Let me know if you snag it before I do, then paypal me $20-$50 for the heads up.

interracialtoons 01-20-2007 01:18 PM

Oops....that's starting bid with a reserve...sorry.

Boobs 01-20-2007 01:20 PM

BVF 01-20-2007 01:22 PM

GAMEFINEST 01-20-2007 01:22 PM

reserve must be high

You mean you couldn't find a site? The owner could be squatting on the name without parking it.

leming 01-20-2007 02:10 PM

I think it willl work for you

borked 01-20-2007 03:08 PM

$20-$50 for the 'heads up'
you're a bit of a shark aren't you
and that domain is worth around $30 imo

roly 01-20-2007 03:17 PM

he's selling it as a 3 letter domain but it's only a 3 character. i wouldn't have thought it was worth even $99

Klen 01-20-2007 03:19 PM

100$?Not bad prize.

I mean i went to a domain selling site and typed in three character domains to see if any were available..I couldn't find any at all...I wouldn't even bother with trying three letter domains...I could blindly type three characters on my keyboard and they were always registered.

Sorry for being so harsh but believe me I have spent hours trying :1orglaugh

MrJackMeHoff 01-20-2007 05:24 PM

I wrote a script to check all possible 3 letter domains (17 thousand plus) and none are available.. Just give up its too late

MrJackMeHoff 01-20-2007 05:28 PM

Heres the script
================================

@letters=("a","b","c","d","e","f","g","h","i","j", "k","l","m","n","o","p","q","r","s","t","u","v","w ","x","y","z");
@hold="";
$uphold=0;
##generate 3 letter domain names

#$a="";$b="";,$c="";
$first=0;
$second=0;
$third=0;

until ($end) {

$word = "$letters[$first]$letters[$second]$letters[$third]";

$hold[$uphold]="$word.com\n";$uphold++;

$third++;
if ($third > 25) {
$second++; $third=0;
}
if ($second > 25) {
$first++; $second=0;
}

$masscount++;
$updatecount++;
#if ($updatecount == 100) { print "$word\n"; $updatecount=0;}

if ($word eq "zzz") { $end=1; }
}

$sz = @hold;

print "\n\nMade $sz of em \n";

$count=1;
$wrote=0;
mkdir("out", 777);
open(b,">out/section_$count.txt"); ## which is 1
foreach $_ (@hold) {

print b "$_";$wrote++;

if ($wrote == 499) {
close(b);
$count++;
$wrote=0;
open(b,">out/section_$count.txt");
}

}

close(b); ## if open

I hate the whole reserve thing on ebay.. just start the bidding at the lowest price you will take.

yeah, I am not sure I understand the logic . . . .unless they are just testing the waters.

woj 01-20-2007 05:38 PM

it's kinda useless, I can't even imagine what it could be used for...

MrJackMeHoff 01-20-2007 05:40 PM

haha I even tried a number version of my script using 3 dig #'s and none were available either.. See other post above.

The logic of it is this:

I have in mind what my smallest price is but I know I'm fucking greedy and if there are lower bids I can still decide to sell it for that, even though I have a reserve price.

If I start the bidding off at the reserve price then no one can bid lower.
So I lose my chance to accept a lower price.

Plus the number of bids helps people decide to bid also since they notice that the item is of interest to others therefore probably worth a price.

If you have no bids with a price of $3000, people are wondering if you are just selling shit and don't want to be the sucker.

interracialtoons 01-20-2007 05:54 PM

PS: about bidding and reserve;

If the bidding is good but the reserve is not met, you can re-list the item and email all those that bid and announce that you will list it again and what time. This is a timed event and you may have simply run out of time before they reached your price. You can also have a private auction just between the big players so they know it's going to sell without bullshit price bumps from idiots and then start the bidding off at the reserve price.

No? Are you sure about that? Im sure the Bank of Jamaica, Bank of Japan, Business Opportunities Journal and a lot of other sites would be willing to pay top dollar for that domain name.

Any 3 letter domain name should never sell for less than $10,000, if you sell it for less than $10,000 you are just an idiot.

Right, except it's B 0 (ZERO) J, not BOJ. It's three characters, not three letters.

BVF 01-20-2007 08:11 PM

Lykos 01-20-2007 08:26 PM

b0j.com is going to sell for $125.00 at least, the reserve was met with that bid.

I found a couple of deals for you if you still want a three letter domain.

To me it's about what can be done with it.

I don't type in paypal.com I do x.com

it's just easier.

So if you are competing with the same content as bigmonstername.com
maybe you blow then away with the short name.

The best thing is to make sense out of the name as it applies to your site so that the surfer can remember you for ever after just one visit to the site.

like B0J (Below Zero Justice) COLD Hearted street justice caught on tape!

I bet you fucking like that, don't you? :1orglaugh

They are always on the expired/dropping list - just grep for them with
^[a-z0-9]{1,3}\.com

just because there aren't any doesn't mean they are worth anything. It just means the domain prospectors have snapped them all up
