Bride dies during marriage's first dance

DAVIE, Fla. - Kim Sjostrom wanted a real-life version of the film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," which played in the background as friends fixed her hair and makeup before her own marriage ceremony.

But less than an hour after she and Teddy Efkarpides were wed, Sjostrom crumpled in her husband's arms during a Greek song that means "Love Me."

How truly horrible.

LivePornBlog 02-11-2008 09:27 AM

This is terrible :(

pornask 02-11-2008 09:28 AM

oh my goodness :(

Scott McD 02-11-2008 09:31 AM

No idea how the guy would cope with that... :helpme

StuartD 02-11-2008 09:33 AM

omg, I couldn't even imagine... how horrible :(

Tom_PM 02-11-2008 10:03 AM

Terrible :(

My heart attack came last summer while I was sweeping up my kitchen floor. Lightheaded first, a little tingly, then a slow crushing sensation that felt like it was in my wind pipe. Well it was a massive heart attack.

Women very often dont get the numb left arm or the "elephant on the chest" feelings that are so common in men. Women have to be more careful because of that and dont let your doctor misdiagnose you.

Her last thoughts were being married and in her husbands arms surrounded by every person important in her life.. all things considered, not the worst scenario...

LauraLee 02-11-2008 10:06 AM

Now that is sad.

Bojangles 02-11-2008 10:08 AM

That would suck.

Very true for her..for him it will be with him forever. I am "lucky" that when my husband died of a heartattack we had that chance to be married for nearly a decade. I still have the last images burned into my head and it happened in 2004. I hope this poor man accepts whatever mental help there is on offer.

Tom_PM 02-11-2008 10:42 AM

Yeah, Sarah for sure it will be with him forever. I've lost both parents and numerous other relatives to heart problems, and almost myself last summer.

I'd feel like I was cheating the woman if I married, cuz I'll be dead. Heart disease makes you sick not just in the heart. Kind of paralyzes you in your life. Does me anyway.

I was watching some racing on the weekend and it was super exciting and I had to turn it off because my heart was just beating way too fast. Talk about depressing.:Oh crap

Sarah_Jayne 02-11-2008 10:46 AM

You are blessed to be able to try to do something about it.

Watching a heart attack is the primary reason I have lost 70lbs so far. If I go that way it won't be without fighting.

Congratulations, that's great!

I actually had to look for a pic of this chick now, very very sad story, but sure enough she was overweight.

I went vegetarian a year ago for many reasons, but being overweight and ignoring your health is so bad. I live in the south, not a day goes by without seeing obesity and the serious implications it has on one's quality of life.

I saw a woman in the store the other day, must have been 100lbs overweight, she looked out of breath sitting and resting in the middle of the store and eating a bag of cheetos! She could hardly breathe, but was huffing junk food at the same time. Amazing.

I applaud anyone giving up things bad for you and attempting to improve their quality of life.

Just_Dave 02-11-2008 11:09 AM

wow that is really a sad story , that is just a crazy thing to happen

TubeTitans_SusieQ 02-11-2008 11:09 AM

yea I heard that on the radio this AM, apparently she was a poster child for juvenile diabetes, its horribly sad, but atleast she died extremely happy :(

Tom_PM 02-11-2008 11:14 AM

Yeah lucky and blessed is part of the feelings casserole that I've felt. That was initially afterwards and I was back home. Lately though it's more of a paralyzing effect.

Diet was not a contributing factor in my case according to my cardiologist and the swarm of doctors and medical students who were paraded through my hospital room daily. I almost wish it was, because I'm fine with changing foods and methods. Whereas quitting smoking and becoming more active is much much harder for me to do alone. Genetics I can't do jack squat about.

Persius 02-11-2008 11:14 AM

jesus that is pretty bad :S

CyberHustler 02-11-2008 11:24 AM

Something like that would probably happen to me. I get the whole lightheaded tingly left arm thing once every few months and everytime I see a doctor about it they say I'm too young for heart attacks. Plus they do all kinds of tests and I pass them all with no problem. I'll probably die from a heart attack while fucking my wife real good one day. Die happy like homegirl in that article.

Spyce 02-11-2008 11:27 AM

That is just so sad...

Fap 02-11-2008 11:29 AM

thats bad.. too bad for her 1st grade class

I never really ate like that in the first place but I have insulin issues and just decided to start eating to control my insulin and the weight loss has come with that (and exercise). The problem with eating the junk is that it is addictive and it is hard to break that cycle. I am not a full vegetarian but I eat any meat or fish product maybe once a week..twice at most. For me whole grains, low fat and a primarily vegetable based diet has worked for me. You can do a lot with various beans and lentils :)

jmcb420 02-11-2008 11:46 AM

Thats fucking shitty.

My dad died 3 days after his 48th birthday of a massive heart attack while strapping down a load just in the outskirts of Chicago (he was a trucker), almost 3 years ago, since then i've been trying to change the way i am because of it, i was never really afraid to die never really thought of it because im so young, but after my dad died like that it scared the shit out of me because my dad was NOT a fat guy, sure he had a gut, who didnt at his age... well i'm bigger then him, albeit i'm more active and eat better then him, but i used to eat just like him, steak and potatoes with tons of butter...

go get as many opinions as you can, my dad had mild heart attacks every 3 days for 5 years, went to doctors and everything they just said "oh its just bad acid reflux" so he kept chewing tums and shit to get through it, never really worked, we didn't find out they were midl heart attacks till after he was dead and the doctor said he had 4 major arteries 100% clogged

BradM 02-11-2008 12:09 PM

No. 98 is especially difficult: "You're the one I want to grow old with."

I admit when I read this I cried. It hurt my heart.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 02-11-2008 01:19 PM

Michaelious 02-11-2008 01:21 PM

I think that it is sad, although i've read a few versions of articles like this and they are trying to milk the sadness and tug on the heart strings.
