WASHINGTON ? Evil Angel owner John Stagliano has been charged with multiple counts of federal obscenity violations. Stagliano was indicted by a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., Assistant Attorney General Alice S. Fisher of the Criminal Division announced today.

Stagliano, Evil Angel Productions and John Stagliano Inc. were charged with eight counts of operating ?and obscenity distribution business and related offenses.? The charges stem from the mail and Internet distribution of yet-unnamed movies.

When reached by phone by XBIZ this evening, Stagliano said he had not been served with the indictment yet and would not comment. The Justice Department?s press office did not respond to an inquiry at post time.

uh oh!!!!!

Mutt 04-08-2008 08:23 PM

shit Buttman is under attack - call in Fartman to the rescue!

that sucks though - what a fucking disgrace the American government is - wasting taxpayers money - they haven't won an obscenity case in years and they won't win this one either but Stagliano has to spend a fortune defending himself and all the stress from it.

Spunky 04-08-2008 08:25 PM

That fuckin sucks..the man trying to hold you down again

OldSchoolJim 04-08-2008 08:27 PM

anyone find it sort of questionable to have a press conference before the defendant is even served?

BlackCrayon 04-08-2008 08:28 PM

More bullshit.

How do you get the info before the defendant has even been served?

BVF 04-08-2008 08:34 PM

It seems most of these kind of charges still revolve around sending a physical product through the mail.

tony286 04-08-2008 08:38 PM

not good at all. They havent forgotten about us just been getting their ducks in a row.

Seriously.... so what's up with this?

[db] 04-08-2008 08:40 PM

He should have known better. When a country has to constantly tell their citizens how free they are, you know you had better get in line and watch what you do.

Every porn company that operates out of the US is taking a huge risk. Unfortunately another 8 year term of a right wing theocrat will all but end the world's greatest adult industry, and we'll see a lot more good people behind bars for attempting to utilize their so call constitutional rights.

It has certainly seemed that way, with several notable exceptions. This is just the easiest way for them to attack us. Most organized crime charges revolve around unpaid taxes.

MattO 04-08-2008 08:47 PM

Say it isn't so!

We might want to take a look at this bit:

Quote:

...one count of using an interactive computer service to display an obscene movie trailer in a manner available to a person under 18 years of age

What's the big deal? That only makes every person on this board a felon in the US.

Looks like a job for the FSC.

pocketkangaroo 04-08-2008 09:07 PM

right in there with those scoff-law pot smokers :(

Snake Doctor 04-08-2008 09:24 PM

Damn that sucks.

I was just thinking the other day too....the administration has less than one year left and whoever gets elected, the next administration won't really care much about us....so it's likely we won't see anymore obscenity prosecutions because they take so long to try and the next administration won't really want to continue the work.

Looks like I was wrong.

Snake Doctor 04-08-2008 09:27 PM

Jeez, don't you just love how they puff up the charges?

?three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce to sell and distribute DVDs containing obscene films together with a movie trailer in violation; two counts of using a common carrier for the conveyance or delivery of DVDs containing obscene films in interstate commerce; one count of engaging in the business of selling or transferring an obscene film and a movie trailer; one count of using an interactive computer service to display an obscene movie trailer in a manner available to a person under 18 years of age; and one count seeking forfeiture of certain assets of the defendants.?

Ummmmm hello, Mr Justice Department, all of the age verification methods that congress has made law have been struck down by the courts, we as website operators have no way of verifying anyone's age before they access any material.

And of course the part in italics is what the whole case is about really.

crockett 04-08-2008 09:29 PM

Has the govt ever won a obscenity case? I can't think of any so why the fuck do they continue to keep charging people with it?

Sebastian Sands 04-08-2008 09:31 PM

It's election year in the US.. I doubt this is going to be the only case

tony286 04-08-2008 09:34 PM

I wonder where they watched the trailer?

FreeHugeMovies 04-08-2008 09:34 PM

Doesn't our govt have more important things to worry about then stuff like this? Hopefully he will fight it and be found innocent.

First of all it's Evil Angel. Secondly, it had to have been those pesky peeling flash banner ads they were yappin' about. :upsidedow

Isn't that odd?

It's because they are more interested in the headlines and not the case. It doesn't matter if they went or loose; The headline will read "we went after the porn industry" and three years from now after they loose it will be on their resume saying "went after porn industry".

"They" went after Soul Cash because (I believe) one of their affiliates was spamming and them followed the money trail back to Soul Cash, who most likely knew nothing about it. Years wasted, huge legal fees, for what? "They lost" and Soul Cash was found not guilty.

This crap doesn't end because in their eyes "porn is evil" yet.....

Members of the Senate and the Congress are fucking hookers and getting their freak on with gay men in bathroom stalls.

Clean your own house before you come to clean up ours already.

Brujah 04-09-2008 01:16 AM

Doesn't sound right still. Why did Evil Angel stand out among the rest?

directfiesta 04-09-2008 01:37 AM

" War on Porn " - WOP - just added to the rooster ... You should all know that profits from porn finances terrorism ..... :2 cents::1orglaugh

ashleyfires 04-09-2008 01:54 AM

That totally sucks! I have been in a bunch of Evil Angel films lately, I hope it's not my fault! :winkwink:
