It was a nice day so lunch at the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island was in order.

And I forgot to mention the fudge...The island is famous for it.
I only purchased a half pound of it,because I am weak when it comes to homemade fudge.

BIGTYMER 08-03-2006 07:34 PM

LittleSassy 08-03-2006 07:40 PM

Beejeebers 08-03-2006 08:04 PM

I love how the "airport" is right beside the golf course and you can try to launch your tee shot at the planes.

I cannot believe the people who have cottages on the island, it's literally a dirt path to their house, very strange. It is a nice place to visit, but I'd never want to live there.

Vitasoy 08-03-2006 08:05 PM

Sweet, nice looking pics

I was surprised about how many nice homes are on that island.Even out in the woods there are some fabulous places. And I was told they are all built by hand. The builders all come across the car ferry daily with their equipment and take the horse driven wagons out to the building sites.

Mutt 08-04-2006 05:11 AM

that looks like a beautiful place - i've heard of Mackinaw Island before but don't know anything about it - where is it?

Mutt 08-04-2006 05:19 AM

googling - it's not Mackinaw Island - it's Mackinac Island - looks like a great family or couples vacation spot. what do homes/cottages sell for on the island? do people live there during the winter too?

I didn't ask anyone about prices, but I did see a sign for a Mackinac Real Estate Co.There are some full time residents on the island. You'd need to be real enthusiastic about brutal winter weather to live up there full time though.

Juss Urfin 08-04-2006 05:35 AM

Sorry I missed this post Dre.
But i'd be bullshittin' if I said the Lambo did 210..On any day it will do 195..on a really good day, maybe 200 if the speedo can be believed.

The plane sits way too much, and it was a really nice day to go flying.

I hear it is only 9F to 26F in the winter about -3C doesn't sound like very brutal cold, here in winnipeg it can get to -40C/-40F at least twice a winter, now thats brutal.
