Who tips at Sonic (the fastfood restaurant)?
 

I always feel like I have to tip the server even when I just go through the drive thru. Yesterday I just went through to get a cherry limeade, and the girl stood there with that uncomfortable pause. So, I tipped her a dollar.
What do you think? Should I tip in the drive thru?????

Tipping at fast food restaurants is unheard of in my point of view, I've never tipped at those sort of places... maybe I'm just an asshole?

I've only been to Sonic a few time, they don't have one where I live, and I never thought about tipping.

Sonic's headquarters is in downtown Oklahoma City, about 2 blocks from the arena where the Hornets played the last 2 seasons because of Hurricane Katrina before moving back to New Orleans. Some local businessmen bought the Seattle SuperSonics and are working on bringing them to Oklahoma City. I wonder who might make a good sponsor for them?

I usually tip a dollar or two when I go there.

they have them in Florida and I tip cause the girls are fucking banging and they always kiss my ass about my cars anyway haha

They are in AZ and LA, Cali I know for sure. They are drive-ins for fastfood. You can pull up to a space, order food, and then eat in your car.
They have great food and drinks.

Down in NC we have them.:winkwink: I tip $1 and the change for the most part.

God damn americans and tip happy nonsense. They get paid to do that job. they do nothing special. why should you give them EXTRA money for doing nothing special?

I hate how they have the drive thru set up. After you order you pull up to a door and they walk it to your car. If they walled it off you'd never think twice to tip them for just walking across the room.

All I ever got from there was usually just a cherry lime-aide. I've tipped every time I go there, even though they always have an attitude. The last few times the cherry lime-aide sucked so I haven't been back. Screw 'em. :321GFY

The last time I went to Sonic was a few weeks ago, took the family after a movie.

Anyway, bill comes to like $15, I hand the kid a $20 and he says..."thanks."

I look at him and say..."I need some change."

That's the only time I have never tipped someone at Sonic.

fucking sonic! i HATE/LOVE that place! they always screw my order up and that's when they decide to answer the fucking call button and get my order out.

but shit the frito chili wrap, tots and route 44 limeade is required eating.

and i always tip them but the proper % of course, if i get a route 44 limeade, it's $2.11 so i tip ~39 cents, so i give them $2.50

I duno I never tip drive thru. always tip when they skate it out to me.. like 5 bucks... but in the drive thru FUCK NO your not supposed to....

I am torn. Typically I am very anti tipping unless I feel they went beyond what was expected. Yet having just recently gotten a Sonics here (yes in CA) and being able to sit in my car, take my time, order when I feel like it and as often as I feel like it by pushing a button, having some girl come rollerskating out to the car each and every time either with food, extra katchup, or to clean up. Well shit, they are doing more than most waitresses, plus doing it on rollerskates.

Not to mention here in the summers it can average 110 or higher and they are rolling about on an asphalt zone..

Guess I feel like letting go of a buck or two.

I just did a search on their site found ONE in the LA area and it's in ANAHIEM...I know the ANGELS of Anaheim think they are in LA but they are not.:winkwink:

The other 9 that are closets to me all seem weirdly enough to be in Bakersfield...Not one anywhere where REAL people live but 9 in Bakersfield.....hmmmm SUSPECT

one in bakerfeild and one in pumkin center. drive by them all the time. easier than going through rush hour traffic to get to anahieme for sure

lol I see professional sports players tipping a few bucks when I stay at some hotels. Kinda funny they tip the same for a car as they do to get a cab called.

i don't see a problem tipping at sonic by the way. they actually bring your food to you etc. It's not a standard drive through window

I never tip at any drive thru, they can stand there and give me dirty looks all they want. That said, I try to avoid Sonic when possible (thats always). We have a good drive-in in our town that is family owned and operated, so I go there. Food is cheaper and tastes at least 100 times better.

I just go to Sonics for the drink selections and how cheap they are.

i hate it when i go to sub shops like quiznos and they got a tip jar at the register. Now i am a good tipper and i always tip when i go out to eat however it just seems odd that they put a jar out at a fast food sub shop. When i dont tip them there i feel like an ass. so lame of them to put it there imo ;-0

I never noticed Quiznos' tip jar. I will have to look and see if the one by me has one.

Tipping is for jobs where they can go above the call of duty if they want to (and the tip is their incentive to do that). I would NEVER tip at fast food. They can't do anything outside of standard procedure, so they do not deserve a tip.

One guy I'd love to stop tipping is the pizza delivery guy. What a fucking waste of money. Why do they get tips when the mail man and FedEx do not?

I tip when I park my car and order from the speaker thingy. I dont tip in the drive thru.

I have only seen it at the one by my house. But i have also seen the tip jars at qudoba, milios, etc (more local type sandwhich and mexican places)

I always tip at sonic, Ive dated 3 girls that have worked there.. Hearing them bitch about it everyday just made me feel bad for the cute little pieces of ass so I always tip...

If I was eating outside, and they brought me extra napkins and maybe a coke refill, then most likely. However, as a corrolary: It's fast food. You don't tip for fast food.

Umm technically I do give them a christmass gift each year. Mailman and my fedex girl that is.

The mailman and FedEx guy get an hourly wage. Many of the delivery guys get paid $0.75/delivery and tips, and have to drive their OWN car.

Fuck the pizza dudes, specially with more and more charging a delivery fee anyways.

Sonics still is different, they skate to your car. They come clean up shit when you push that little button, or bring you more stuff etc. It is not like they are sitting behind a counter not doing nothing.
