Remember: America is a continent, not a country...

Just to remember the ignorant usa people that America is a continent, not a country.

In German, we say Amerika to name the whole continent.

In Spanish, we say America to name the whole continent.

In Swedish we say Amerika to name the whole continent.

In other 34 languages we use, either America or Amerika to name the whole continent.

In asian language they use the equivalent to America to name the whole continent.

The only ignorants are those from USA (80% of this forum, lol, I will get a lot of hate replies) who think that America is USA... :1orglaugh

They will never learn, and I don't fucking care. I just want to make the other 20% know, that US citizen were, are, and will always be a bunch of ignorant idiots.

Even British maps show that America is a continent, not a dumb ignorant country.

So, we can say that it's not a problem from the english culture, but from the USA empty and stupid culture. :1orglaugh

Now, let's see all those US guys who will start feeding this thread with hate. :pimp

TeenCat 04-26-2007 05:48 PM

where is that america? search engines gives no results :Oh crap :thumbsup

It is a continent......NORTH America......and there is even a.....SOUTH
America....wow amazing

Damian_Maxcash 04-26-2007 05:52 PM

Its an English language problem.

In common usage, in most "English" speaking countries "America" refers to the USA.

You are also wrong when you say it refers to a 'continent' - it refers to 'continents'.

Actually you are wrong. I have relatives in Italy, Spain, Cuba, England and Germany. They do not say America to the whole continent because they are educated. We are a part of a continent, North America. Our country is the United States of America. We do not make up the whole continent.

Kard63 04-26-2007 10:25 PM

I completely disagree. It is people from other countries who started the trend of calling the united states "America". For years I resisted doing the same, but after talking to so many people from outside my country and noticing they do it a lot more than people from the united states I gave up.

*lol*

Actually agree... just thinking... most of the people I know refer to the US as either "the states" or "USA".

Sounds "odd" if eg.. you said to were flying to "America" - they'd prob wonder what you were trying to hide about the destination :1orglaugh

Since 80% of the forum uses the term, and understands that the United States of America, the United States, and America can be used interchangably; I think you're the one in the wrong.

It all depends on the context in which it is used, but since you don't understand what context is, you see all words as concrete. As a tip from me to you, all words are NOT concrete.
