Do you R/C?

I just got done building a new engine.

Check it out.

Started with a Zenoah G260RC1

Then added:

O'Neil Brothers Reed

Machined and reed ported 30.5cc upgrade with 2mm stuffed stroker.

Yellow powder coated cylinder.

Modified Walbro Wt-813 carburetor.

K&N air filter.

Then topped it all off with various red, yellow, and chrome finishing touches.

This fucker will SCREAM!

This is not for your kids R/C truck. :glugglug

Once it's all together, yes. :)

Tom_PM 12-09-2008 11:56 AM

Yikes, what is it, 1/4 scale or something huge? Looks badass.

Nikki_Licks 12-09-2008 11:58 AM

Sweet :thumbsup
I guess I have to ask, what is this for?

I have the Miss Circus Circus hydroplane. I flipped it last summer because I got ballsy and went with an engine that was overrated for that vessel.

It was a bitch to get it out of the lake :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

1/5 scale FG MT5

DirtyDanza 12-09-2008 12:02 PM

nice z1u in the back....

I gotta see that thing scream....

Tom_PM 12-09-2008 12:04 PM

jeez, 1/5th scale!

Better get some ear plugs, dayum.

I raced 1/12th back in the 80's. Electric though, no gas.

Deej 12-09-2008 12:05 PM

Lets see the beast youre going to drop that powerhouse into?

DO you use a mini cherry picker?

Godsmack 12-09-2008 12:10 PM

I had this 2stroke engine on my FG Marder, tuned it a lot as well, was fun although the sheer mas of the Marder resulted in pretty costly crashes :-)

I sold my Marder and i now have much lighter cars with nitro engines..
Have a few offroad Revo's and T-Maxes..they are faster than the FG Marder but the nitro engines are less reliable than the 2strokes..

I miss the Circus Circus! That used to be one of my favorite hydroplanes. Do you have any pictures of it before the crash? lol

I used to have a RC plane. It had a huge 5foot wingspan. Crashed it. I found an old plane the other day I was thinking of getting back into it. My niece got a mini RC copter for her birthday and I think I've played with it more then her... That thing is fun!

fris 12-09-2008 01:31 PM

Memories.

Back in the day I had an RC10 and a Yokomo YZ10. I still have the Yokomo but I don't dare drive it too hard as it's pretty much impossible to get parts for it these days.

Warren 12-09-2008 01:49 PM

That's awesome Aaron :thumbsup

This thing was doing 55+ MPH BEFORE the new engine. Not sure how fast it will go now but I do know that I would hate to be in it's way. :)

I had my FG Marder crash my foot, lucky i had very heavy leather boots on, there was big hole in my boot and i had cut in my foot.. i dont want to imagine what would have happened to my foot when i didn't had the leather boots on..11kilos of inertia.. :Oh crap

munki 12-09-2008 02:09 PM

This thread's making me want to get back into cars again...

Mr Pheer 12-09-2008 02:16 PM

I flew RC planes for probably 20 years. Pretty much quit when I moved to vegas though, even though they have some nice RC flying fields here.

I believe in Boulder City, they have a race track for 1/4 scale cars.

Hehehe, yeah wasn't much fun for sure..

Looking at FG now i see they came a long way, they look much more advanced than mine 6 years ago.. i might get back into 1/6, i love the 2 stroke's torque..my wife will not like it for sure, i have cars all over the house already.. i think i have like 11 on and offroad cars scattered over multiple rooms.. most Traxxas and a few HPI's..
I am now practicing with a electric copter.. fun!

this hobby requires tools and the will to fix your material..
my cars do like 65mph..nothing can keep them from getting broken after a crash.. you have to be willing to accept this and spend time fixing.. :winkwink:

This was like 15 years ago when I was in middle school. I'd love to get back into it though. I always wanted a remote control helicopter or airplane.

If you wanna start to do copters than go for the cheap electric training ones.. i wrecked about 3 of them already.. it's fucking hard!
never tried planes, but i imagine those are less hard to learn than the copters..

Yea I had a old RC 10 from like the 1st or 2nd year they were produced when I was a teenager. When the monster truck stuff started getting popular with the RC cars I reworked all the suspension and has a bad ass truck set up.

Here's the stock RTR version. Not sure what kind of hop-ups are available yet but I'm sure there will be a lot of them.

Or you could pick up Real Flight G4.5 for the cost of one cheap heli.

I've been learning heli's for awhile now. Not sure if I will ever get one as they are truly a pain in the ass....But the simulator rocks.

Buy a cheap PC to run it. Believe me, you WILL crash many heli's trying to learn. Even crashing the $200.00 cheapos will add up real fast.
