if i would open a "non smoking" bar/club/restaurant in your town

would you go there ?

i hate it when i prepare for going out: taking a shower, putting deodorant and parfume on and when i enter a club/bar etc. i will stink like an ashtray after 5minutes.

i don't have anything against smokers as long as they don't get me in touch with their smoke

Smoking indoors has been banned here for several years now.

Many states already ban smoking in bars, clubs & restaurants. I agree with restaurants & clubs but it sucks for bars, its fun to have a beer and a cigar while shooting pool.

juve20 04-09-2006 02:54 AM

they've already banned smoking in clubs, pubs etc.. in scotland!

cranki 04-09-2006 02:54 AM

yep, I hate that shit as well...

they could not do it in germany...
because the state would collapse if less people smoke...

the only thing keeping germany alive is the taxes from cars and drugs this time...

nekrom 04-09-2006 02:58 AM

Yup down here smoking is banned in all pubs/clubs/restaurants which serve food. It's also banned in all gamming rooms. And new legislation coming in over this/next year will ban it in all nightclubs.

Nothing against smokers, just your 2nd smoke effects my non-smoking health in those environments. :)

Edited to add the only place it's sorta accepted is in pubs, kinda an aussie thing I guess. :)

nah, i dont smoke but there is a better attitude there

Matt 26z 04-09-2006 03:13 AM

You want to kill yourself, do it in the privacy of your home. Smoking should be illegal everywhere else, including outside in public. I don't EVER want to breathe it.

dissipate 04-09-2006 03:15 AM

I live i california - all public places are non smoking.

i totally agree with that:)

TheDoc 04-09-2006 03:58 AM

If you are worried about 2nd hand smoke killing you then you need to quit breathing air, damn sure don't drive in traffic anymore.

I agree with the smell while eating, even at a club where people are dancing. But a bar with good venting can have a room full of smokers and it won't fill the bar with smoke.

What is worse? That I smoked my stinky cigar at the bar, or that you got in your car and drove home?

ServerGenius 04-09-2006 04:00 AM

I would never go to a non-smoking place. People that go to non-smoking
places only are frustrated annoying whining numbnut idiots. I'm all in favour
for non-smoking places so they stay away from places where they do allow
people to smoke.

:2 cents:

Bingo! People whine about smoking, but don't care about all the stuff that is like
factor 10 times worse than passive smoking......non smokers just can't stand
the fact that smokers are enjoying themselfes.....envious little whiney pricks

no

you could smoke if it wouldn't stink that much and if i wouldnt get in danger

candyflip 04-09-2006 04:42 AM

Every bar and restaurant where I live already is. You'd be joining a fairly large club.

of course there should. but our allegedly free-enterprise system won't allow it, it doesn't fit the politically-correct agenda.

and BTW, all of the "second hand smoke" people should do their research, a number of reputable studies (including one by the World Health Organization) have concluded that the second hand smoke "health danger" is a red herring. but the establishment has gotten together to cover up those studies and prevent the wide-spread release of the findings, again for political reasons.

there's no doubt many people don't *like* second hand smoke, and that a *few" are allergic to it. that's why there should be smoking and non-smoking establishments allowed. everyone (INCLUDING smokers) should have the freedom to be in places where they're comfortable and can enjoy themselves.

smoking is bad for you and not a smart thing to do.
but sorry to burst your bubble, second hand smoke isn't killing you by proxy.

Quotealex 04-09-2006 05:11 AM

Here, they will ban smoking the month in all clubs, I can't wait.

In sweden it isnt allowed to smoke inside anymore, unless its your own home.
You arent allowed to smoke on barīs, clubs, restaurants.... anymore!

Some say its good, others say it sucks. I kinda like it, even though i smoke from time to time.

SexyPix 04-09-2006 05:14 AM

I love non-smoking places. I hate outlawing it though. Freedom is good.

Why, anything you say captain impartiality! Yes, because of your post I now know that when my eyes sting because theres that much second hand smoke in the air while I'm watch a band at the pub that really it's like breathing antibiotics and antioxidants! yay.. thanks now i'll never worry again because it's not burning my eyes and magically leaving my lungs pinky clean - It's actually the sting of the smoke healing my cataracts!
I'll forward your post to the non smoker bar workers with lungcancer to tell them their illness is a red herring and they aren't dying by proxy.. :thumbsup

The main problem is liability for establishments that allow smoking. There have already been cases of non-smoking waitresses getting lung cancer. Just imagine the law suits. It is a legal time bomb waiting to go off.

Wordsforhire 04-09-2006 07:12 AM

Scotland has just had a new bill passed which means no smoking in all enclosed public places, that inclues, pubs, clubs, shops, cafes, resturants..everything enclosed. You can go outside and smoke thats fine.

Personally I dont mind either way, as long as the smoke is kepy out of my way, its up to a smoke if they want to puff on a cancer stick.

As for inhaling second hand smoke, yeah there is down sides but look at it this way..Your more likely to die crossing the road. There is no hard shit evidence that second hand smoking causes lung cancer, it may help towards it but that alone cant give you it.

Its pollutants, car fumes and household waste items that are killing us, not sencond hand smoke from the poor lonely old guy sitting behind us in the pub. If my grandad were to stop smoking it would kill him, his doc told him not to even try...

I dont like smoking, although I did smoke I just find all this smoking will kill everyone nonsense a bit over the top..Its like saying omg a bird flew over me I have bird flu...

wyldblyss 04-09-2006 07:13 AM

I would go, I quit smoking on New Years Eve hehe

smack 04-09-2006 07:20 AM

if you opened a non smoking bar/restaraunt in my town?

i would stab you in the fucking eye with my cig.

i am tired of being treated like a second class fucking citizen because of my choice. honestly, if a place does not provide somewhere for me to smoke, i do not go there. it's dick, elitest, and i am pretty sure it is illegal in one way or another.

maybe you and that fat cry baby faggot rob reiner should get together and weep about second hand smoke and fondle each others balls.

pawsregd 04-09-2006 07:22 AM

Can't wait for May 31 when they ban it here in Montreal...hopefully

you sir are an idiot

you are born as a nonsmoker.

and if i choose not to kill myself with lungcancer and i refuse to stink like an ashtray YOU GOTTA ACCEPT IT.

you are the one doing something to damage my lungs,

GatorB 04-09-2006 07:51 AM

When I first moved to my current location 13 years ago I went to a restaurant and I ask the hosted where the non-smoking section was. She look at me as if I was from mars, then said "Just sit somewhere where there isn't an ashtray. We really don't have non-smoking sections here." And she was right no place around here had sperated smoking/non-smoking areas. The local Pizza Hut is 100% non-smoking and I think that's about it. They say smokers make up about 25% of the popualtion. Where I live it's about 80%. No joke.

hova 04-09-2006 08:16 AM

no need to be so over the top. i have no problem with people who smoke but i can't stand to be in places filled with smoke, makes me feel sick after a bit.

czarina 04-09-2006 10:04 AM

At least in FL and CA it has been banned, but (and I'm not a smoker, and I hate to smell like cigarettes) I think they should have open option places, like bars and clubs for smokers. In a country that is always bragging about civil liberties, that should be one of them!

Nope. Why would a individual who smokes or has friends who smoke wish to pay for eating/drinking in premises where they are restricted from smoking?

The flip side is - no way would I puff smoke over others while they were eating and sure has hell don't want them covering me in smoke.

Both smoking and non-smoking areas are fine.
