Straight up... I'm going blind. I don't know why; I'm going to the emergency room tomorrow because it's the fastest way I can get a referral to an opthalmologist. There's a shortage of them in Canada, the normal wait to see one is about 28 weeks according to one source.
I've been having spells of total blindness that last 5-10 seconds for about a month or more now, I thought it was a migraine symptom. (see migraine with aura). It didn't take long to realize there was a lot more going on than that. Possibilites now include diabetic retinopathy, which is abnormal blood vessel growth and bleeding within the vitreous humour of the eyes (I've never been diagnosed with diabetes, but I have symptoms)... Migraine (If I'm lucky) .. Brain/optic nerve tumor... Detached retina, or some combination of the above.
Well, it's all guesswork at this point. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a diagnosis and a direction.
At the rate my sight is degenerating I won't be able to read normal print in a week or two, which will put a quick end to ... a whole lot of things. Including reading the boards. (On top of that, it HURTS to read).
Cross your fingers for me. I'd like to stick around a while.
