they know what I do but ignore it. Whenever people I don't really know ask me what I do it's always "affiliate marketing aka I sell stuff on the internet"

explain your work as "internet marketing" but use lots of technical words while doing so and they'll just think its way over their heads. But, they will be more comfortable someone with extensive knowledge in their field of work is dating their daughter instead of "would you like fries with that" or "paper or plastic"

LOL my wifes family is mormon. I tell them I do internet marketing and affiliate program management. I throw around some words like Google PPC and Search Engine Optimization. blah blah blah. They have no clue.
