Is the porn in crisis?

Hi friends.

I work mainly with spanish web traffic, and the situation is really bad. A lot of tube sites are destroying this business.

I want to know what's happening with american porn. It's in crisis to? Is rentable make freesites or galleries like two years ago? Or only big webmaster make money, and small webmasters like me are condenated to disappear?

Thanks!

seeandsee 08-11-2008 07:01 AM

tube sites are affecting everybody

Might be time to try something that isn't all over the place and doesn't compete with things that are. :thumbsup

porn is evolving
it always has and always will
some will make money and others will lose it

It's not overly complicated.

Does it mean working harder and working with thinner margins? probably, but it's always sort of been that way. It evolves and will continue to evolve.

TheSenator 08-11-2008 11:19 AM

Just spam Yahoo Chat and spam http://live.yahoo.com

You should be making a few thousands in a couple of days.

czarina 08-11-2008 11:22 AM

paysites are not cutting it anymore. People want video and live cams. As simple as that

klaze 08-11-2008 11:26 AM

I wish every time someone started one of these threads the mods would lock it.

CZarina WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!

A paysite can incorporate Video AND live cams.. Gahhhh

2012 08-11-2008 11:42 AM

i agree, we are in a crisis situation here and we need backup yesterday

misterhhs 08-11-2008 12:10 PM

I think their is just too much free content on the web. Why would someone pay if he can get it all for free ?

easy, they pay for the content they dont find for free... like new models, specific fetishes, etc. I agree its more difficult everyday so you need to build more appealing sites and use fresh faces... I personally see a brighter future in the teen & amateur niche markets, as well as in some kind of virtual dating

rokanrol 08-12-2008 05:06 AM

I see that your situation is very diferent. In the spanish porn, a lot of sponsors are closing, webmasters are selling domains, is a real crisis situation.

But american webamster don't want to talk about crisis and see a great future.

Thanks for your comments.

mattz 08-12-2008 05:08 AM

I personally don't think so, I'm currently making more money than I ever have now.

Yes the porn market is in crisis and anyone who says it's not is possibly lying so you can join his program. There are a few sites that are not declining, I'm talking generally.

DVD sales are falling and will continue to fall.
Magazines are in decline.
Internet porn is also in decline.

The reasons are many and few. The main reason is the buyers are buying less, the reasons they are buying less are many.

The solution is to adapt or die.

Thank you. Consider that a lot of people post on boards to promote their company and what they say is largely selling to others around them. If you're selling to affiliates then it would be unwise to say your site is not converting as well as it was. What the affiliate who joins thinks 6 months down the line is not important, but this has always beens a short sited industry.

The porn industry has for 20 years over produced the product and it all worked when the consumer had no choice. He had to buy a video, then a DVD, then he could rent it. To compete many companies rather than producing a better product produced more product for the same money. Just more boxes on more shelves.

Then the Internet found porn, or was it the other way around, and in the last few years they adopted the same approach. More product, sites, for the same money. Many complain about too much free porn, most of them were the ones spending more on putting up the free porn than on what the consumer was buying.

Then Net speeds rose, BW and hosting costs dropped to a level that were so low people could give everything away. Torrents were not a help but the big problem is Tube sites. They satisfy the real demand for porn.

Porn is mostly a product to stimulate a man to masturbate. It takes 10 minutes to masturbate. So a 20 minute scene on a website giving it away for free is perfect for most consumers. Add to this that most porn is produced for low costs with little "merit or real quality" and you have buyers who are now able to get the product being sold to them for free.

Sites that truly offer something that is different, a different blonde getting fucked on a different sofa is the same porn as 100,000 other blondes getting fucked on other sofas, will survive. you need to be able to create or deliver something worth buying.

This is a short post of the situation today. Everyone will now post their replies telling you I'm a clueless old fart. But little else, or tell you their site is different.

No it's not. There are clouds and for some they are big and dark, others are getting umbrellas. And for a few it's blue skies. :winkwink:

The recent trends have been coming for a long time and have been growing. This is not an Acacia or 2257 type thing. They were storms in a tea cup.

no just kidding, you gave a good summary with a solid point of view I think.

Zester 08-13-2008 06:04 AM

adult porn is very competitive these days, stakes are high, if you are successful you make a lot of money but if you don't win the fight you die.

my advice to you:
if you are just starting out and don't have both feet in it - don't close your mind to other projects beside online porn.
if you believe you can make more money elsewhere - go for it.
the idea is to make money - as much as you can - don't let these kids make you feel like you are loosing by leaving because if you can make more money than them from other projects - they are the ego driven stupid ones .

Barefootsies 08-13-2008 06:24 AM

While you've made some good points in this thread here is where you lose those with some knowledge...

.... you have this habit of using broad generalizations that anything YOU can't believe is a lie. While there are some of us who are NOT in decline. Just because YOU are doesn't mean we are hurting.

Yes. SOME programs are in decline. Yes. Tube sites are changing the marketing, and some affiliate marketers are hurting, and their ratios for SOME material are harder to sell. Yes. The old days of throwing traffic and the same old rerun content sites with a face lift and new domain name are long gone. You actually have to have some skills on how to CONVERT and SELL people now a days. The days of the ape, and throwing shit at porn and waiting for some to stick are over.

I try and read some of your posts, as you are a content guru, and have years of experience in this business with some insight. But frankly, it's fucking hard as hell a lot of times, and honestly, I can see why many disregard your points and posts right out of the gate.

Your vast over simplifications, generalizations, and failure to think some of us succeed while you are faltering counteract most of your good points.
