Who knows if they really believe what they are saying. My guess is that they are just trying to cover their ass. It's obvious more terrorists attacks will hit the US eventually, and they don't want to be a future target. Canada isn't all that much different than the US, so they are just covering themselves now.

i think he's a bit out of line. the states do stick their noses in a lot of places where they shouldn't, but overal i think the states do a lot of good things. he is right, its this perception that these groups have of americans where they think americans are evil and should die. doesn't really mean they're right, but they think they're right.

I think it is sad that most of you misunderstood the article. altho I sincerely doubt half the posters read the thing.

Basically all mumbles(chretien) said was that *WE*, the western world are seen as too greedy by the poorer countries (we are greedy and it's a good thing in many ways) and that we walk all over the poor and attempt to dictate the way things are done all over the world without regard to how we affect the people.

As the USA is seen as the leader of the western world (rightfully, due to political and economical power) you got hit by some terrorists attempting to make a point.

Times have changed, the US population is about 9 times as large as the Canadian population. Its army is 30 times larger than yours. The odds are against you in such a scenario ;-)

Well I assume Canada has an army of more than 50,000 soldiers x 30 = 1.5 million soldiers, which is if I can recall correctly the active US manpower figure.

And since Canada is only spending 7.5 billion dollars a year on its military and the US around the 300 billion dollars, we could safely say that you are fucked ;-)
