December Toons Deal ... [And new toons to see!]

We're running a December deal ... no ... not to celebrate Christmas ... but to celebrate Twisted Girl's birthday! YA!

So... we're gonna do the following ...

on one character ... 10% off ... ok ... so if you are quoted $200 ... you'll get $20 off ... BUT ... what if you want multiple characters?

We're gonna offer a THREE character toon, for the price of a two character toon. Ok... so... this could save you $200. PLUS, we'll drop the 10% off of the whole rate. You could end up paying as little as $360 for three kick ass quality toons. This is kind of stupid of us really ... we're UK based ... the $ against our £ is fucking crap. So we're gonna lose out. BUT... It's worth it ... because then you lovely people will get the quality you deserve :)

This only applies to characters, and will not extend to background work. That will destroy us... :)

Also... the figures quoted above are example figures. We don't as many people know, have menu pricing. So shout us up. You'll get an accurate quote by doing so :)

Here's some new examples of toons we've done recently ... we have a LOT more coming but we're waiting on client approvals before showing :)

All toons come at approx 4000 pixels wide or tall depending on the toon. The work is hand drawn and then digitally lined and colored, entirely by hand. Not one ounce of automation is used... and we NEVER outsource the work :)

great stuff :thumbsup as usual :thumbsup

mightyjoe 12-06-2006 07:42 AM

they still looked wierd to me. something like from outer space creatures, so maybe they are good for techno or alien theme site.

sorry, i adore bluewire toons

Twisted Dave 12-06-2006 07:59 AM

Ok man ... fair enough that you prefer Blue Wire ... but ... I totally 100% disagree with you about the aliens look. I think you're working for Blue Wire ;)

hehe

Seriously... Blue Wire are the best at what they do ... the characature images... but they're not really toons in the traditional sense... and I'm sure BlueWire will agree that they're incomparable ... completely different type of image.

But your opinion is noted ;) ... even tho it comes across as a bit rude ;)

Itchy 12-06-2006 08:02 AM

Fuckin sweet toons !

Dave was only kidding around.. lol

Unfortunately MightyJoe's comments come across a little bit rude!

We both think that you guys do amazing work, it's just different to our stuff! :)

reynold 12-06-2006 08:35 AM

Another great stuff there, dude. :thumbsup

LOL ... yeah ... I was only kidding about MightyJoe working for BlueWire ... I just didn't REEEEALY see the need for him to come and slag the stuff off ... saying all our stuff looks like aliens etc ... well, it's obviously far from true ...

HOWEVER! I do not mind in the slightest! :) I don't get annoyed by that kind of shit ... I actually chuckled as I read his post :)

Thanks for the comments by the way ... I truly do believe that you guys do the best characature style work, hands down. No one comes close.

We have our own style and I'm confident in our work... but it is a specific style ...

You know I've actually sent about 5 or 6 clients to you in the last two months because of the stuff they've asked for. :)

wil_I_Am 12-06-2006 09:15 AM

wow.. great job!!

Do your customers need to have a good idea of the kind of toon they want you to create, or do you guys come up with the concepts (based on the site) as well?

Jakke PNG 12-06-2006 10:10 AM

Those are nice, but I *really* *really* dislike the eyes on almost all of your toons. Bad proportions and too dark outlines. Apparently you CAN draw good eyes (as with the first pic), so I really want to know why you draw most of your toons like they were women who REALLY didn't know how to put on makeup and put on black mascara way too much...

rodney25 12-06-2006 12:06 PM

Great work there, guys. :)

Manowar 12-06-2006 12:20 PM

great work

RBC 12-06-2006 12:32 PM

awesome toons, show more :)

Dshady 12-06-2006 01:15 PM

Nice Work!
You guys are doing some really great stuff, and it seems to be getting better and better!

Keep up the good work!

You don't know anything about women I take it ? Haven't you ever seen black eye liner? It's pretty common ... and I could count plenty of girls I know who put thick black liner on, as it's part of the style ... You say the proportions are incorrect... I disagree... they're stylised.

We draw the way we want to draw. And so far, only about 0.5% of people have told us they don't like our style. We get hit up continuously throughout the day ... so evidently, you're in the minority. Again tho ... thanks for your observation. We'll not take your advice tho ;)

itto 12-06-2006 03:13 PM

hmm. well im with teengodfather.. i also dislike the eyes you draw, but thats just a matter of personal taste i guess.
overall your toons are of very good quality - nice and clean.

but the eyes suck :)

LEFT: sucky...........RIGHT: thats the way to draw an eye!

No ... you're wrong because that's entirely subjective. I could draw eyes like that if I choose too... it's not exactly hard! ... but why? Because you say so? Nah... I draw eyes the way I draw them because I like them the way I draw them. Contrary to some people's views, I'm not in this biz to make millions. How could I ? Our toons are too low cost to make any serious living from. We have other projects on the go that are going to bring in the serious cash... still character based ... but not commissions. I'm in this biz to draw characters the way I want...

I take note of what people say, but I'm not going to draw eyes the way some picture from the internet says I should do :)

Anyways ... never mind. If people don't like our eyes, they don't have to buy our toons ... draw them yourselves :) hehe!

not some inet picture mang, I drew that and i've been doing that for a long time.

..but im also aware that most artists cant handle (constructive) criticism.

LOL! Hey man ... it's fine ... I'm not annoyed ... I'm not irate ... I'm fine ... I do take critisism ... but as an artist you should realise that just because you drew that image ... and you believe it to be correct ... doesn't mean that you're right... You gotta admit that right?

Remember ... these toons we do are FAR from realistic. If I was doing realism, yes I would do eyes like that .... but dude... come on... our work doesn't require that kind of eye. I don't like realism in toons ...

But listen ... it's not that I'm arrogant... I just don't see why I should draw eyes like yours ... what's the point in everyone doing the same shit? You stick to your eyes, and I'll stick to mine! :)

And I appreciate your skills man... I'm sure you're good at what you do ...

BUT ... I'd like to say ... your eyes SUCK in this pic dude ...
http://boards-illustrated.com/19.jpg

;)

Seriously, I don't mind the critisism ... But I stopped drawing eyes like that in life drawing class back in college :) It's just not needed for the work we do on most of our client's works ...

Anyways ... stick around and when it's done, I'll show some of our new IP stuff ... I think you'll like it :)

har, yeah your right!!! they're WAY too realistic! lol.

no seriously man, of course every artist should have his own style, thats the way to go - and as i said: i really dig your work!! this whole eye-thing has gotten outta control :) (i still dont like em! mhwaha - but there are hundreds of people that DO like em, thats the cool thing about art - you can choose!)

notabook 12-06-2006 05:53 PM

First one is kinda weird looking (but in a good way :winkwink:). I *really* love the second one though. As for the eye deal people seem to be having... what the shit? If everyone drew eyes the exact same every time (a 'perfect' eye) we would have never gotten to see some of the great artists out there like Picasso or even that one guy, you know the one, he had the yellow hat and he played that one white-haired guy on Showgirls and he also used to play baseball and he also hooked up his speaker system backwards so that front channel audio came out the back and vice versa and his foot got infected with the deadly motaba virus.

:) Yeah, the eye argument got out of control, but in a good way ... I LOVE a good discussion/argument... and I always find that you make better friends in industry if you have these kinds of discussions ... you know where you stand... Great :)

I appreciate that man ... but... what the FUCK?! LOL! hehe...

Anyways ... December Deal ... :D LOL

I have made this comment to you before about the eyes in most of your toons..they are out of proportion, over sized and they are flat..they have no depth or contour..I have seen a few toons you have done that the eyes look like they do belong with the rest of the toon...but I have to say all the ones with almond shaped eyes of the type in the 2nd toon always look like they were flat and pasted into the face.

You really do great work otherwise, but this feature alone would keep me from hiring you to do any toon work.

just my :2 cents:

good luck

Dominic_M 12-06-2006 07:20 PM

Art is subjective, so everyone deserves to have their own style...
I like the second pic. It reminds me a bit of Bruce Timm's style (Batman, Justice League) but with a bit more detail in certain areas.

Ok man ... thanks. I'll not look forward to your custom :D lol

Hotrocket 12-06-2006 09:01 PM

Well...are you not here advertising your services and art work to potential clients?..if I was someone trying to market my products and services and I had multiple people telling me I had a good product if I could just make an adjustment to one aspect of my product..I would consider those comments to be a sign that possibly I need to listen to the marketplace and offer what they are asking for.

Yes I understand that art is subjective, but at the same time you are selling your art to people..you aren't just doing this for you own enjoyment.
If I had an artist that I contracted for work, I would expect them to be flexible and give me what I am paying for, not tell me.." I disagree..I like the way it looks thats just my style"

I'm not trying to slam your work..as I said above you are obviously very talented ..just trying to give you the point of view of someone who has an artistic background, has purchased toon work for my sites in the past and probably will in the future as well.

again, good luck :)
