the NEW SEX.COM being launched 6/1

Here is the link to the new sex.com being launched 6/1. Obviously this is just a map of the finished product.

http://www.vodhub.com/scom/desingtwo/index.html

On the right hand side there is 7 banner spots being sold on front page. The large banner spot (4) is commited to as well as a few others. Banner spots being sold are sized 265 x 100 and price is $10,000 for 6/1 to 7/1.

No other spots will be added on the front page.

Sex.com is starting on a huge campaign to buy US traffic and traffic numbers should be increasing substantially.

I am still waiting on the go ahead to sell internal spots so as far as right now all I have in front page available.

Howard

RayBonga 05-24-2006 07:32 AM

Guys

I am heading up the new Sex.Com 2.0 launch. What you see on the above is one example of the layout, we got about 8 designers working on a new design and we will pick the best one.

What will stay the same is the ad spot on the right hand side; it will be 7 spots as Howard said.

Thanks

THANKS JAY---just trying to show the layout of the banners

crockett 05-24-2006 07:53 AM

You should just launch it on 6/6/6 so that way the religious morons could say we really are evil.

Actually, that design/layout should be tossed out with the weekly trash unless the entire front page is to be nothing but a banner farm.

There is no focus - no path for the surfer to follow.

It looks like you don't know where you want to send the surfer once they hit your front page - never mind having any idea of how to lead them there so the design solution is to just toss up a bunch of "stuff" and hope you put up something they'll click on - and just to be safe, put in all those banner spots to try and make a few bucks because the site isn't set up to convert in the first place.

Are you a search engine, a banner farm or content website?

No offense (tho I probably already have) - but that design doesn't accomplish any of those objectives effectively.

You guys are trying to tighten bolts with a hammer - you've got a great tool, but you're not using it right.

madawgz 05-24-2006 09:25 AM

wasnt very impressed... :\

:error:

those banners are internal links. if webmasters would get their heads out of their asses for two seconds...they would see that trying something different is the key to success.

shuki 05-24-2006 09:32 AM

Looking nice Howard and Jay.

Can't wait to see the release on the 1st

8 designers.....wow....and this is what they came up with?

ztik 05-24-2006 09:33 AM

sex.com domain - $14,000,000?
sex.com design - $25?????

That design really sucks, my little brother could do better. Reminds me of the men.com crap.

They could also correct the menu button " transexiual " unless it is a new niche :winkwink:

Doctor Dre 05-24-2006 09:39 AM

It's different. There is definitly no focus in the page... you don't know what's what...

But it definitly looks different, wich is a big plus.

What is really wrong about this design is the use of fonts and various lightning. and photoshop effects. None of the designers that worked on this went to graphic design school, where they teach you 101s of using fonts.

The buttons on the left are hard to read, the font at the bottom is unreadable, the search button is hard to read, the outer glow arround the logo sucks balls and just gets your attention off the damn thing.

Send me the PSD and I'l make it look much better in about 3 mins.

pstation 05-24-2006 09:41 AM

I'm a surfer and i love the new design. remember it's not a matter of what looks good to you, but what appeals to your surfers.

Gottis 05-24-2006 09:43 AM

Could be the worst design so far in 2006, did AlienQ do it?

xxxice 05-24-2006 09:43 AM

Not enough ads :2 cents:

Why dont you submit a design, all I need is a JPEG of the Front page. I will put that on GFY and if people say that is better then the 7 - 8 we are going to have I give you 1000 bucks

That's not necessarily true. Putting up a paysite and allowing surfers to pay on the honor system would be a "new" way of doing a paysite and certainly no one else does it like that so you'd have a corner on the market. If your goal was to acquire a sheer number of members then yes, it would be successful but you'll go bankrupt in the process.

True success isn't short lived....

devilspost 05-24-2006 09:57 AM

I still say set up a million dollar home page. Sell pixels for 14 bucks each :)
