What is the worst job you have ever had?

For 3 days when I was 14, I worked at Chuck E. Cheese :Oh crap

I had to do the Macarena in the mouse suit for Birthday Parties.

Can anybody do worse than that?

I worked at Dairy Queen for 4 days making dilly bars. Not worse than dressing like a gay rat, but it sucked either way.

I cleaned ash trays at 4am at a 64 lane bowling alley before taking a public bus to college.

$3.35 per hour, and you got fired for missing 1 day without a doctors note

Babaganoosh 05-01-2008 12:04 PM

Roofing. I made it almost 10 days in the 100+ degree Kansas heat.

I did roofing for one day in Florida. Being a little afraid of heights didn't help but it is fucking HOT up there.

one of my first jobs was cleaning the office building of the local garbage dump. Yes, including the fucking toilets. I never wanna be reminded of that period again and try to block it out of my memory.

CaptainHowdy 05-01-2008 01:12 PM

Cleaned cars in a parking lot almost for the tips when I was 13-14, didn't make enough for the bus fare and had to go back home walking.

MichaelP 05-01-2008 01:21 PM

I was a clerical assistant in the Dept. Health & Social Security in England. My job was matching incoming mail with the person's folder, and it was incredibly boring.

Most of my way through high school I worked in movie theaters, which was actually the best job you could have as a teen. Then my first year of college I worked at the UPS plant in Deerfield Beach, Fl. loading the semi trucks. It paid almost $10 an hour, which in the early '90's wasn't a bad gig for an 18 year old, but you had to stand in the back of the trucks while these conveyor belts shot packages at you at 100 MPH and dodge them. Some of the packages were labeled explosive, biohazard, etc. but they would still shoot at you with little to no safety precautions. Then if the conveyor belt got jammed you had to climb up it and remove the package causing the jam, after which 10 thousand packages that were building up all shot at you at once. It was quite the workout...

MaDalton 05-01-2008 03:35 PM

opening boxes with 50 pounds of instant coffee and pouring it into a funnel - 8 hours a day

the dust of the coffee goes everywhere, you sweat and the caffeine goes directly into your body. i couldn't sleep at night cause i was so high. on the third day i got itching rash everywhere, said "fuck you" and quit

manual labour no good

Fucksakes 05-01-2008 04:08 PM

I was really bad for quiting jobs I didnt like to much.

worst job would be.. waiting in this small office all day with my hard hat and safty boots for my name to be called for a 3 hour job, that was 2 hour bus ride away. and it would be some kinda hard labour job. this is something I did when I was very poor and I had to start somewhere.. woke up every morning 5am and went and sat in this office all day, some days didnt even get a job..

but from that I got better jobs from proving myself to others :)

fuzebox 05-01-2008 04:20 PM

Never had a bad job, my first jobs were freelance web design contracts until I got part time telecommuting programming work.

I did work for 1 day as a caller for a political party though... Had to phone people and ask which representative they were going to vote for. It sucked a lot, but it definitely doesn't hold a candle to roofing and at least paid $8/hr :1orglaugh

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 05-01-2008 04:23 PM

I scrubbed oil off absorbant booms on an oilspill for 20 minutes before quitting once. They wrapped you up in three layers of completely sealed rubber suit than slapped a big hardhat and faceshield on you, then sent you to goto town on these big oilslicked booms with a squirt bottle and a kitchen sponge. It was about 35 degrees out when me and two buddies started the job. About 20 minutes in a look over to one buddy and ask him if he's quitting, he says 'fuck ya', i look at other buddy scrubbing away and tell him 'we're quitting'. he asks 'right now?' and i say 'might as well' and that was that. 20 minutes.... i wish i could sauy it was the shortest timeframe i ever held a job for, but it' wouldn't be true, haha...

Are you sure it was the coffee, and not the cocaine you were trying to conceal that got you so high?

I worked two years operating machinery on a tie gang. It was the BEST job I have ever had. I seriously LOVED the tie gang, and I am sitting right now seriously considering going back if I can find an operators position again. though I think i can understand what you're saying. They sent me a brand new Nordco CX Spiker and a rep from the company to work with me for a week. When he saw that i knew all the mechanics of the machine already he was in total shock. So i got him baked and he explained all the electronics and diagnostics of the machine to me. He told me that on the american crews he would nailpolish overtop of all the electronic settings in the panel so the mexicans wouldn't be able to find them... :1orglaugh
