I think it depends on what your consequences are. If you've been/are married, you have a lot to lose in investment, house, happy home and kids.

Affair is worse. You are not only sexually cheating, but you are also emotionally cheating your wife... Shows her that you dont appreciate all the love that she gives you, while sex with a prositute has no real emotional value to you, probably just doing it for something new and exciting.

I'd say prostitute is better. Girl's biggest fair is emotional cheating, as much as a girl would hate the news about a night with a prostitute, it can be somewhat justified by "oh i was drunk, my friends forced me to, i don't know what i was doing... i am so terribly sorry" etc. You can't make the same excuse for an affair and the affair is much more likely to end the marriage with a divorce.

why do people always bring up the std issue? an affair with some girl you pick up in a bar is probably way more likely to involve stds compared to a high class call girl

anyways, the answer is obviously the affair, as the prostitute is pretty much just masturbation with a helper, whereas an affair is emotion and that is obviously worse

I don't think it's that big of a deal for a guy to occasionally hook up with a hooker/stripper/massage parlor person. As long as it's meaningless, it wouldn't bother me. Guys like to do stuff like that from time to time. If someone is good to me and makes me happy, I wouldn't sweat him that thrill.

Affair is worse. It involves betrayal and emotions. You would be untrustworthy. Nailing a hooker just means you have low sexual values. Which is big deal to some people, others dont care, but no one likes someone that is untrustworthy.

While I somewhat understand the "emotional cheating" versus "sex only" thing, it doesn't really factor in with me personally. Hooker or the woman next door, either way, doesn't matter. It's still a lie if you claim to be monogamous and aren't, no matter who you're fucking.

I think I might be more forgiving about a hooker IF I knew there were some sexual need I wasn't fulfilling, but then I'm not really the withholding type.
