Comedian Bernie Mac Still In Hospital Recovering

After rumors that comedian Bernie Mac was in a “very very critical” condition, came the reassuring that he is still alive and undergoing treatment. According to People magazine, the actor-comedian’s rep said that Bernie Mac was “expected to make a full recovery,” highlighting the fact that he asked for his privacy to be respected.

“Bernie Mac is still alive and being treated at a Chicago hospital for pneumonia and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Danica Smith, the comedian’s publicist, said that the 50-year-old comedian was “responding well to treatment and will be released soon.” She added that his current condition was not related to or caused by his disease sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease which causes inflammation in the lungs, lymph nodes and other organs. The disease has been in remission since 2005, when he revealed his health problems.

“I've had sarcoidosis since 1983, and it has not altered or limited my lifestyle. No one knows where sarcoidosis comes from or where it starts, and there's no known cause for this condition that effects primarily minorities,” told Bernie Mac to Star magazine's Website in 2005.

Smith announced Friday that Bernie Mac (Bernard Jeffery McCullough) was undergoing treatment for pneumonia at a Chicago hospital.

Bernie Mac had his own show “The Bernie Mac Show” from 2001 to 2006. He is known for his part in “Ocean’s Eleven,” where he played alongside Brad Pitt and George Clooney and the subsequent “Ocean’s Twelve” and “Ocean’s Thirteen.”

The comedian appeared in the news last week after he made some jokes during a Chicago fundraiser for the Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The disease that he has sarcoidosis can become fatal in about 5% of the cases. Allegedly, Bill Russell, the basketball player, also suffers from the disorder.

The Captain 08-04-2008 09:32 AM

that was cold hearted and mean spirited

Tom_PM 08-04-2008 09:33 AM

They did say on tv that the jaws of life had to be used to remove him from the wreckage. Pretty nasty for sure, went off highway then overcorrected and rolled.

They just said he was "serious" condition. At least it's better than "critical".

Heidi Rabbit 08-04-2008 09:33 AM

I just heard 2 seconds ago on Virgin Radio news that he is still alive but in critical condition. Why are y'all sealing the the coffin while he's still breathing? Bad vibes no?!

Zoose 08-04-2008 09:36 AM

He's in serious condition - he'll most likely be fine.

Quote:

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Ben Williams said Freeman and a female passenger were traveling eastbound on Mississippi Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County when his vehicle went off the edge of the road. Freeman overcorrected, flipping his 1997 Nissan Maxima several times before coming to a rest.

Emergency crews extracted Freeman and his passenger from their vehicle using the jaws of life. According to Williams, they were both airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where Freeman was listed in serious condition Monday morning.

Just as a side note.. why was an actor who's worth several million dollars driving an 11 year old Nissan Maxima???

LexiLexxx 08-04-2008 09:39 AM

Get your facts straight B4 posting!!! Stupid Post!

We hope Freeman and his wife make a full recovery.

kristin 08-04-2008 09:43 AM

Very good actor ... sorry I won't see him on the big screen anymore.

Just because you are rich and famous does not mean you have to buy the latest and best car each time it comes out. Maybe it had sentimental value. Maybe he just liked it.

Get well soon Morgan! :thumbsup
