf on snow with a board though.

This Canadian 'Free Rider' video I just caught on TV blew my fucking mind.

insane slopes and man made terrains as well.

These fuckers were riding helicopters up to 50000 feet drop off points.

wild canadians.

there is nothing in this world that gets me more stoked than waking up to a foot of new snow, and getting first tracks :)

kickinghorse has INCREDIBLE powder, and is a very 'untouched' mountain. 2nd highest vertical in Canada. very few people/crowds. in short, it kicks fucking ass.

ask anyone who rides what the best new mountain in Canada is, you will here the words kicking horse over and over.

i plan on getting involved with shooting snowboard video myself in the future. though 16 mm still looks MUCH better than minidv for mountain video imo - and i know jack about 16 mm film lol.

dude. rent or buy TB 10 on dvd. standard films. all shot in 16 mill. the most amazing snowboard video ever shot imo. so perfect.

Bro, I have 2 friends who are total hippy wildlife videographers.

But one happens to also be a diehard snowboarder - so when he goes he of course brings back digicam footage for days.

My hippy friend was just in Alaska, he sent me panarama quiktime movs of him on a kyak (sp) surrounded by glaciers.

insane fucking video guys.

barely have cars, but they got AVID systems and powerbooks hahahaha

I have no clue what one I saw today, I know it was Canadian.

It was good.

Awesome soundtrack as well as just nice shots and slow mo.

Warren Miller does those vids. I have "freeriders" and "snowriders" on tape. I am taking my whole family to board for x-mas this year..and am totally stoked for it.

I remember them doing those flips exactly like that, in pairs of 5 and 6 riders at a time, and talking about how they were blending snowboard techniques (airs, grabs etc...) with Skiing.

The snowboard shots ruled.

And they ended with the 150 mile an hour run, correct?

Showing those people wipe out at 140 + mph was neat too.

standard films is where it's at. you should check tb10. fucking awesome. i'm old friends with andy hetzel (he's has small parts in several of the tb films). pretty famous for his front flips.

I did a 10 day camping hiking trip all over alaska this past summer..have cherry hit me up on Q and i will zip ya some awesome pics .
