I really can't believe some of the contraptions that people are willing to get into.

Is part of the thrill of getting into a tin can like this 1000's of feet up in the air knowing that you can die?

So so cool...would love to learn to fly, but scares me half to death...even though your chances are better in a car accident!! And that's a proven fact but still....you figure that out!! :)

Kenny B! 08-28-2008 06:43 AM

Those are cool, a good buddy just got his teaching license, I'm looking forward to going up with him.

RayVega 08-28-2008 07:13 AM

I know this is a really stupid question...I don't know much about ultralight's, but where's the steering wheel???

MediaManiac 08-28-2008 07:16 AM

nice! but too scary for me..

PersianKitty 08-28-2008 07:22 AM

Several years ago we went to Oregon for the Red Bull Flugtag where toss homemade man-powered flying contraptions over the river. It's insane what people come up with to try to make fly.

Not that those are on the same level as ultra-lights. At least an ultra-light looks like a plane.

JFK.. is there anywhere you go without a camera? ;)

PK

Vegas Ken 08-28-2008 07:25 AM

Thanks for sharing the pics!

How long can you stay up in the air in one of those?

or a stick shift?

crockett 08-28-2008 08:22 AM

I always enjoyed this little airplane.. Was built by the Late Leeon Davis and was called the DA-11.. It's a home built airplane that he made just to show that airplanes could be affordable.

It's engine I shit you not was a 22hp Biggs & Stratton lawn mower engine.. hence the name "mow power to the people". It had a top speed of 125mph and weighed about 375lbs it also got about a 100mpg on the flight distance.

I'm link hotten so if they red X sorry..

pornguy 08-28-2008 08:30 AM

Do you have to have a license for those yet??? USed to be that if they were listed as experimental, you did not.

MichaelP 08-28-2008 08:48 AM

there is NO steering wheel, in these, the stick you see in the middle front of the seat, is how you partially manouver them :winkwink: It is steered on the ground by the pedals:thumbsup
