this is pretty general knowledge for most people....but "PBS Frontline" explains it in great detail from the beginning through the 2nd world war...to the major finds in africa, russia & finally australia.

I bought a nice diamond necklace for my girlfriend 5-6 years ago and she's had it on ONE single time. I'm never doing that again. If I ever again decide to waste 8000 dollars on something like that I might aswell give the money to a homeless and tell him to watch over them while I'm gone.

I've been hip to the diamond trade for many years now. Never bought one, never will.

I decided a long time ago never to buy a diamond. It's interesting how well known the whole "scam" is and yet the trade continues unaffected.

Yeah it is, but not much you can do about it, except maybe raise awareness. You'd think that whoever is "rich" enough to buy decent quality diamonds would have enough brains to see through it and not buy it. I guess ignorance is bliss....

Synthetic diamonds are just as good and cost a fraction of real diamonds.

Watching now pretty interesting but as you said most likely have a general idea of what's going on.

One thing to think about is the fact the whole idea about "blood diamonds" could be a scam by De Beers. Sure there is of course fighting and dieing going on in Africa but it's not because of diamonds. Diamonds are just a way they pay for stuff because they have artificial worth. If there was no artificial worth there would be no blood diamond.

However think of whole movement behind not buying blood diamonds.. They want you to make sure your diamonds are certified ect..ect. Well who does buying certified diamond benefit? The ones that control them of course. Who controls them? De Beers..

What better way to keep the prices up and the idea that they are rare than to imply people die for them and you must make sure the diamonds you buy have no blood on them.

Think about it..it's all about controlling the market.

Ya, 22 bullets don't cost much. Just one bullet to the back of the head would probably do it without looking so horrible in the eyes of the rest of the world. I guess margins must be pretty slim on those seal skins if they can't factor in the price of a Ruger and a box of bullets to their budget.

To be honest, I bet they just get a kick out of beating something to death.
