Fox News' bias is beaming through super brightly this morning

Every few minutes for the past half hour or so where they normally put a title for what they are covering they have been putting up:
How Dare Hugo Chavez Blast the United States?

They should have changed the name of this station to Fox OpEd many moons ago:upsidedow

chupachups 09-21-2006 07:55 AM

Faux sucks donkeyballs

Where do you see that .... He said Faux News sucks ...

Tom_PM 09-21-2006 08:08 AM

Now Fox is asking if we should buy Chavez's gas from Citgo, lol whoa.

Now they say the iranian president is chavez's "best buddy". Is that right?

See the thing is, it's no problem to voice opinions, when it's an opinion show. News organizations should not be biased, else it's not news, it's opinion.

Thats why Lou Dobbs' show is *explicitly* labelled as a news *and* opinion show. I dont normally watch Fox, so maybe they use the same disclaimer?

Did I say that?

It's claims to be a news channel. While it was putting up that title, it was rotating it with several others. One said, "Hugos Cheap Oil: A Cheap Trick On the US?", another said, "Should we stop buying Chavez' Citgo Gas?" which apparently they realized was misleading so they updated that one to say, "Should We Stop Buying Chavez' Gas from Citgo Stations?".

Now while the President of Iran is holding his press conference the title says,
"Axis of Evil Leader" Briefs Reporters at United Nations".

These are titles more fitting for an OpEd Website or publication, not a channel that claims to be a fair and balanced news source.

mardigras 09-21-2006 08:17 AM

I'm comparing CNN and Fox News coverage of the Iranian president's press conference at the same time. As they update the titles highlighting what he has recently said, CNN has:

Iran Pres: (comment here)

Fox News is rotating:

"Axis" Pres: (comment here)

They can claim that all they want, but everyone knows already about their political leanings.

I always find it fun to watch americans fight about politics - but, why do the "left" people have to constantly point things out, like Fox News' Bias for example - doesnt everyone already know their biased? If it bothers you so much why do you watch? Why is it so irritating to you?

Phoenix 09-21-2006 08:18 AM

stickey seriously man?
does fox news suck you off every night?
why do y ou always battle against the obvious?

this is no conspiracy...fuck we dont even let "fox news" be broadcast up here

because it is not news..i remember the first time i saw it..i thought wow 1984 is here

notabook 09-21-2006 08:20 AM

Bah you all don't get it, it's fine as long as they put a question mark at the end! They aren?t saying those things, they are just asking a question! Jon Stewart got it absolutely right in this video where he explains the ?Cavuto? mark:

There's no question marks following the "Axis" Pres: titles currently showing...

Doesn't bother me at all, I find it quite amusing and wanted to note the obvious ramping up of their normal bias.

BTW, I watch all news sources available to me.

That?s easily explainable, merely user error by the teleprompter. In order to help provide jobs for Katrina victims, Fox News hired a retarded guy to run the machine. He does a great job most of the time but as you can see there is the occasional error. It?s all good my friend.

thx for sharing it!!

RawAlex 09-21-2006 08:34 AM

According to Drudgereport, the CNN people are catching up to the Fox people... even a month or so ago, Larry King as was the top rated program on CNN (I know... who would think that 800,000 people would watch that dodder old fuck?). He would be running about HALF of what the fox news people were getting. This week, the numbers are a little different:

CABLE NEWS RACE
TUES. SEPT 19, 2006
VIEWERS

FOXNEWS O'REILLY 1,932,000
FOXNEWS SHEP SMITH 1,405,000
FNC HANNITY/COLMES 1,396,000
FNC BRIT HUME 1,381,000
FNC GRETA 1,284,000
CNN WOLF BLITZER 912,000
CNN LOU DOBBS 848,000
CNN COOPER 790,000
CNN ZAHN 783,000
CNNHN GRACE 770,000
CNN KING 706,000
MSNBC SCARBOROUGH 444,000
MSNBC OLBERMANN 444,000
CNNHN BECK 425,000
MSNBC HARDBALL 413,000

Now, I know CNN is still behind, but they appear to be on their way to higher viewership, which suggests to me that less and less people are buying the bullshit that Fox "news" is serving.

woodysm 09-21-2006 08:38 AM

Well If DICK Cheney watches FOX then it must be alright LOL! Here is a link that I found that kinda fits in with this thread :) Check out: upcheer.com/images/foxnews/ - cant post the full URL cash I am still a newbie on the board :pimp

mardigras 09-21-2006 08:40 AM

Now they have up, "What Right Do Chavez & Ahmadinejad have to Bash Bush?"

Someone at Fox News clearly has ruffled feathers this morning...:1orglaugh

chupachups 09-21-2006 08:42 AM

Whenever I see something done by Fox I laugh so hard.. they´re a bigger threat to modern society than most of Bush's ghosts and windmills.

Well answer the question then. The leader of a little piss ant latin country and the head of a third world dictatorship. What right do they have to say anything about the SUPER DUPER POWER the Unithed States has become. They are far from equal.

websiex 09-21-2006 09:03 AM

Chavez seems like a really nice guy... 40 million barrels 40% below wholesale to US citizens... doubling that this year.. can't beat it really. :thumbsup

I doubt EVERYONE knows. My kids don't know.

mardigras 09-21-2006 09:05 AM

It gets even funnier, now they have up:

Chavez Insults the US
Where is the Outrage?

I don't recall Chavez insulting the US.

He's clearly stated he only has a beef with the leadership, not the people.

OMG, they just put up as a Fox Fact, "Chavez an Embarrassment to Venezuela" :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Thank you for qualifying 'everyone' for me, and for clearing that up to those who thought I literally meant everyone. :thumbsup

THis is an open propaganda. I didn't think they could behave like this.

mardigras 09-21-2006 09:08 AM

These titles are getting even funnier, they just put up:

"US Giving U.N. $5Mil a Day to get Insulted"

Funny how Fox is starting a boycott against Citgo and says that it is a "story".(even tho they made it up)

And they also said Chavez insulted America, even though he just spoke the truth about America's GOVERNMENTS policies. The people of America have NOTHING to do with the government, it is all controlled by the rich elite. I think this guy has more merit than anyone in the government, but I wouldn't personally want a dictatorship.

Truth be told though, this guy cares more about Americans than the current US politicians.

Tom_PM 09-21-2006 09:10 AM

Thats funny, them asking "what right". I thought we were trying to spread the rights of free speech? lol :P

So you're saying that the media is responsible for the lack of insightful, objective thought in the general populace - and should therefore not say anything that is opinionated because most people dont think for themselves?

Are you're saying that the media should save people from themselves? Or that the media should be censored as to not publish/broadcast any opinion that is contrary to what is considered 'right' by one part of the political spectrum?

I dont know.. im just asking questions.. please clarify what you meant.. because im sure you didnt mean to say that some 3rd party should censor what is shown...

As a footnote - I've never watched 1 second of fox news, Im canadian.

CHAVEZ HOPES P.R. STUNT WILL WIN HEARTS IN HARLEM

I take back saying they should have changed the name of the channel to Fox OpEd... more like Fox Comedy Channel:1orglaugh

Fox News, just as all of the other 24/7 news outlets is primarily composed of talking heads/opeds. It only has four actual news shows per day. If you choose to you can tune in to view the actual news shows and avoid the talking heads. Is Fox News biased, yes. Is every news media in the world biased, yes, or at the least I have not found any that are not (English speaking that is, as I only understand English).
