You end up with a console with half the triangle setup rate of the 360, a crippled CPU that is a bitch to program, and tools that are atrocious compared to the 360. To make matters worse, you have an arrogant set of execs telling us that twice the price is worth it for half the power, a year late.

Manowar 06-09-2006 02:36 AM

I don't really care about the power and all the tech stuff tbh

as long as the games are fun

mOrrI 06-09-2006 02:39 AM

I Want one :D

Scott McD 06-09-2006 02:40 AM

The UK release price though is £ 410.

It better be fucking good...

Scott McD 06-09-2006 02:41 AM

Motor Storm on it does look amazing though.

I saw in-game footage of it from a DVD i got with a mag...

andrej_NDC 06-09-2006 03:18 AM

even if it sucks, it will be 500% better than any microsoft system

J. Falcon 06-09-2006 03:39 AM

It has no excuse NOT to be better than the 360.

hezochiah 06-09-2006 03:40 AM

I've always been a Playstation guy, so I'm patiently waiting, but I wonder how many sales they lost to people who just got the 360 instead of waiting.

nancycash(dot)com 06-09-2006 03:48 AM

I'm not Playstation fan.
But I'm going to get one.

Many Nintendo games are still way more fun than many of the xbox 360 games.

this isn't real?

Zarathustra 06-09-2006 04:36 AM

I must admit i have 360 and the computer still blows these next gen systems out of the water. Maybe its a programming thing but games that were multiplatform such as Oblivion and Quake 4 were way more impressive on the PC than the 360. I believe ps3 will be the same, these consoles just cant complete with the pc

PS3 games use Blu-ray. Computer games as of now only use standard DVD at best. Now DVD even dual-layer is what 9 GB, Blu-ray dual layer is 50 GB. Hmmmmm.

dunefield 06-09-2006 04:44 AM

$600 for a console? WHAT A RIP!!!

Games won't be cheap either...

Depends what CPU your on, i've got a 3.4 ghz 2 gig ram laptop and it can't do battlefield 2 at half the resolution my $400 Xbox 360 can at sweet 1080 high rez high def. Quake4 & Oblivian are not great examples of the best xbox360 can do, some of which are PC ports just like call of duty was.

When you see games specially made for xbox 360 like Ghost recon and Fight night round 3 with the beautiful shimmering graphics and all x2 anti-aliasing and the fantastic graphics of Project gothem the xbox 360 blows most PC's out of the water. You need a $3500+ PC to compare graphics to a $400 xbox 360.

The xbox 360 has rummble still in its awesome controller and the ps3 won't have rumble and most games for the ps3 will be out on the xbox 360 as well. I think Microsoft is going to get a good leg up on the ps3 after launching 1+ years early with a pretty awesome system.

I hope they are wrong about the ps3 above, I personally hope its moer powerful than the xbox 360 so the two can fight it out for dominance and we can all win with cheaper pricing

That still is from the prerendered target video. The real in-game footage looks nothing like this. The thing's not going to be much more powerful than an Xbox 360, if at all.

That because the people that invented rumble sued Sony and Sony lost. Microsoft just paid them off. I couldn't give 2 shits about rumble. It's more annoying than anyhthing.

Dreamcast had 15 months on PS2 and over 2 years on XBOX how did that work out for Sega?

It is if you look at the specs. Of course potential means nothing if it's not used. Blu-ray disks can hold 50 gigs of data, but will games use anywhere near that? Not the first couple of years for sure.

XBOX 360 and PS3 are meant to be MORE than just a game console. Hell a blue-ray DVD player is over $1000 and for $600 you get one of those AND a next gen game console.

I remember paying $200 for a ColecoVison in 1982. And if you adjust for inflation Intellivison cost $800 in todays dollars when it first came out.

Also if you make a XBOX 360 that is the same as a PS3 it would cost you over $600. The Wi-fi is $100 extra the HD-DVD player is extra( not sure of the price, I'm sure it wil be at least $200 ) they XBOX 360 that comes with the HDD is $400. And that's only a 20 GB HDD. The premium PS3 comes with a 60 GB HDD.

And if you want to make your game saves portable you don't have to buy expensive memory cards like the XBOX 360. $40 for a 64 MB memory card? For $20 you can get a 256 MB USB flash drive and save your PS3 games on that.

Comparing Dreamcast to Xbox 360 (with the might of Microsoft behind it is not quite far), Microsoft has endless cash to throw at this to make it work.

Playing the Xbox 360 on a 45inch Highdef LCD tv is freaking amazing, graphics are all 2x anti-alising and the games out thus far are super polished and fantastic to play. Whatever ps3 comes out with Xbox 360 has the power, the graphics and the games to compete toe to toe easy.

I look forward to seeing the PS3 and I hope they make the most of any advantages they have over the Xbox360. 2 good competing consoles is what we need, if one dominated the market we would all loose in the end.

I'm just saying having a "head start" does not mean you win the race. Only ealry adopters are going to buy a PS3 early just like they did with the XBOX 360. Most will wait for prices to drop. Sony always expect game systems to have a shelf life of 10 years. So In 3 years when PS3 is $250 and hundreds of games can be had for under $30, no one will bitch about price.

Can their price drop that much man? It has PS2 hardware inside of it to ensure it's backward compatability, it has blu-ray... a host of other expensive crack that prevents it from getting much cheaper. I mean I may be able to see it drop a $100.00 but down to $250?

They are working on emulation but couldn't get it worked out in time, They are going to drop the ps2 chips after a year or so whenever they can get the emulation worked out so that will allow them to drop it a little .

It's going to be a lot different this time around though, Nintendo and M$ are getting a lot of former exclusives of sony released at the same time.

Everything drops. Once units get sold prices will drop A LOT. What did DVD players cost when they first came out? What about VCRs? 20 years ago a VCR would get you back $200-$300 now you can get a VCR that's better than those for $40. Back in the 50's a TV that wasn't even 27 inches and was black and white set you back $700. That's in 1950's money. Today that would be $5000 or more. I rememebr when Direct TV first came out. The dishes were $750. Now they're under $100.
