My Europe vacation was FUCKED by Continental Airline BITCH
I had tickets for a 10 day vacation to Europe, May 19-29 -- and I made it as far as Houston. While boarding the plane to Amsterdam, the gate BITCH decided that my passport was invalid so I was not allowed to board the plane.
Vacation over. She said a "new rule" this year makes any damaged passport invalid. My passport went thru the washing machine two years ago. The back cover seperated from the back page. Now, I've left the country probably 15 times with it, including 5 times so far this year, with no problems. And I showed my passport to the ticket agent in Phoenix, who didn't say anything about it and happily sent me on my way to Houston. So now, I'm back in Phoenix. hahahahainental went ahead and sent my luggage to Amsterdam for a nice vacation. They also refuse to credit me with the "used" portion of my ticket (from phoenix to houston and back). So now if I want to still go I have to rebook the tickets and get a brand new passport! But shouldn't the people in PHX have stopped me first? I got so pissed off at the airport in Houston they threatened to have me arrested. FUCK CONTINENTAL AIRLINES!!!!   |
thats fucked up. Was there anyone else there you could have spoken to
|
Fly Delta. Not problems with them.
|
Holy crap that sucks.
|
that sucks.. I used to have a passport like that but I never had problems *leaving* a country with it. Sometimes I'd get suspicious looks entering countries and told to get a new passport :).
edit: odd that an airline representative can do shit like that, surely it's up to the border agents. |
That just sucks Steve.
Makes my dramas of coming home last week seem silly in comparison. :-( |
Customs and immigration people always seem to be on a power trip.
|
Are we gonna see you on an upcoming edition of the TLC show, I think it's called "Airport" or something like that?
|
2hpIt's ridiculous they just the change rules at will and expect you to know. |

That's fucked up on so many levels. It reminds me of when I was flying to Asia and I had a short stopover in Japan.
When I was checking in at Japan the girl behind the desk asked in broken English 'Visa', 'Visa'. I thought she wanted to charge me for something when I realized she was pointing at my passport. I explained to her that I was not staying in Japan. She wanted to check in my passport to see if I had a visa to travel to the NEXT country. Seems that since my ticket was one way she believed I needed a Visa to head to the next destination, when I had no problems leaving the U.S and this was only a layover to switch planes.(the country I was going to was 30 day Visa on arrival anyways). Somehow this little whore felt she was responsible for people entering into different countries and said I couldn't continue my journey without a Visa. I was lucky that I had one anyways, even though it wasn't required (I had made the same trip numerous times before). I asked this bitch what would have happened if I didn't have the Visa, and she just starred blankly at me and kept repeating 'cannot go' 'cannot go.' I felt lucky that I had the Visa, and was pissed that someone could arbitrarily fuck up a long planned trip on a whim and without knowing the facts. I have been through there since without issue and have not been asked for a Visa since. |
That's fuckin ridiculous ;-)
|
fuck airlines in general
|
OMG Steve that is soooooo bad. Sorry I knew you were excited to go. Continental screw me once internationally too. The customer service dept. I had to deal with had no idea what they were doing. That sucks they didn't even hook you up for your loss:( :( :(
|
That fucking sucks..it's like a powertrip for some people being able to reject you from entering..
|
rent your own plane baller with all the lighspeed girls
end of problem :) |

They gave me $20 worth of "snack coupons" --- which i used to buy 5 drinks, so I could get drunk enough not to want to tear the airport apart. |
sucks balls man.
|

I probably would have gotten arrested if that had happened to me. |

Not 100% positive on this but pretty sure.
When you fly to America, from Europe, before you get on the plane to America they check everythiong to make sure you don't get turned around by Immigration. Thus saving you a wasted flight and freeing up a seat. This might of been the case here. Flying from Pheonix they should of been tighter, but the way the US airlines work that needs more and better trained people, which leads to higher priced tickets. However two years with a washed out passport is not a wise move. |

Fuck, Steve thats FUCKED. You are a stronger man than I for not having to be detained. If you were an Arab or looked like an Arab I could almost understand. But you like a USA born white guy! You don't even dress like a wigger! I'd have called that woman every name in the book and prolly been cuffed. Don't fuck with a man's vacation. :disgust

|
That is jacked up.
Check out this article on how to file a complaint. http://www.usatoday.com/travel/colum...woodyard_x.htm |
Damn Steve that sucks, I was looking forward to having drinks with you here in Ams.
BTW: I don't know what they thought when they said "aren't you glad WE stopped you before you got to AMSTERDAM" but we would prolly have let you in. Airline (and in the same breath customs, immigration) personnel are sad people. |
i only fly continental because they got a cheap business/first
never had problem sorry to hear about the problems i thought only entering the US is problematic lol |
That's awful.
Aumming a 2-3 day cancellation required by the various hotels. plus having to find another time where you can get away for that much time. it could end up costing you quite a bit. Passports are an interesting thing. They are considered the be all and end all of identification - however they last for 10 years. A person's appearance gradually can change soo much over a 10 year period let alone radical/ elective things such as tanning, hair dying, glasses and weight variation. Maybe 30 years ago - having a passport be valid for 10 years made sense - but with as much as some people travel and if you used it as your primary indentifcation for any period of time - it seems a little insane to think that they should last that long. AND why not mention that when booking airfare - a reminder that some countries won't let you travel to them if your passport is going to expire with in 6 months. That they might deny you if you don't look llike your current picture. Or they might deny you if the passport is badly damaged. |
Any particular reason for going to Amsterdam Steve? Picking someone up perhaps?
|
damn, hard times.. sorry to hear steve. Are you going to have another shot at a vacation soon once you get a new passport?
|
Keep things in perspective. Things could be worse.
