i can live COMFORTABLY in my area on $3k a month... i pay $400 a month rent for my 3 bedroom house, $50 for electricity/city bill, and $100 for heating... $350 for car payment, and $140 for car insurance... now that adds up too $1140 a month, that leaves me with $1960 to use for food/gas/spending money... thats pretty damn comfortable... all because the area i live in, isn't huge and costs shitloads for a crappy place... thats why i refuse to move away from my town, sure its not the GREATEST city or place to live, its not a WELL know area, but guess what, i'd rather live in bumfuck iowa, then in chicago or new york and pay out the ass in prices

I love how people scoff at $3k a month. That is the average HOUSEHOLD income here in Vegas. A person making $8 an hour at Walmart makes $1280 a month if working 40 hour shifts a week... and that is BEFORE taxes. That's $15,360 a year. The average couple holds jobs at places like this for that hourly rate, so when you scoff at $3k a month, you are scoffing at a good % of this country. Not everybody is an entrepreneur, and not everybody lives as extravagant as a lot of GFY.

The only time you should look down on somebody is when you are helping them up.

As far as the origional point, very true - you have to earn respect not pay for for it - so it shouldnt matter what your income is.

On the 3K debate - well it depends on where you are - 3k here would be very tight - in the US less so - In some SE Asian backwater you would be rich beyond most of the populations wildest dreams and could live like a king. It also depends on your background and and ambitions.

where do you live that it costs $400 a month for a 3bed house? i consider my area very cheap to live, and i have a rental house only a few blocks away from me thats smaller that i rent for almost twice that.

If your making 3k a month in the city I live in your in the upper middle class average income here is $10.00 an hour.
