Sources say Steve Nash edged out Kobe and Lebron for MVP.

1) Nash
2) Lebron
3) Bryant

You think the racism argument will arise again?

Nash is a true point guard, very deserving if the story turns out to be true.

BannerDept 04-26-2006 09:16 AM

racism lol. some people need better things to do with their time.

btw...who/where's this source?

TDF 04-26-2006 09:18 AM

racist!!!!!

axelcat 04-26-2006 09:18 AM

I think Kobe got robbed, I am sick of the NBA the guy scores 81 points in a game wow. Not to mention the fact that nash has better teamates around him. Thats bullcrap.

The Truth Hurts 04-26-2006 09:22 AM

racism?

isn't Nash the first white guy to win it since Larry Bird 20 years ago?

ronaldo 04-26-2006 09:23 AM

I don't think that's racist at all. Most awards of that nature are subjective.

I think the fact that a black player hasn't won any notable individual awards in the NHL is more racist. /sarcasm

You must not follow very close...Kobe doesn't make anyone on his team better. Unless you want to count the scoring they do etc...is out of fear Kobe will never pass them the ball that game.

The only two players the MVP vote should come down to are Nash and James.

Nash edged out Shaq last year and some in the media called it racism. Shaq didn't help by making pompous comments (not racist, just egomaniacle).

Nash represents what the league likes right now.

He is a great player, but he isn't a champion like Kobe. And he never will be. If he wants a title, he needs to play along side Kobe or Lebron. IMO.

and someone that thinks race plays a roll in everything would have said the same thing back then too.

and the only reason Kobe has 3 rings...SHAQ. Until he becomes a team player, and gets someone to play with...he'll never win another.

Cory W 04-26-2006 09:27 AM

Arizona paper reported it this morning, claiming anon sources.

You guys that come down on Kobe, you should watch him play a bit closer. He may not be well liked, however saying he isn't as good as Lebron or Nash is crazy. Even Lebron admitted that. Look at Lebron's mistakes yesterday. Kobe is a well polished prime time, post season player.

The Truth Hurts 04-26-2006 09:27 AM

quick look...
looks like its 41 to 9... Black MVP's to White MVP's from 55/56 to 04/05

Shaq needed Kobe.

Every great player needs someone, Jordan wasn't empty handed.

yeah i think he deserves it too

The racist remarks are ridiculous. Nash deserves it. In addition, Kobe and Lebron are seeded to low for the traditional MVP balloting.

Uh, admittedly, being a short white man I don't watch much basketball, but wasn't Kobe a champion ONLY when HE played beside Shaq?

Kobe is the only reason why the team made it to the playoffs, nash had lots of help, to me kobe is the MVP.You take nash out you still have an ok suns team, but with kobe out the lakers would have the number 1 draft pick.:2 cents:

You need to know what you're talking about and follow all 3 players, I follow them all. There's not a "more dominant individual/team player" in the NBA than LeBron James. There's no other player that does as much on the court as LeBron...he had a season that can only be compared with 4 others in NBA history...and oh yeah, he's 21. He would have been my pick, then Nash...and it would be a toss up between Kobe/Nowitzki/Brand/Marion.

All Kobe is is a great scorer. To be the MVP you need to be a complete player...he has a long way to go.

Your right Jordan had pippen, rodman, kukoc, harper and the list goes on.

Neither have a title without each other.

Bryant was a dominant, large guard that hit clutch shots. You had to devote attention to him or he shredded you, particularly in the 4th quarter.

Go look at Kobe's numbers in the 4th quarter of that dynasty. Then, look at Shaq's 4th quarter free throw misses.

Bryant also swung to power forward and reaked havoc on the opposition. He can score at will.

The media is finally letting go of the ball hog label, the fans will catch on eventually. Those living in LA really don't label him that anymore.

My pick wasn't Nash, so why are you debating between the two with me?

and about your comment about Kobe....James is the only reason Cleveland's in the playoffs and won 50 games...and if he would have taken as many shots as Kobe per game, his points per game would have been the same. What's your next arguement.

Kobe will never win an MVP, James will have a collection. He was also build one of the greatest dynastys in NBA history no matter where he plays. LeBron just turned 21 and has already put in 2 season better than any Kobe's put up.

Nash allthe way. :) I am a huge Lebron fan but you jsut can't take Nash out of the running.

What was Kobe in game one? a solid 7 for 21...1 for 6 in 3's. You're right that's clutch. Watch LeBron's next game, he'll bounce back big time and you know Washington's thinking the same thing.

And having Butler make stupid gestures after the game is going to get him fired up even more. You can mark James down for 35-40 next game.

lazycash 04-26-2006 09:48 AM

I'm a huge Suns and Steve Nash fan, but I don't think he should be MVP. It always come back to how you interpret what the MVP means. Just judging on pure talent and skill, Kobe and Lebron definitely should win. I believe the MVP title originally was meant to award the "best" player for that particular year, but after being scrutinized year after year it has come to mean more, "which player made his team better while displaying a high level of skill".

Sure the Suns had a great year even without Amare and that's why Nash has been mentioned for MVP all year. However, anyone who followed the Suns all year would know that Marion was just as vital to their success as Nash. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/chea...2main0413.html

I'm not a big Kobe fan, but what he did this year was incredible and its hard for me to believe the Lakers would have won very many games without him. I think if Cleveland would have finished stronger, Lebron would have been the front runner. Oh well, you could make a case for all of them, just comes down to how you interpret the MVP award.

Do you know how many post-season games Bryant has?

Lets talk after tonight :)

Oh wait, you will have an excuse that he either: Shot too much even though he had a high percentage; shot too little to "prove a point;" or the game was rigged, the refs did him favors.

At some point, you just have to admit things...
