why do you use Opera ?

I mean other then checking how it looks for about %1 of surfers that use it.
enlighten me.

revolte 10-13-2006 11:12 AM

Firefox is better than Opera.

That's laughable. FF cultists like to brag about how much fewer exploits for FF than there is for IE. Well I have NEVER heard of ANY for Opera. So appearantly Opera is more secure than FF.

Ebola 10-13-2006 11:21 AM

I love the "paste&go" function, "go to URL", that kinda stuff.

martinsc 10-13-2006 11:26 AM

it's faster...
but i also use ff a lot..

scottybuzz 10-13-2006 11:43 AM

The fact you can watch download movies as they happen, more transfers allowed than i.e6

but they are just small factors. Maybe it rocks because of the speed/multitabs/good feel to it/plus a damn fine browser

Zester 10-13-2006 12:02 PM

but what about the fact that so many sites are not compatable to Opera ? or are they ?

dennisthemenace 10-13-2006 12:09 PM

Just to test with... It never really grew on me

Adultnet 10-13-2006 12:12 PM

I don't know .. mostly i use firefox its doing good :)

gooddomains 10-13-2006 12:13 PM

nobody needs opera

psili 10-13-2006 12:16 PM

I just downloaded and have been surfing with it for the past few minutes. Same feel as FF and it actually is faster. Good for it.

ImLost 10-13-2006 12:40 PM

for fun .

tranza 10-13-2006 12:45 PM

I dont.

;)

marketsmart 10-13-2006 12:46 PM

opera and firefox are about the same...

bobby666 10-13-2006 12:51 PM

i use opera since it appeared on the market - it's the fastest browser i know
i like the zoom function, as my eyes are not the best one i can easily zoom text to 110 oser 120 %

mrthumbs 10-13-2006 12:51 PM

I love the opera mail reader and its a really fast browser

Zester 10-13-2006 01:44 PM

so its fast....

rodney25 10-14-2006 07:32 AM

I don't use opera and any of its services.

kaori 10-14-2006 08:52 AM

I love the speed, love the zoom, and find it compatible with 99% of the sites I use..
I also love the single key keybrowsing - 'z' to go back, 'x' to go forward..
I just wish it would support plugins like firefox!

cess 10-14-2006 09:05 AM

I haven't used opera since it came out years ago...

Violetta 10-14-2006 09:38 AM

It is fucking fast, looks good, NO popups and I LOVE THE MOUSE GESTURES!!

OneWhoKnows 10-14-2006 09:55 AM

My reasons:

- FAST
- Most secure
- Most advanced tab browsing

Dunno if FF does that aswell now, but in Opera i can move every Tab where i want it. But anywayz, Firefox is also pretty cool, but I'm just used to Opera and I like it. So, why should I change? :winkwink:

NinjaSteve 10-14-2006 10:50 AM

i don't used it

there are quite a lot of exploits for opera (of course not so many as for IE)
i have 3 browsers on my PC now (just to check how sites look like in all of them) but for surfing i prefer opera. can't say why. just a habbit :upsidedow

You can also zoom in IE. Hold ctrl and use the scroll on your mouse. Or use the zoom feature which is located right above where the clock is.

Adult-biz 10-14-2006 04:14 PM

Fantastic browser. Ultra fast, never crashes on me and as we speak I have some 30 windows open!

It`s amazing why Opera has never been side by side with Firefox as the alternative browser.

bl4h 10-14-2006 04:17 PM

I think it looks great, both the gui and the way it renders pages. I love the download system. I dont use it much though

squishypimp 10-14-2006 04:20 PM

i personally dont use it, i like my IE :)

VicD 10-14-2006 05:14 PM

good question, nobody knows

Manowar 10-14-2006 05:16 PM

I prefer the new betas of Firefox

Tempest 10-14-2006 05:36 PM

Google is now behind Opera as they have a deal to be the primary search for Opera and they're pushing for Opera to become the browser of choice for mobile products. So anyone not ensuring their sites operate in it are going to be losing out.

Probably the main reason they're not as popular is because they had the ads. Those went away with the Google deal so now they're playing catch up.

The new version of Opera also has some bittorrent stuff in it but I haven't checked it out.

I love the transfer feature in Opera for when you're downloading lots of content zips, videos etc. all of it listed on the one page, restart and stop control etc.

If they ever add this option, I'd probably use it

Are the firefox plugins anything like the Opera widgets? http://widgets.opera.com/

netpimp 10-14-2006 06:35 PM

Opera rocks.

Short cuts for search engines in the title bar.
(e blah = search ebay for "blah", g blah = search google for "blah"

Mouse Gestures
CSS Acid2 test compliance
Free
Not a real large memory hog
tabbed browsing system rocks
According to Secunia, Opera 8 and Opera 9 both have 0 unpatched known flaws.
Cross platform

Firefox is my second browser of choice, with IE as 3rd.

Opera does have some extensions (widgets was their official name last I checked), but the system isn't quite as nice as firefox's extension system.

BitAudioVideo 10-14-2006 06:58 PM

i like the icon, easier to find on my desktop =]

madawgz 10-14-2006 07:08 PM

i tried opera, but im sticking with firefox :)

Bird 10-14-2006 07:09 PM

It's faster
It's tabbed
It's got mail client
It's got bit torrent
Hit ctrl+f11 view mobile pages
browses wap
It's Got some cool wigets
BLocks All Pop ups
It's Got a feed feeder

Opera make a Browser for every device.....

Only One Problem.......Datinggold sessions do not allow login from opera.

Spunky 10-14-2006 07:13 PM

I don't use it very much anymore as I like IE7 much better

minusonebit 10-14-2006 07:19 PM

Why would I use a piece of shit like that when there is Firefox? The last version of Opera I installed had ads in it that wanted me to buy it. Buy a web browser? Even Microsoft gives thiers away, I am not buying it.

No ads anymore.
