Ever left your atm card in the atm machine?
I swear I have a relationship with atm machines, use them all the time. Today was the day I dread. I drove off and realized like 40 minutes later I left my card in the machine. (was doing too many things at once, got the cash and left)
I checked by bank statements, nobody is using it. Does anyone know for fact if the ATM will swallow a card not taken back out by the user? and I could go to the bank and get it tomorrow? |
Over here you have to take out your card first before you get the cash. Theyre a bit behind there.
|
Happened to me like 4x at least. And yes, the atm swallowed it. I also had a time when I left it in and I had the next person who used it chase it down to give it back to me.
You can call the bank to have it blocked and then go to the bank to get it the next time and they'll unblock it there. That's how Bank of America does it. That's what I did every time. I'm retarded but I left it in the atm machine a lot. A LOT. |

Over here you can make multiple transactions, one after the other, such as paying bills, a deposit and a withdrawl. Fortunately your card doesn't get spit out at you if you do the withdrawl first! I guess you're a bit behind too. |
Usually the card is taken by the ATM if you do not pull it. Happened once to me but I was too busy and gready counting the money and didnīt leave, so I could be sure nobody else took it off the ATM.

First credit card, then money and at the end you get that small piece of paper. |
Years ago, about 15 or so, at some atms (depending on the bank who owned it) if you lets say chose 75 guilders (old currency, 3 bills of 25) and you took only the note in the middle the machine took the money back after 3 mins and returned 75 guilders on your account. Ofcourse that didn't work too long :)
|
Haha the first time i took a train in NY alone i hit "disabled". Got my train ticket...went into the train and the guy who checked the tickets was like how exactly are you disabled...i told him something like do i look disabled or what...totally not realizing what ticket i bought.
|
Did the Eastern European "skimmers" hit you guys already? Its a pain in the ass here...they add this mechanism on top the thing where you put your card in...it reads and copies your card and then later they empty your bank account. Fuckers got me as well but didn't manage to take my money...

I ordered sushi today, the guy arrived in 45 mins, wants $50, I look in my wallet and there's suddenly only $30 in it, and that's strange since I usually have a few hundred on me.
So I ask him if I can pay with a card, he says I can't, so I go in a hurry to the ATM 100 meters away, put in my card without realizing the ATM screen is dead and then it takes my card and doesn't want to return and the screen remains dead. But after a minute it suddenly returned my card (but obviously no cash) so i had to loan the money from someone to pay for the sushi delivery. That was the closest for me so far when it comes to losing an card in an ATM... |
Pipecrew, i want to go to Miami again, can i stay at your place :1orglaugh
I love Miami...and Miami loves me. Then i'm gonna visit LA and crash at A1R3K's place after stopping in NY to cuddle with Juicy. |

The ATMs in Spain are better than in the UK - You can pay your bills as well..... it comes with a scanner and can even take cash.
If you have a pre pay phone you can top it up - loads of stuff.... Makes the lines a bit painfull if you are in a rush though. |
Ya did it one time. In TN all the machines spit the card back first, or they are just swipe, so Im up in Pa visiting my parents and my cell phone died. So had to drive 25 miles to a store to find out I had to just ship it back to tmobile at a ups store, so stopped at a grocery store and was in a hurry to go get it shipped off. Atm and small bank inside the store so did a quick cash withdrawl and rushed off to ship it. Was about 20 miles from the grocery store, and when I get there my card is missing. Light goes off over my head and I realize what I did. Machines in PA hold the card during the transaction and I walked away leaving it there. I called the bank with my wifes cellphone and they had the card and rushed back to get it.
Scared the crap out of me I must say lol. |
you had a bitch in your apartment you were trying to wou with Sushi take out? please don't tell me you ordered $50 worth of that to eat yourself

Most banks if you are using a card from another bank and it gets sucked inside its either shredded instantly when detected by the atm or will be shredded first thing in the morning when the workers check it.
|
One time I was really hammered at a strip bar and accidentally put my card in the trash slot (where you are supposed to shove your transaction records if you don't want them) instead of the slot where the card goes.
It was a fucked up machine, they made the trash slot look almost exactly like the ATM slot. Plus the place was dark as fuck, being a strip bar. Anyway, was that ever embarrassing. The card was jammed half way in the trash slot and I had to get the bouncer to bring a knife so I could pry it out. All I could say was "Sorry man, I've been drinking all day and I'm pretty fucked up." |
It should be at the bank. My friend had it happen to him at a bank of wachovia in Key West last year. They give you the money before the card which is different than he is used to. Went back the next morning and they had it no problem.
|
the machine will just swallow your card. go back to the bank and they'll give it to you when you sign a little card. i left mine in the machine 3 times in one week over the summer...
puff puff puff |
i did last week and left the atm, got in my car.... it was like 11pm at night and this guy came running at us, he was a spanish guy and didn't speak english so i didn't know what was up...but he ran to give me back my card
|
I did at National City bank, when I called the next morning to come get it, they had already destroyed the card
|
Never had that problem, thankfully.
|
Down here you either swipe your card, so you can't leave it behind. Or if it's a normal atm sort, it spits the card back out, then cash, then your paper bill. Plus it beeps like a truck reversing while the card is still poking out. :)

I thought I did once. Was drunk and realized my card wasn't in my wallet while walking to a restaurant for a post clubbing meal. I was freaking out, this was in NYC and I figured someone may have swiped the card after I used it.
When I got home I was changing and the card fell out of my shirt pocket. I did a happy dance for about 10 minutes and then grabbed a beer out of the fridge,,, |
Damn now i am more confused. I have people on gfy and friends telling me two things.
Camp A) the card will be destroyed instantly Camp B) I can go to the bank and get it back. |

Only time I left a card in the ATM was when the machine took it and refused to give it back. I went into the bank to report this, and the response was 'it's been doing that all day'. Nobody even bothered to put an 'out of order' sign on it. Fucking BofA. |
