[Labret] 08-22-2002 08:30 PM

Pathfinder 08-22-2002 08:36 PM

Did I overlook Shane (with Alan Ladd), which is my favorite western of all time, or is it on the list?

TeraBabes 08-22-2002 09:10 PM

It's not bad, but The MAtrix is about 33 spots too low...

True. Most movies made today it seems like they have the McDonalds execs right there while they're editing the script to figure out how they can create some Value Meal pack out of it or stuff a toy in a happy meal. Bullshit marketing!

Morgan 08-22-2002 10:11 PM

funny.... last week i ordered 3 movies from netflix:
taxi driver #31 and apocalypse now #32. along with harry potter too. but it was odd they came one after another.

I Only like about 50% of the movies listed, and the order they are listed is way off from my personal taste.

any movie list where "toy story 2" is twice as high as "being john malkovich" and internet geeks skewing starwars higher than it should be isn't exactly a definitive and binding guide.

QGals 08-22-2002 11:47 PM

Braveheart (71???), Pulp Fiction, and Goodfellas sould be higher

anyone seen Mulholland Dr.? heard its a good, but wierd, movie....was listed somewhere in the 100's

Kosch 08-22-2002 11:47 PM

Hm, i miss Deep Throat in that list...

I have. Typical David Lynch movie.
Some people like it, some don't.
I think it's just easy to make a weird movie, so it shouldn't be in top 200. I wish he would make good movies, too, not just weird

Bree 08-23-2002 12:31 AM

I liked The Green Mile.. didn't see that on the list.. and I didn't see these on the list and they are good:

Frank Herbert's Dune
U-571 (really excellent... IMHO) :thumbsup

Fletch XXX 08-23-2002 12:35 AM

Rosemary's Baby.

It might be easy to make a weird movie but it's not easy to make a David Lynch movie!

"The Straight Story" wasn't too weird.

FadeEP 08-23-2002 02:00 AM

I cant believe nobody has mentioned 'The Shinning' !

I don't either. The movie bored me, and DeNiro is one of favorite actors. But his role in the movie "Awakenings" was the most incredible acting i've ever seen him do. It's worth to watch this movie just to see DeNiro act. Pure brilliance. I'll never understand why he didn't get an oscar for that one.

Glad to see Shawshank and Memento up there in the top 10.

FuqALot 08-23-2002 05:07 AM

Why are once upon a time in america/west and carlito's way never posted by someone, I think I like these movies most.

Captain Canada 08-23-2002 05:18 AM

I prefer this list.

The AFI also put out a list of their picks for the top 100 movies ever made, you can see it here.

The Filmsite list is in alphabetical order while the AFI list is in order of best to worst.

Jodie Foster and Harvey Keitel are amazing too.

The music was great too.

The movie also remains timless and has shown to be a major influence on almost every aspect of modern pop culture, with such diverse students as The Clash all the way to the movie Seven.

Theo 08-23-2002 05:25 AM

I saw the godfather for one more time last weekend. Great movie, I love it, but I wouldn't put it as no1. I would vote for Apocalypse Now as the no1

Are you serious? Most of those movies on that list are boring. You and I must be of different generations cause half the films on your list were made before 1950.
