Greatest Punk Rock Album All Time?

Gotta Be Either...

Clash: London Calling or Sex Pistols: Never Mind the Bollocks

What the fuck else could it be?

Adult Search Results 09-21-2006 08:37 AM

London Calling got me into Punk Rock at the time :thumbsup

escorpio 09-21-2006 08:40 AM

"The Ramones" - The Ramones
"London Calling" - The Clash

SxDx 09-21-2006 08:44 AM

All good albums. I'm a HUGE Social Distortion fan. So, I'll throw 'Mainliner: Wreckage from the Past' into the mix on this thread. Or "Mommy's Little Monster'

Dragar 09-21-2006 08:45 AM

classics

Excretor 09-21-2006 08:46 AM

KILLDOZER "Little Baby Buntin'"
S.O.D "Speak English Or Die"

TSGlider 09-21-2006 09:26 AM

Hard to argue Ramones too.

SykkBoy 09-21-2006 09:31 AM

The Meatmen "We're The Meatmen and You Suck"
The Ramones "The Ramones"
The Damned "Machine Gun Etiquette"
Sex Pistols "Nevermind The Bullocks"

WebairGerard 09-21-2006 09:36 AM

all those mentioned are great ones. Dig Social D. too.

E$_manager 09-21-2006 10:03 AM

chris01282 09-21-2006 10:14 AM

Sex Pistols without a doubt :thumbsup

Evil Chris 09-21-2006 10:16 AM

I still like Weezer's first CD (the blue one)...

It's more Punk-Pop though.

munki 09-21-2006 10:17 AM

NOFX... Rancid... Social D... The Offspring... The Ramones...

I could throw a few others in the mix that have had some insane albums and huge impact on the scene as well.

Gouge 09-21-2006 10:34 AM

Dead Kennedys - Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death

Or any album from The Misfits

facialfreak 09-21-2006 10:39 AM

I'll vote SeX PiStOLs ..... but change the album -Ten Pole Tudor :winkwink:

I'll also agree with Ramones ... but The Clash was Pseudo-Punk - albeit a decent album, definately not worthy of 'greatest punk album'.

thricer 09-21-2006 10:41 AM

Sex Pistols album sux really bad, I'd go for Clash or Ramones... and maybe the Buzzcock's :)

TSGlider 09-21-2006 10:46 AM

Reminds me. Anybody remember Flipper's first Album. Was it called Album? Ferocious fucking shit.

jollyperv 09-21-2006 10:49 AM

My favorite would be The Kids s/t, a punk band from Belgium that I doubt anyone on here has ever heard. 3 dudes, one was 14 years old, one was 16 and the other one was 21.

As far as mainstream, Ramones first 3 records.

As far as influences are concerned, the 3 most important motherfuckers that ever lived were Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Johnny Thunders, in no particular order.

smack 09-21-2006 10:50 AM

The Clash - London Calling.

hands down. :glugglug

facialfreak 09-21-2006 10:53 AM

What about 4 Cocks and a Box?

SykkBoy 09-21-2006 11:00 AM

I can't believe I forgot Suicidal Tendencies "Join The Army" and Dead Kennedys "Bedtime for Democracy"

If it weren't for the NY Dolls, there would have been no Ramones.

I'll go ahead and add Stiv Bators to the list of important motherfuckers.

LOVE JOHNNY THUNDERS! His Hurt Me acoustic album always scratches me right where I itch.

BlackCrayon 09-21-2006 11:17 AM

i was never big on british punk. for me it would either have to be dead kennedys or black flag. as for which album, i couldn't say.

jollyperv 09-21-2006 11:17 AM

Here's 4 songs from that Kids record. They were literally kids when this record was recorded.

the alchemist 09-21-2006 11:20 AM

I would have to say NoFX's S & M Airlines :thumbsup

I LOVE Little Brown Asses 09-21-2006 11:36 AM

I'll agree those listed here are all important, and early, but none get my vote for the BEST. Of course, "best" is a matter of taste and preference.

I's have to say my two favorites of all time are Bad Religion "No Control" and Snapcase's "Progression Through Unlearning." :2 cents:

The Sultan Of Smut 09-21-2006 11:43 AM

Sex Pistols

SykkBoy 09-21-2006 11:51 AM

hmm

Would also have to include, for novelty purposes anyways....Old Skull "Get Outta School" a bunch of 9 and 10 year old punk rocker kids, haha

E$_manager 09-21-2006 12:09 PM

Nirvana counts?

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 09-21-2006 12:09 PM

Since I was actually around to see the evolution of punk, I would have to say that the foundation was laid by Iggy Pop and the Stooges, and their album "Raw Power" I consider among the best:

The Clash were great innovators, and I am partial to California bands like Black Flag, and Dead Kennedys. Jello Biafra and Henry Rollins were great spokespeople and woke people up to anarchy. As much as I liked Johnny Rotten and his post-Sex Pistols band Public Image Limited, I thought the Sex Pistols were simply a Malcom MacLaren product.

Lots of good bands named, let's not forget Bad Brains, and the NYC bands either...(besides the Ramones, which were a polyster version of the Sex Pistols - three chords and an "OY!", lol).

I have been listening to Green Day almost every day for the past few months.

"American Idiot" is a classic.
