Question for team Anti-Torrent ...

Do you guys think you'll be more or less successfuli with your new campaign against torrent sites than you were against Guba and Zango?

Let's face it, you could hardly be less successful, really.

»Rob Content« 08-25-2007 10:54 AM

I am not sure what exactly you are trying to say. I know dozens of webmasters who stopped using certain programs that were affiliated or are still affiliated with Zango.

I have personally hurt a few tube and torrent type sites, and I will be taking a few more out this week.

How is causing a site to lose tens of thousands of dollars not successful??

tony286 08-25-2007 10:55 AM

it just started and if you do any thing in adult this effects you also .So why be down on it?

No I did not, when you know how many memberships a site is doing daily, and then you cut off their processing and their main source of income, it's quite easy to figure out.

I don't really have time to debate with someone who obviously suffers from some form of idiocy.

If you support content theft, stealing from webmasters, stealing joins, stealing content, trafficking of CP, rape, incest content, then I really don't have any reason to debate with you.

I don't support it, I'm just making the point that you're going to be as ineffectual at stopping torrents and tubes as Airek was at stopping Guba and Zango.

Surely you must be against genocide and starvation too, right? Next on the agenda: fix Darfur!

Don't forget he has the help of a 5'0 DJ fresh off a stunning win in a crusade against Guba. Well, maybe not stunning and maybe not a win but he stopped going on and on about it so surely something must've happened, right?

Hey Daymon, how's it going? How go your "teenie" TGPs? Business good? Go with the flow dude, your in Costa Rica, so why not, right?

The attacks usually come from the biggest offenders. :(

Wow, you're, umm behind the times. Let me help you update your file.

Becareful saying my name outloud. Say it three times in a row and I appear! Beetlejuicing all up in your shit, yo.

Currently not running any TGPs. I believe the index of the site you're eluding to being catering to pedos has an index that says "this is index.".

I'm back in Canada for the time being.

Attack? I'm not attacking you, I'm standing on the side mocking you. It's completely different. No doubt subtle difference is a tough concept for you though.

So, you're part of team impotent too, right? Awesome! You guys are the Aqua Teen Hungerforce of the adult industry and we're all supporting you. Go get 'em, tiger!

L0stMind 08-25-2007 11:19 AM

well, sadly he is pretty bang on.

As much as I (and probably the vast majority of people) don't support content theft, going after torrent sites is pretty useless. If RIAA and such with all their backing couldn't win, how can the adult community?

Why is this subject popping up on every board?

Completely unrelated topic... but i'll throw this out there incase you know.

How is the real estate market in costa rica if one was looking into buying a vacation property? Good investment, or are the prices pretty inflated already?

And is there any good areas on the caribbean coast with water/internet/etc.. and easy access to airport?

You can support torrents and CP and whatever else you like. I've already shut down and cut off the billing from a few places in a week's time. As I said I have no time for a debate with an idiot.

RawAlex 08-25-2007 11:27 AM

Warchild, one of the things I have learned is the people standing on the sides mocking any efforts are usually the ones profiting the most from the fucked up situation that the business finds itself in. Enjoy making money from it.

Lostmind, one of the things that the RIAA didn't have going for it was a clear understanding of the problem and implications before they started taking action. They went though many long and complicated channels that just don't work. They were often defeated by simple offshore blinds and less than cooperative legal jurisdictions. They played all sorts of games with the goal of having their content removed. What they didn't realize is that torrent sites (and tubes, fake file hosts, and the like) are snakes... if you cut off the tail, they grow another one and keep going.

The funniest part so far has been finding that some of the biggest posters on GFY have their greasy little fingers stuck in the torrent pie. Sad, really.

My feeling is threads like this are mostly complaints from the weekend warriors complaining that they might not be able to download pr0n when they are in their dorms for the next semester.

So since you don't care I can toss all of your content on tube sites and use it to promote something else? Great thanks for the support.

I'm glad you have 500 friends on myspace, I bet the ladies are really impressed..

And you ask what grade i'm in, and you're on an adult message board bragging about how many myspace friends you have.

If I was making money off of torrent sites, I'd flat out admit it. I'm not.

I actually agree that content producers are getting shafted and I'm not trying to argue your underlying cause. You're probably right.

Being right does't always cut it though. Witness MP3, for instance. The nature of the Internet makes it impossible for a group of US content producers to stop this train though.

L0stMind 08-25-2007 11:47 AM

Hey Alex... so how will you guys stop torrent sites? Cutting them off from sponsor money? Going after their hosting? Always going to be offshore hosts willing to take their money and always going to be another sponsor wanting the sales...

VG.Content - cool that you are trying to do something. Torrent sites I don't think you can win at. there are definitely some content thieves out there that you can win at and I'm glad you are going after them (tube sites and forums etc.) Torrent sites though? IMO good luck. As a side note though... just because someone isn't beside you swinging a sword around doesn't mean they are against you either.

You guys are absolutely right in your cause, but you won't win against the torrent sites. JMHO.

Funny you and your buddy Tampa Toker were the first to point it out, and bring it up a lot. Afraid to look pathetic? Prediction... Torrent and tube sites only get bigger. You show me one example of p2p being stopped. EVER. And AGAIN what do you think is going to happen when broadband upload speeds increase? In less than 5 years people will be sending dvd sized files via instant messengers back and forth. So EVEN if you stopped torrent files and all p2p trading will never stop. The underlying problem is what needs to be worked on.

Do you understand the underlying problem?

Bust my balls and I bust yours, it's quite simple.

I'm not planning to take torrent sites off the net, I know it's not really possible.

I do know for fact that people who are ripped off on torrent sites can in fact make money from being stolen from. It's not always about taking something offline, sometimes it's about compensation.

So you are saying that content theft is only going to get bigger, and your solution is to open an affiliate program... Good business model.

L0stMind 08-25-2007 11:59 AM

So you aren't trying to take down torrent sites, you are trying to get them to donate money to the owners of the content they are facilitating theft from? Help me understand man.

Main article: eDonkey2000

On September 13, 2006, MetaMachine Inc., the developer of the eDonkey2000 client, agreed to pay $30 million to avoid potential copyright infringement lawsuits brought by the RIAA. In accordance with the agreement, eDonkey is to discontinue distribution of their software as well as to take measures to prevent the use of previous copies of their software for file sharing. The RIAA agreement has likely had little impact on the eD2k network as a whole; eMule had been the dominant client on the network since 2002, and it already represented over 90% of the network at the time of the agreement.[2] eDonkey was also outnumbered by aMule and Shareaza, the second- and third-ranked eD2k clients in terms of usage. The eDonkey client software that was currently available no longer works as a hard-coded check to the eDonkey2000 web site has been placed in the latest and last version of eDonkey in preparation for implementation of the agreement. Users that visit the eDonkey website, intentionally, or by simply using the latest eDonkey client, are greeted by an anti-file sharing advertisement, which includes legal and technical claims frequently made by the RIAA: "The eDonkey2000 Network [sic] is no longer available. If you steal music or movies, you are breaking the law.... You are not anonymous... Your IP address... has been logged." The automatic check to the official eDonkey2000 client's website can be disabled by assigning www.edonkey2000.com to an incorrect IP address such as 127.0.0.1 in the hosts file.

L0stMind 08-25-2007 12:08 PM

Ok VG, I'll just sit back and wait for you to win then.

Dunno how you are gaining support when you are just busy acting cool...

Personally, I'd love to help out but I don't see anything that makes sense so I won't bother.

ya like I SAID the network is still up and running. Files are STILL being traded. 1 company that was PART of the network shut down. You can STILL use their software even by changing a simple entry in your hosts file. Sheesh. :1orglaugh

People who want to help and take action are, others spew bullshit on GFY. If someone is serious they can e mail, icq me and discuss it more, like many have done. I'm not going to break shit down on GFY for the world to see, that is just moronic to say the least.
