[[DRAMA]] So BoyAlley, what lucky poor person's Christmas was improved with the 5k?

Let's change a life, right?

So... what life was changed? We all know WEGCash had the winning bid (http://www.gfyboard.com/showthread.php?t=685086), cause, uh, you wouldn't accept my bid, thank God (http://www.gfyboard.com/showthread.php?t=681835&page=5).

And we know that no one cares that you were in XBiz (http://www.gfyboard.com/showthread.php?t=691262).

And we know you care more about posting about survivor than how some poor family's life was changed forever (http://www.gfyboard.com/showthread.php?t=687736).

Wasn't the point of the auction to create a holiday Miracle?

Where's the fucking Miracle?

sicone 01-11-2007 09:50 PM

sicone 01-11-2007 09:55 PM

I always think it is a brave, brave person that calls someone out during convention season, especially someone who had to travel half way around the planet to get there.

I am impressed.

Uhm... EW. What on earth is YOUR dramas?

That's one thing I've not understood about this industry since I've entered it exactly, the blatant hate that I see directed toward people that do things like, oh, raise money for various charities left and right.

What the hell's up with that?

I've raised about $20,000 over the past 5 months for various charities, and each time I do so people get a bug up their ass about it.

You're not the one that donated the money, you're not the one that raised the money, and you're not the one doing the work to make things happen. That would be WEGCash and myself, both of which are on the same page.

I've been in touch with WEGCash on a regular basis, and we both decided it best to wait until after Christmas because charities that I work with on the local level were overwhelmed by the holiday season.

I've worked up a list of prerequisites that both I and WEGCash want to see in a recipient, and the hunt has been on going since after the new year, which has been a little over a week now.

So how about you criticizing those that are working to do good, you get off your ass and done some good yourself? Huh?

BTW: Just out of curiosity, what kind of pathetic insecure little nat are you that you need to take pictures of monies and post them on GFY to make yourself feel significant?

Many of us keep our monies in places like banks, instead of flashing it about like a frustrated drug dealer making a gangsta rap video.
:2 cents:

No recipient was found in time for the holiday, that is correct. The charities have been contacted, the money has been secured, and we're waiting for an appropriate family to be found.

This isn't a JimTheFiend kind of incident, sorry. No dramas here, just some over worked charities.

BoyAlley 01-11-2007 11:56 PM

Now I need to get to bed, it's 2am and my gay powers are fading, I'll soon be talking butch and be wanting to watch football or hockey or something.

This month's auction: Create a holiday miracle.

A family will be chosen after we see how much this auction raises, and find out just how much good we'll be able to do. It could be a battered woman who's finally left her husband and is trying to take care of herself and her children. Or maybe a family that lost everything in a Hurricane.

You need a charity to help you find some who is down on their luck and in need ???? It shouldn't be hard at all to find someone who can use the money.

You mention possibly having it go to someone who lost everything in the hurricane. I can find you someone REAL fast for that one if you want the help.

It's your deal I don't care how you do it, I just hope it gets done and confirmed. If you want to get it done I take time out of my busy schedule for a cause like this and find you a family.

Well thats good news, if you couldn't find 1 family in over a month that could use 5K dollars then we must have a shortage of needy people. Glad to know that the world is doing much much much better these days.

It's Jan 12th. Are the charities still being overworked from the holidays ?

I know some people here say you shouldn't have to ask for proof of a donation, but when the money being collect for something that doesn't happen and time goes on and nothing gets reported and more time pasts, etc.... well I hope you can appreciate some people asking you questions and wanting to follow up.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-12-2007 12:34 AM

You have done many good things Boy Alley, and I know you will this time too.

Here is a model program helping people that you might consider donating to (I do):

Emergency Housing Consortium

I hope others whom click on this thread will consider donating as well.

Yeah it seemed to me as though this thing was falsely marketed as a tear-jerking help change a single mom's life in time for Christmas miracle, and it never happened. So how is it any different?

I want our community to change a life.

While most donations that all of us make go into large charity organizations, where we never see first hand the good that it does, this holiday season I wanted to do something special that won't only effect the life of one very special family, but will touch the hearts of all in our industry as well.

There are a LOT of good causes in this world, and a LOT of people that need a LOT of help for a LOT of different reasons.

The reason I chose this particular cause for the holiday season is simple:

It's a lot easier for people to identify with an American family facing hardship, where they will hear about their circumstances, and how their lives have been changed, than it is for them to identify with a blackhole of a charity where they never really see how the money is put to use.

Yes, large charities are more efficient in the ways that they spend their money, and can do a lot of good for a lot of people for a lot less. But at the same time, there's no way to identify with that on a personal level.

When the results of this auction are announced, whoever the top bidder is, everyone will be able to read the story of this family, and how their life has been changed, and I suspect everyone will be touched on a personal level, and just maybe some will be inspired to give to charities that haven't done so before, or that don't do so on a regular basis.

No matter what, everyone will walk away from this experience and holiday season with a warm feeling in their hearts.

More Bullshit
