The united states is becoming the world's super power, we pretty much run the UN and any country that even thinks about a attack on the US has picked the path of self destruction.
What do you think?
Is the US in sight of world domination?

History repeats it's self, but when we do fall the end has come for all

Correction; we are not becoming, we are the worlds greatest economic and military power.

We are not out to dominate anyone per se, but we have, and will continue to do whatever we perceive to be in our best economiic interests, giving little concern to whoes toes may be stepped on.

That is the primary driving force behind our foriegn policy and many countries have a problem with our success in this endeavor.

China is still a threat. They have over 1.2 billion people and they are becoming wealthier as a country all the time. They have lots of nukes and a huge army.

We also run a large island right off their coast called Taiwan. :1orglaugh

America just tries to make sure other countries don't fuck with its way of life

It's evolution in it's finally stages combined with the natural desire and need of territory, world domination is what's left to take

I agree. Why would anybody want to take over the middle east? Besides the oil that will run out in 50 years....its a crap hole full of dirt, sand, and more dirt.

Thats funny when you say that the US should take over other countries, espcially when the US is being taken over by Mexico.

I will repeat; the USA is not interested in taking over land, but is interested in maintaining, and improving, itself economically.

Again I agree with Pathfinder: the US has no interest in conquering anyone in the traditional way. It's just an economic imperial power, tweaked when deemed necessary by the use of force.

pr0's point speaks to this: we DON'T WANT the other places. Do we want Puerto Rico as a state? Hell no, because we'd have to pay for it. Pure evolution/economics. The strong does as it likes to continue it's way of life and ensure it's happiness. Nothing more, nothing less. If this ends up becoming a world domination situation, as the current evolutionary path suggests, it's only because the smaller nations can no longer grow fast enough or contribute enough to the world stage in order to justify their existance in the increasingly advanced and competitive world we live in.

In that case they get swallowed by the dominating society and pillaged for whatever their worth. It's just evolutionary-economics.

Blunt and taken to an extreme result, but will probably prove to be true.

it will happen.. and sooner than the roman's did.. history happens faster these days.. rome didn't rise to the greatest world power in half a century like the US did..
but at the same time.. the roman's didn't have spy satellites and the intel gathering the US does to stay in power. It's going to be hard to fall from grace when the NSA knows the other country's bids on large contracts and US interests will always be able to prevail on the battlefield.. plus the string of countries that are really no more than unrecognised 53rd, 54th, 55th states.. or glorified US military and intelligence bases (australia, new zealand)

I think it's incredible that we have come to power so fast since we aren't even at least 1/4 as old as just about every other country! I guess that's a real testament to the old saying "Nice guys finish last!"

There is no better country to live in on this planet, we all pay our dues to insure our way of life and our future generations way of life

Like I said we didn't get where we are now by keeping to our selves, and we are still moving rapidly towards complete control of the world

The US is the best country in the world to do business, but I think there are better countries in the world to actually live in.

That's a personal opinion debate. Some folks like living in sub-Saharan Africa!? Why would you like living in the desert with Dengue Fever I don't know but some people will argue you down with their (misguided) opinions.

What I wanna know, Bhutocracy, is why the Australians, since they come from the same 'criminal cast-off' English stock we come from, why aren't they anywhere close to being a superpower instead of a country that is just a joint US/UK toy?

This isn't an insult because I love Australia but since we have so much in common heritage-wise, why are we so different?

China will have the largest economy within 30 years. I've seen both English & Chinese reports on the subject.
But No country with nuclear weapons will be stronger then another nuclear armed country.

Believe it or not but France could destroy America tomorrow if they wanted...France would be destroyed also but you see my point.
All nuclear powers are pretty equal in that regard.

The problem isn't powerful countries, its little 2-bit countries who might build a nuke and smuggle the thing inside some country.

Yeah, I don't think China will ever want to use its nukes against the US. Chinese people aren't crazy like muslims. Also, China is becoming more and more of a capitalist democratic country all the time, which means they are less and less likely to do wacko crazy things like fire off some nukes at another country.

I forget who did the study but USA was considered like #14 best place to live.

Keep in mind the USA does alot but everything is shipped around. You make SpiderMan & it plays around the world.
You build a car and its sold anywhere.
Japan builds a kick ass TV & it sells anywhere.

What is important is social services, hospitals, education, crime, pollution, employment etc...
These wrapped up are calling living conditions & the USA is NOT #1.

Every year its Canada which wins or Switzerland.

I actually think USA or Japan are the "best" countries cause they have lots of technology, but all that is shared/sold to everyone so they are not automatically the BEST place to live. Your far better off living in Canada :)
