I think I'm going to donate my hair to kids with cancer (pic)
Well I'm sick of my hair, it's sooooo long that it sticks to my ass crack so I hope they will be able to make a few wig for the kids, I thought about selling it to some rich old lady but I think it would be better for the sick kids, do you agree?
http://www.imitationcreations.com/pi...estival/22.jpg Anyone here have short hair? I need to find a good cut. |
thats a noble idea. donate it!
|
It's a very nice thing to do. My girl has done it 3 times so far. The first time her hair almost hung to her knees.
|
That's a great idea!
Being close to this situation myself I know how much of an impact you will make in the lives of cancer patients! Thank you |
very nice idea, they hold a fund raiser in our town every year for the same cause people lineup to have their heads shaved for the kids
|
Wow, props to you! You have beautiful hair, and it looks like there's enough to make more than one wig even.
I'd say go for it, and be sure to keep us updated with pics! :thumbsup |
awesome!

a few years ago when I cut all of mine off.. I did the same thing.. Donated it
I miss it now sooooo bad.. but glad someone was able to use it :-) |
Mine was waist length when I chopped it off, and I gave it to Locks of Love.
It was a good feeling. :) |
That sounds like a nice idea.
Go TA! |
that's a very awesome idea. :)
|
Great idea, time for a change...maybe.
Sometimes having long hair can also date your age, so this could be fun :-) I could see u getting rid of alot of inches, but still having enough for a new awesome cut. Let us know. |
My girlfriend's mom is battling cancer for the third time now, so she does this when hair length allows for it. She just had some chopped off a few days ago. :thumbsup
|
I always cant have short hair, cant allow myself to have long hair.
|
just cut a foot off or so..and donate that...you will still have nice long hair:)
|
Good for you! I think its a great idea :thumbsup
|
It's a truly wonderful choice to make. Many years ago my brother grew his long enough to donate (back then the minimum was 15 inches). I also had a close girlfriend who did similar.
I cannot even begin to imagine the feeling one must get knowing the difference you made in a very sick persons life. Not to mention, think of the good karma you would be banking ;) |
Good idea, you have beautiful hair though so dont chop it all off
|
Nice one TurboAngel, great cause! :thumbsup
You have lovely hair, it will definitely make some sick kids smile :thumbsup |
Very nice of you. I appreciate it.

|
yeap thats noble from u:)
|
I did the exact same thing..my hair was about as long as yours, chopped it off and donated it to the sick kids :)
|
You have lovely hair :)
A note about donating hair.. and this especially applies to Locks of Love. Do your research! In the case of Locks of Love, you don't have to go further then their site. How many hair pieces have they provided since they first started? Were those hair pieces free of charge? How many ponytails are needed to make a wig? How many ponytails do they receive each week? Notice any discrepancies? The biggest question of all (and one they never seem to step up and point out in these big cut-a-thons), are the majority of the kids receiving these wigs suffering from hair loss caused by cancer? Don't get me wrong, everyone who has ever donated hair to them has acted out of the goodness of their hearts and I think that is wonderful. However, they donated under the assumption that their hair specifically was going to help a child, and the majority of the time a child with cancer. Just going by directly what is on the Locks of Love site, this is NOT the case. Sorry for the rant, this is one particular issue that bothers me tremendously (obviously as I have lurked here for a VERY long time without feeling the need to post) My advice would be if you are going to cut your hair, go ahead and sell it to that rich old lady, and then donate the proceeds to a children's charity you feel strongly about. |
Wow you are a lurker huh? Thanks for the tips and all the nice comments.
:) |
thats a great thing to do :)
|
I did that a few years ago. I wonder who's wearing my old hair?
|
good for you ,if I had hair I would do it too lol
|
What a good thing to do :)
|
I had hair past my ass, cut it all off and donated it. Do it. :thumbsup
|
Before you just hand it to the wrong person, call the American Lung assoc. They take all sorts of dinations, and might be able to help you with that.
I donated them a car, and got a 6k tax deduction. |
I donated my hair to Locks for Love when I left college for the corporate world. It's a win-win for everyone.
