So Landis wins tour, and used drugs....

Today they announced he was using drugs....Bad bad bad...

And that for a guy who comes from farmersville....(or maybe because he comes from farmersville?)

he-fox 07-27-2006 07:47 AM

It was kinda weird how one day he was left 10 mins. behind on the mountain, the next day 6-10 mins. ahead of everybody else.

dynastoned 07-27-2006 07:49 AM

LiveDose 07-27-2006 08:25 AM

They are waiting for one more test but I agree it goes beyond stupidity.

EviLSuperstaR 07-27-2006 08:36 AM

At least Lance Armstrong made sure he didn't get caught. Well, not until several years later when EPO testing technology has improved.

Troels 07-27-2006 08:41 AM

What a complete ass. Talk about being desperate.
This guy will face some tough times ahead.
Pathetic.

xclusive 07-27-2006 08:43 AM

According to news, the high amount of testosterone is the one responsible for such :upsidedow

Mr. Romance 07-27-2006 08:51 AM

Troels 07-27-2006 08:58 AM

If the B-test is positive it should be a ban for life. Screw 1-2 year bans.
He is so old now anyway it probably in effect is the same, but it should be made clear that if you get caught you're gone forever.

He's forever in shame.

Kimo 07-27-2006 09:08 AM

There's no drug in the World that can account for that kind of performance increase literally over night. :2 cents:

Of what I know at least the winner of every etappe gets checked always.

The inner urge for victory for many people doesn't have any limits. After his day off there was only 1 thing left....

I'm pretty sure this whole thing will get Lance Armstrong in the spotlight again. In my opinion Armstrong did use doping as well but never got caught because of old test methods :2 cents:

VicD 07-27-2006 02:41 PM

he certainly is not as clever as Lance

justsexxx 07-27-2006 02:44 PM

after listening to the video story on espn it doesn't seem like a "drug" issue. They are saying that his testosterone in at a normal level but the ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone is not perfect. What I found most interesting was the comment that every time the issue of testosterone/epi ratio has been appealed to the CIS, they have ruled in favor of the athlete. That says a lot.

I am fairly sure that almost everyone competing fairly successfully in the Tour uses one form of doping or another. The only real thing that matters is avoiding getting caught...

Just normal, and I was almost expecting it to happen.. they can't handle that American's keep spanking their asses so they gotta claim it was drugs.. They did the same with Lance yet he turned out to be legit.

I'm sure this guy will be legit as well.. If he isn't then he has to be the dumbest fool on the planet not to think he wouldn't be tested. The thing is the drug accusations will be all over every news outlet claiming he cheated.. Yet If he is proven legit just like Lance you will hardly see any mention of it.

Ehm, it has nothing to do with him being American. The doping scandal before the tour took out some of the strongest European cyclists.

They all think they can get away it, and most probably do. They have special substances intended to mask the use of doping, they use small amounts of doping to stay right beneath suspect blood levels, etc.

Yea I know it was going on for awhile.. but it just seems too convenient to accuse him of doping after he won. Seems like the same story all over from last year.

Listen, I've banged testosterone straight in to muscles, in far large doses than any patch could ever deliver, and I promise you that you don't go from being 10 minutes behind the pack to 10 minutes ahead because you took testosterone one night.

gecko 07-27-2006 07:17 PM

so true, testosterone does not work that fast. You need about 2 weeks for that to kick in.

Vitasoy 07-27-2006 07:39 PM

I bet hes kicking himself that he didn't ask lance for some pointers ;)
