My daughter graduated from boot camp today!

I sat and watched in Great lakes as my daughter of 18 years graduated from Naval boot camp. We had a nice day afterwards and on wednsday, she's off to school in florida. She got 2 ribbons, one for marksman for the pistol, I laughed when I talked to her chief, a 9mm is smaller than any other pistol she's fired! Probably won't see her in a while, but I raised her so I know she'll be ok!

Rankings 01-26-2007 06:54 PM

Nice, congrats to her

Z 01-26-2007 06:59 PM

:thumbsup to her!

Big_Red 01-26-2007 07:01 PM

great job! now off to fight useless wars.

Mr. Jim 01-26-2007 07:07 PM

I wish you both a very heartfelt and sincere congratulations to you and your daughter. To have the courage and honor to serve our country during such a violent chapter for our service members shows character.

You should be proud and tell others how proud you are... When you speak to her next let her know there are millions and millions of us out here that say "thank you" for your sacrifice in serving and may the wind always be on her back and the sun upon her face...

We should be so lucky to have her and those like her.

Groupe hug!!!!!

baddog 01-26-2007 07:39 PM

Nothing better than a daughter that can handle a firearm. Congrats to both of you.

needlive 01-26-2007 07:42 PM

Congratulations to her first. Not to forget you, who raised her. A fantastic moment, the graduation is. Seeing your child grow up...

Mr. Jim 01-26-2007 07:46 PM

I think it is sad to make sarcastic comments about a young person who wants to serve the country. Regardless of the current administration and the cluster fuck they have put our nation in the middle of...

We should still be proud and commend our service members.

sicone 01-26-2007 07:57 PM

Damn.. seems like just a week ago you were sending her on her way.

Congrats to her.

J.R. 01-26-2007 08:02 PM

Good to hear, Wish her the best!

starpimps 01-26-2007 08:08 PM

congrats to her =)

nAtuRaLbEautY 01-26-2007 08:12 PM

congrats, man! i'm pretty sure you're so proud of her!

Axzar 01-26-2007 08:18 PM

Been there, done that.

Now she is off to A School to learn her trade. Then off to War (Eat Snacky Smores!)

Navy was a good choice, she should get to travel quite a bit. In four years I went to Europe, the Carribean, and a few places in Canada.

Good times.

nico-t 01-26-2007 08:24 PM

must be a bliss if your top boss is president Bush.
I'd rather kill myself then getting killed for his and his buddies' pockets, thank you very much.

OG LennyT 01-26-2007 08:26 PM

military service is very honorable.. congrats to you both

Nobody has asked you have they... so stop pissing on a proud parents moment.

Even if there was not a war in progress mouthy turds like you would'nt have the guts to serve.

When the thread was posted it was to announce a proud moment and you come in here and give nothing but some stupid ass comment about how YOU would do this or YOU would not do that I would kill myself blah blah blah

guess what... THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT YOU IS IT!!! some threads are appropriate to take an assholes position on and some are not.

All yo accomlished was getting in the way of an adult conversation...people who can understand the long term benefits of a military background and you come in here and use it as some weak anti Bush platform.

OUR country is not happy with him at all across the board counting the days to get him out...

you can debate me all you want and I will keep coming back to this... shut your mouth you were not asked and there are times when you disagree with the very core of something you should just shut your fucking mouth and just keep walking... What have you done...serve your country?

This was a post where you thought you would look like some anti war guru... it was not about the war and it certainly not about what you and your opinion is...and the only thing you look like is some jerk off who shot thier mouth off PERIOD

Nobody asked for your opinion... be an adult and just keep your mouth shut...this had nothing to do with this fucked up war it was about a parent watching a child grow into an adult and you have no point of reference so again shut the fuck up.

AdPatron 01-26-2007 08:43 PM

What was the other ribbon for?

Mr. Jim 01-26-2007 08:46 PM

Most likely National Defense

Thanks BD this one hit a little close to home... and as you know I spar with trolls for sport...keeps the claws sharp:winkwink: Nothing is more irritating than uncalled for and unsolicited opinions on a personal matter involving family

Hey Peaches how are you :1orglaugh ... your son has to be close to his EAS (End of Active Service) no?

Kard63 01-26-2007 09:06 PM

You have a good memory - he would have finished up his Japan tour this Feb. with a possible EAS April next year. Unfortunately, he passed away in March, 05. I probably shouldn't have brought his graduation up, but V knows and shares how proud I was.

DWB 01-26-2007 09:11 PM

Congrats!!!!!

That should be posted again! Thank you and very well said. The " is anti-Bush no what" people are very very self centered and the really funny part is they do not have the ability to see their OWN agenda. They are robots that just repeat what the media and Hollywood movies tell them word for word.

With that being taken care of..............................

I am very happy for you baby! You did a great job and she is going to be a very very happy fulfilled girl in life. I hope you enjoyed your time together and I can't wait until you get back to the office so I could get all the details.

I agree!

The total disrespect for those serving in the US Military is horrible. People fail to understand you don't serve the US President, you serve the Office of the President - no matter what donkey is currently in there.

Congrats to both you and your daughter Brett.

Vendzilla 01-27-2007 05:53 AM

I knew someone would make an anti-war statement, these people would rather hide their head in the sand and wait till the fight comes to them and that's fine. I for one would rather see a world that pulls together for a greater good than one of closed borders. The other ribbon was the defense ribbon. And Peaches I do remember your loss, and the loss of other parents that lost there chidrens lives in this war. My daughter first came to me with idea of going in the military, she wanted to look at the army. I told her about the bullet proof vest and kevlar helmit that are part of the uniform and she asked about the Navy. Not too many sailors getting shot in the Iraq. For those that haven't served, you'll never understand,at 18, My daughter does and is a better person for it. She'll go far in life. She told me that if she gets the highest score in "A" school, she gets the pick of duty stations, so she told me she will be the highest score in her class. One of her chiefs was a bubblehead like her old dad and she now has a better understanding of me by talking to him, everyone else in her division thought he was a bit crazy, he made her feel like right at home. At this point, pride can't be measured!
