Meg - the old lady at 14:

Ferd, 11 and Meg (still 14 :winkwink: ). Ferd has lost feeling in his back legs and will be getting some wheels soon - ZOOOOOOM!

Ariel - 2.5 years old (3 in August). She's the "token black pug" :) :

And Riley - the bad, bad puppy - will be a year old in April - he's scrunching up a downfilled cushion which I'd stress more about except he already tore off the bottom and I have to get it completely recovered because they no longer sell that fabric. I love him though:

No problems at all with bitch fights? My two female rottweilers decided it's time to kill each other recently :(

tony286 03-19-2007 08:46 PM

Profits of Doom 03-19-2007 08:48 PM

I have a pug named Egore that just turned five. The two of us together snoring at night could wake the dead.

Yesterday Ferdinand, the crippled 11 year old, decided to make the puppy know who was dominant. It was pretty funny since he was basically using the puppy to prop him up while trying to hump him :1orglaugh

They get into MASSIVE fighting sometimes that lasts all of 15 seconds. I made a mistake once and tried to break it up and ended up with a bruised knot on my leg that was there for months. I STILL can't believe they haven't hurt each other.

And there's always growling over "Mom" (me) space and food. But overall, they are the happiest dogs in the world :)

fris 03-19-2007 08:51 PM

yoda rocks, i am thinking about getting a pug myself

Yeah it's the damnest thing for me and it's really got me down. I originally had a male and female pair, they're about 5 years old now. A few years later, in Canada, I rescued a timid very submissive female. Actually my sister who is a vet took it away from some people that were trying to put her to sleep because she had been sick. Vets don't kill dogs on a whim so my sister took her and I was originaly supposed to board her until she found a new home .. After a few days she won my heart so I kept her.

Fast forward a year, the youngest is now 2 years old and strong as a bear. Her and the original female have started fighting. Not over food, toys, me or sleeping spaces, only when they get very excited. Like fence running or see another dog or cat. Then it's the most terrible thing you can image, no barking, no growling, just jaws locked on throats. I also got bitten breaking it up once, which has to be done, because they don't stop. I think I'm going to have to find a new home for the young one which makes me sad.

One thing I have learned is you can stop a dog fight in it's tracks with a pressurized hose to the face, it's stop fighting or drown and they stop pretty quick. Trick is to keep them apart after.

That story just totally sucks :( The younger dogs will go around biting each others faces and the old dogs trying to get them to play, but most actual "fighting" is done over food or some imagined trangression - I can't tell you how many times I've awoken to them going after each other like crazy because one woke up and thought the other one was doing something.

The best part is watching the young dogs chase each other around the house. If the old dogs are in the way they just run under or over them. It's great free entertainment :)

Riley's not a bad puppy. They're all bad till one year or year and a half, then they suddenly get the brains.

Pete-KT 03-20-2007 07:14 AM

My Dad sent me that link a few months ago. I still watch it at least once a week as a little "pickmeup" :) The full video on Youtube has him saying he did it because his girlfriend put HIS dog in a crate and sent him a picture thinking it was funny, lol.

My little dogs LOVE the laser.

You gotta step in that's a dominance fight unless you make yourself the boss over them they will keep fighting. Dogs only try to take dominance if they don't see anyone else filling the role, and ESPECIALLY with Rotties you have to FIRMLY establish your leadership every second of the day.

Tanya_AWP 03-20-2007 08:12 AM

They look lovely....:)

Yeah, he's the first pug I've gotten before the age of one. Ferd was 1 (approx) when I got him and he was bad too, lol. Now he's just an tired old dog :winkwink:

Plus I needed a new den chair, new coffee table, new carpet, and new dining room chairs any way :)

TheDatingNetworkCameron 03-20-2007 08:36 AM

Awsome pictures. Got two 7 month old pugs myself.

I'm going to have to disagree. This is a common misconception. You see dogs are not retarded, they know you're not a dog. You can be as dominate as you want towards them and it won't change how they act towards each other.

Sometimes, when you have dogs of the same sex together, they can't figure out a dominate order amongst themselves. In my case, the younger dog wants to be the alpha female, and the older dog isn't going to give up without a fight. This happens less often with males as they seem to be better at working out who's in charge through rough play and "competitions". When it happens with two females, called bitch fighting, it's almost always worse. The dogs will fight until one is killed and there's very, very little that can be done to modify this behavior.

All three of my dogs will down, out, sit, stay, come on command without hesitation. They know who's boss, they're righting over who's #2.
