Where is the legal information for the movies in this archive?

They are stolen = no legal info = illegal unlicensed content.

I just contacted Deluxe Pass about this.

Stolen content is BAD. Who here hates having their content stolen? I do.

It isn't right that I should have to pay at least $500 a month for new and fresh content ---- and I'm sure some people here pay thousands ---- whilst other people can get away with stealing it and profiting from theft.

So I contacted A-Pic about this.

How do you know its stolen?

Why start a thread like this unless you know for a fact that it's stolen?

It's a fact that they're stolen, because that content -- private parts blurred, some subtitled -- isn't available for licensing. You think its possible to license it and that the content in question is licensed?? I'm sure A-Pic will enjoy seeing that proof........

The only place to get it is to rip it illegally from VCDs or DVDs. Again there is no place to license it :feels-hot

If it truly is stolen, you will probably need to go to the people who own the copyright. I believe, though I could be wrong, that A-Pic only handles cases where one of their clients or members owns the copyright that is being ripped off.

If the copyright owners are outside the country, with no U.S. presence or licensing deal, things may not be so clear cut. For many years gore and horror movie places in the U.S. have sold copies of foreign movies claiming that if the creator doesn't have U.S. distribution, they can sell copies here without permission.

It might be bullshit, but it's been going on as long as I can remember. Here is the relevant text from a horror movie site that has been around for a long time:

The section of American copyright law known as "The Berne Act" clearly states: films unreleased in the United States, including original version of films altered and/or edited for release in the United States, are not protected by American copyright; thus, they are considered public domain. The entire purpose of our company is to provide (otherwise unavailable) films to the serious video collector. We do not offer videos owned by American releasing companies. If a film should become available domestically we immediately stop offering it to our clients.

I have no idea where his content is from, but from taking a look at the site I'm unsure how you claim without a doubt the content is stolen.

Did you email the site's owner and ask him if it's stolen or where he purchased it from? I mean as far as I know this still is the US and your innocent until proven guilty.

I actually do buy content from Japanese providers like LoveAsianChicks says.

The private parts are blurred because it is ILLEGAL to show people's sex organs in Japan. I'm also in the process of subbing many of the movies myself.

The text of the treaty of the Berne Convention is available at http://www.law.cornell.edu/treaties/berne/. It doesn't take long to read through, the articles are quite short and straightforward. I fail to see anything like it within. Anyone else?

Besides which, the concept of "not protected by a country's copyright" = "public domain within that country" is exactly the reason the Berne Convention was formed in the first place!
