I agree. a close friend of mine committed suicide and i knew he was struggling incredibly hard with mental/emotional issues, but seeing his family dealing with the loss was so sad. it is a selfish thing to do; if he could have held on a little longer and found other ways to deal with the pain he could have lived and his family wouldn't have suffered the loss/agony.

Yeah... if we start teaching 'em young that might help a bit with the overpopulation problem. :winkwink:

If you feel the need to kill yourself. Do so in a way that will benefit somebody.

Donate your organs. Strap on a bomb and terrorize a terrorist camp. Do some wild human testing in Cambodia that will advance science.

Suicide is weak and selfish.

It doesn't matter....

It's like asking "when is it right to rape someone?"... and expecting serious answers... there is hardly any time when it's right, unless I guess you are dieing in a hospital from untreatable disease, hooked up to 50 different machines with zero hope of getting better... then I guess it's close to being the only time when it would be right to do it...

When I choose to. I live with so much pain 24/7 that I often consider it. By the way the state I live in it is legal...all one has to do is check in to the hospital...mission accomplished.

when you seriously don't have any other options, and it becomes a powering / noble thing to do. Such as jumping out of a tall building thats on fire instead of burning alive. Or doing something that you know will kill you in order to save someone else.

when i was in high school, in psychology class the issue of suicide came up and was being discussed... because someone off'ed themselves from the school. i was asked "what do you think about what happened" and i said, "good for him"

everyone got extremely upset and started in with the whole "its a selfish thing to do" bit and i argued that the selfish thing is to think of your own feelings and how it affects you and place those feelings and needs over that of the kid who just wants to end it. thats selfish.
