I understand my American Gun Loving Friends......theory inside

The Freedom to buy guns is one of the last Freedoms they have! I would
be sensitive about that too :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

websiex 04-19-2007 08:50 AM

America is the country with the most freedom in the world, trust me. It is sad to see people that think America is an "unfree" state.

For one, they don't have a government agency looking at gfy daily. The US is free, but it comes at a higher cost than most other places in this post 9/11 world. :2 cents:

That's about it, and the US has a thriving underground drug economy unlike any other in the world.

Yes, but what does that question have anything to do with America not having freedoms? I don't get the "have you ever been to another country?" thing. Makes 0 sense.

Actually, it is untrue that there aren't other countries that are at least on par with the freedoms held in the United States. I feel just as free in the UK as I did in the States. It is a myth that the USA is the 'free' and every other nation is full of people held in invisible cages.

That is my point, I have no idea why people think the US is this big police state... If you came to the US from any other country, you wouldn't notice a difference in 'freedoms'.

websiex 04-19-2007 09:12 AM

ad hominem arguments and cliches.... pretty sad

yes, but you got people's backs up by saying without a doubt the USA was the most free...I get your point but it is all in wording.

It was a stupid thread to begin with.

What you don't understand, being a non American is that our 2nd Amendment is in place so that our freedoms can be defended against all enemies, foreign or domestic.

But keep on going on your America bashing, so that you can feel better about your country, while making your money on US dollars.

Both illegal, yet still just as popular as in countries where's it's legal.
Banning guns would have the same effect. Normal citizens(or "gun nuts") wouldn't have any. But the psychos still would.

The problem has more to do with a violent sub culture, huge black markets, and local and federal authorities that seem more concerned with pulling small time thugs off the street to make their numbers look good then actually going after the big fish.

Not everyone that disagrees with your gun laws is America bashing Anthony. That's probably the thing about the GFY populous that worst represents the American people to be honest. Every time someone says anything negative about the US, they're bashing them. Then the derogatory comments start, like how much better the US is than EVERYONE else.

I've spoken to MANY American's about a great many things, and thankfully they're not that arrogant in person.

Well, YOU are, but not many others that I've met. :winkwink: j/k

Don't fuck with my AK ... It's bad enough I can't legally grow a fucking plant in my backyard !

Seriously though, ... Some things need to change. For one thing, this fuck job in Virginia had a record of Mental Illness. This didn't popup in his "personality report" when he applied for the weapon. Even if it did I believe it wouldn't of mattered in the state of Virginia.

Some things are going to change ...

Red Flag = Mental Illness , Korean:upsidedow

I wouldn't compare drugs to guns. Drug prohibition is statistically a failure, and has been since its inception. On the other hand, if you look at states with assault weapon bans, etc, you notice that the gun crime is actually lower than the US.

I agree that possibly more bad guys would have guns than "normal citizens", but the murder rate overall would obviously decrease with strict gun laws.

tree 04-19-2007 09:30 AM

guns aren't toys,
they're for family protection, hunting dangerous or delicious animals, and keeping the king of England out of your face!

http://neil-mcgee11.tripod.com/siteb...g.w300h225.jpg

if we didn't have these guns, the king of England could walk right in here and start pushing you around.

D'you want that? Huh? Do ya?

How many trailer parks and ghetto's are in those places with the bans? That's part of the violent subculture I'm talking about. The people there aren't buying legal guns, they're buying stolen and black market imports off crack heads on the street for 1/5th the price.

Basically, I'm saying that making gun laws actually lowers the murder rate. It is just a proven fact, and there are statistics that show it works. It isn't a futile law like drug laws, it actually works - why not just use it?

Well, you have those Byzantine slander and libel laws, and London has more cameras than any big city in the US. And high taxes = less economic freedom. In the US you get to keep more of your earnings; thus, more economic freedom (which I consider one of the most important).
