Announcement... Shap and Mrs Shap Moving Back to Toronto! (Job opportunities inside)

Six years ago, Beth and I packed up and moved from Montreal to The Bahamas. At the time we had no idea what to expect. It was just Beth and I running our little network of TGPs. We had no employees. No Paysites. No Thumbzilla. It was just us putting in a lot of hard work. We pulled so many all nighters it was sick! But no matter what, we were determined to continue growing as a company. Our hard work quickly started to pay off. First came Twistys. Then we bought Thumbzilla. Then we opened our office in Toronto. And now here we are. Our company has continued to grow each and every month and now we are determined to grow and expand our company to an even higher level. Our goal is to be one of the biggest companies in our industry. To accomplish this, we are giving up island living and moving to Toronto.

We are looking forward to the move and the new opportunities that will present themselves. We recently purchased a home in Toronto and so will be moving back this summer. We definitely look forward to meeting the local webmasters and getting to know you guys some more.

For those webmasters in the Toronto area (or who are willing to relocate to the Toronto area) and are interested in working for us, please get in touch asap. We are going through a huge expansion this year and we will be hiring a lot of new people. If you feel you would make a good fit for us and our team, please email kevin at twistys dot com and let us know why you want to work for us, what you can do and why you think we should hire you.

Thanks :thumbsup

Nice job on the success you have had. I envy the list of free sites you have, but I think you will regret that move come Oct or Nov this year. Anyway good luck on your new ventures, if I was to ever work for anyone in this industry, your company would probably be on the top of the list.

As a side note.. whats the reason you're not expanding from the Bahamas?

aimeesweet 03-23-2007 05:21 PM

Must be tough leaving the Bahamas... but I wish you both lots of luck and success on your move to Toronto!

It's hard to control things from a remote location.

Sosa 03-23-2007 05:25 PM

Hope your move goes good shap. Good luck with. So many of the pics look like we were just down there yesterday but it was 9 months ago lol. Loved the Bahamas and Paradise Island

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 03-23-2007 05:29 PM

I grew up in Hawaii, so I can understand how you can finally decide to move back to a large urban area. You can always go back and visit the islands, and you will carry a piece of paradise within you forever.

If I lived in Toronto I would be tempted to try and find a position in your company just to learn about how it operates from the inside. I am sure those that take advantage of the opportunities you are offering will benefit greatly as they help grow your empire.

Best of luck to you and your family on the big move and on the future growth of your business.

No I mean why not set up shop in the Bahamas. I can't believe it would be too hard to convince webmasters to move there.

WiredGuy 03-23-2007 05:33 PM

You're leaving the tax haven and warm sandy beaches in exchange for tax hell and artic tundra?! Are you insane!! Welcome back :)

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 03-23-2007 05:36 PM

wow, fantastic Pics.

LadyMischief 03-23-2007 05:39 PM

Awesome! Maybe we'l get to do dinner before we LEAVE TO :P

Shap 03-23-2007 05:51 PM

Btw with regards to why we are leaving the Bahamas... We've been here 6 years and we had decided a few months ago that we were ready to move and try some place else. We decided on Europe initially, so we spent Christmas/NewYears in the South of France looking for a home. After looking at only 3 places, we found one we loved. (pics below)

Before making a huge move like that, we thought we better evaluate the situation further. Where is our company today? Where do we want to take it? How can we do that? After weeks of thinking about our future we realized that we've come a long way but we haven't even scratched the surface of where we want to take things. We honestly feel we have the ability to double and triple our company size. So we figured that the only way to make it happen was to move to Toronto and expand our office and our operations (since we are already set up there.) So that's what we decided to do.

Here is the place we found in the South of France. It was absolutely perfect. The view was unbeatable.

Anyway, this house will have to wait. We will definitely move there one day. It just won't be for a few years yet. :winkwink:

Shap 03-23-2007 05:51 PM

I'm off to dinner. I'll answer the questions here when i get back :winkwink:

crockett 03-23-2007 06:02 PM

Wow the last house you just posted is a great view.

Shoehorn! 03-23-2007 06:04 PM

Do you own or rent the place in The Bahamas? What are you doing with it when you leave?

Looking forward to meeting you when you get back , We were just having dinner yesterday with Mike and I was asking him about how hard it must be for you to run the company remotely.
