middle of the night (3am hehe), I had a crave to take some pics... grabbed the camera, tripod, and took off driving...

found this spot on the freeway on a bridge... pulled to the emergency lane (was narrower than my car), got out, set up, and took a shot... almost got hit by a car driving by... was pretty scary

got me thinking though: (maybe not this specific shot), but in general..
-Is it worth it?
-Who am I doing this for? Why?
-Should I risk my health/life to get the shot I want?

I'm not comparing myself to them, but looking at some of the great photographers' work and the risks they take to trully capture what they see... i'd have to say YES, it's worth it every time.

Neat picture, too bad you couldnt catch it with a train moving through :)

I havent really put myself in danger to get a shot, aside from maybe leaning too far over railings.

I've stood out in lightning with metal tripods many times and I love chasing storms ... there's something addictive about capturing an exact moment in time and storing it.

I took heaps like this on an old nikon cool pix a few years ago because I didn't want my good camera to get wet LOL

The most dangerous thing I ever did however was a few months ago ... I dropped a switched on lamp in a bath while shooting a model - who was in the bath ... which was full of water. But at least the video camera was running the whole time ;-)
