Who do you feel caused the most damage to this industry?

There are many angles and platforms for damage that I guess you could argue, but singlehandedly who do you feel has done the most damage to online adult since it started?

StickyGreen 05-04-2007 01:18 PM

All the easily-accessible free content out there now of course...

how about companies who steal producers content and get away with it and still live and work in the industry like nothing happened?

Karupted Charles 05-04-2007 01:38 PM

IMO anyone who was offering free trials with two prechecked xsells, hitting the surfer for $100+ in charges within 2 days of signing up. None of those people will ever use a CC online again.

People using sloppy methods to target traffic. For example children's site typo domains. Ridiculous.

We are our own worst enemy. It's pathetic.

A lot of good answers so far, but I'm going with TGP owners as a group. The industry didn't agree one day to flood the internet with galleries containing 15-20 hardcore pics. TGP's got control of the traffic and then strongarmed webmasters into creating "quality" galleries. Now surfers have an unlimited supply of free porn.

All the guys who raped the customers and billed them multiple times and sucked $100 million plus outta the biz and fucked the surfer so hard they would never pull their credit cards out again. I know one guy who billed 10 million worth of fake charges and then just up and walked the country, the merchant bank closed all the other accounts based on this one guys actions.

Xenophage 05-04-2007 02:31 PM

There is a company today that still says free signup and then bangs your card for $6.95 a month. Tons of people promote it. Bottom line people promote what pays the most, and the majority dont care what happens in order to get it.

Also Agree with the DMR and IBILL issue those 2 companies really fucked shit up bad.

Many of the newer people here were not around back then and have no idea how totally off the hook the biz was 5 to 10 years ago.

They dont know where we were so they have no reference to what things are today.

carol.prime 05-04-2007 02:32 PM

selfish people...
they do not have any concern...in the end all of us will suffer..

Yep kind of counterintuitive. Used to be you could use crappy sponsor content with a free host a bunch of banners maybe a pop-up or 2. Now they want fresh high quality content with as little advertising as possible. Excuse me but the whole point of someone of submitting a gallery is to SELL something not to provide surfers with free jack-off material. Galleries should have overused crap content. Free porn sites should be full of advertising and pop-ups. Surfing for free porn should be made as miserable experience as possible. That way the surfer is MOTIVATED to PAY for the HQ fresh content without the pop-ups and ads.

What gets me even more is that these TGPs now expect submitters to pay for this privilege. Considering how crappy TGP traffic is it should be the other way around.

It'd be like if Baskins Robbins version of a free sample was a regular single scoop cone then they ask me if I was willing to pay for a double scoop. I'd say "Um no thanks I'll just keep coming back for my free cone everyday because that's really all I need." Then they sit there wondering why they aren't making hardly any sales.

90+% of all gallery content is provided free by the sponsors to any goof that claims to be a webmaster...
