I got owned by an Apple onsite technician

2 Fridays ago I had an Apple Certified onsite tech here to diagnose and fix this problem with my mac pro and today I noticed that he jacked 2 full gigs of ram from my system and replaced them with 2 512mb sticks.

PWNED!1! :(

oh yeah, and what would you do?

Sexsitesurfer 03-27-2007 01:46 AM

Can you retake ownership and get him sacked?

AlexN 03-27-2007 01:50 AM

I'd call them and have them get me a new mac as moral compensation.

digifan 03-27-2007 01:51 AM

Damned thief.

I think so yeah. It's totally obvious. I have my originaly order/receipt that clearly says 4x1GB and now its 2x1 and 2x512 and they're kind of out of order too like he was in a hurry or something. I just don't know if i should call the Apple contractor company that the dude came from or if I should just call Apple directly. I want to do whatever is for sure to fuck the guy I think.

Expo_Vids 03-27-2007 01:56 AM

Make it so!

:winkwink:

The guy is probably used to people who have no idea what is inside their computer the fuck head... he deserves all that he gets. You don't fuck with another man's computer!

Apple directly is worse for the guy and more likely to get the juicy payoff, no?

gangbangjoe 03-27-2007 02:01 AM

lol wtf was this dude thinking....

Probably worse for the company to possibly lose their contract or get minus points from Apple.

Shit, i know I'd be too busy to check immediately.

I'd be tapping my foot waiting for him to get out of my way so I could get back to work.

I probably wouldn't have gotten around to checking until a day after the warranty or whatever there was with my luck :1orglaugh

I wasn't suspicious of the guy at all and I don't check my systems specs regularly. who does? I don't feel the need to recheck that on a regular basis. Tonight I just happenned upon it because I was was thinking about getting a second one and I was double checking all the specs in mine to match it up against the new order and I spotted the missing ram. It's not unusual for people to go months without checking their specs.

TG Rebecca 03-27-2007 07:30 AM

geez that sucks. :( get him good. what an ass.

Juicy D. Links 03-27-2007 08:41 AM

pornguy 03-27-2007 08:49 AM

Have someone with half a brain call apple and pse as an attoreny. Dont say to much legal shit, but make the threat clear.

They will get it fixed.

if you go all the way up Apple chain to head office I am sure the guy will get shit and so will the company he works for.

Jakke PNG 03-27-2007 09:05 AM

Maybe it was an honest mistake? What was the problem he came to fix? Maybe it was a memory problem, and he accidentally replaced in the wrong memorysticks?

You know, I'd like to think that and I have considered it. But the guy is an expert, I don't see that as likely. I know, I can hardly believe it myself.

Calling Apple now.

stickyfingerz 03-27-2007 11:53 AM

*assumes mac lover mindset*

Just one more reason I dont buy macs....

*back to non coffee drinking pc lover*

gornyhuy 03-27-2007 11:55 AM

It happens to the best of them. You can't honestly claim you've never made something absolutely ridiculous mistake that you never should have done..?

Maybe I'm too naïve but I always assume that people didn't do something bad on purpose. It has sometimes happened to me, and when I call them up later and address the issue so that they get the image that *I* think it was an honest mistake, they usually correct the issue without any hassle. I don't actually think that I've ever been basically told to fuck off... I think my way of doing things has had 100% success rate.

..I don't know what yelling and cursing on the phone would accomplish that a polite inquiry might not. Maybe I'm just too nice, but I know that if I had made an honest mistake and some asshat started to yell at me on the phone and calling me a thief or whatnot, I'm not sure I'd make his/her life any easier by doing their bidding.

GatorB 03-27-2007 01:00 PM

I'm glad I own a PC. Any problems and it's easy just to open it myself and fix it. No one to steal my stuff.

Lance69 03-27-2007 01:14 PM

Phone calls to both and email with cc'ing everyone as well. A call from a lawyer would probably help too. Or you could call him back and choke him out.

JD 03-27-2007 01:15 PM

damn dude... i'd be stomping dudes head in right now...

I would tell his supervisor and demand to not only have the ram back, but to get a free ipod or something. I would also tell the technician he was a piece of poo.

BobG 03-27-2007 01:20 PM

So Apple says, one way or another, I'm getting my ram back but I have to wait for them to talk to the tech who is currently out stealing other peoples ram.

I feel a loss of piece of mind. I paid top dollar for this system and now, for all I know, along with the ram, other parts of the system could be compromised forever. If he stole my ram, maybe he fucked something else so that I have to keep taking my comp in for repair. I feel like I deserve a new system. I would settle for a full inspection to make sure that no other part of the system is compromised but of course, now I don't trust them to poke around in my system. What do you think? Am I trying to milk it or am I justified?

In my humble opinion, you're trying to milk it.
