that system is "not against Russia", its against rogue states, such as Iran or Korea, but is an nuclear attak from such countries really likely in the foreseable future? IMO... not at all.... And , if feared, other measures can be used to prevent a nuclear conflict with them.
And Russia... well... they are just replying with the same. Can you really blame them?
also, remember, Russians think about Americans the same you think about Russians (Ok, they watch American movies etc but when it comes to politics, they think about the US exaclty what you think about them). When they hear about the new anti-missle system planned by the US in central/eastern Europe, an area that used to be under their control during Cold War, they just think what you just said about them... namely "fucking Americans"....
One can only hope that there won't be another Cold War from it, but I think the world isn't two sided anymore so that's not really a danger... at least not to such extent as in the past

If I was in his shoes, I would probably do the same thing. They are trying to protect their interests and their image, just like we are. We simply don't agree with them and they don't agree with us.
I don't like the stranglehold Russia has on Europe regarding oil and energy... Anyway there is nothing to fear. Obama has already promised to cancel the missile defense systems. It was one of campaign promises. The Russians are just reminding him of his promise. He will be backing down on this issue (and many others) as soon as he is inaugurated.
