Fuck the Police

No joke on this folks..... I was shooting in a park today and the damn neighbors called the cops. Cops showed up and shut my shoot down. They tried to tell me I was violating state laws and that I could be arrested and charged as a sex offender. I politely asked the officer to show me the statute he was referring to since I am very aware of the laws but had somehow overlooked that one. Kinda funny how he could not find it when put on the spot.

He ran my and the models ID then came back and told me to use more discretion in the future. This is the 4th time in a year I have been bothered by the police during a shoot and the 4th time they have not cited me for a damn thing. The first time I was stopped, the cop told me that it was quite legal but that because a lot of families frequent the beach I was shooting on that he would appreciate it if I wrapped it up quickly. Then he sat in his car and watched me finish the shoot.

WTF is their problem? It is not like I was shooting on a school playground........this time.

Amputate Your Head 05-03-2002 04:55 PM

so why say fuck the police??? They aren't the problem. The people that called them are the fucking problem. They are simply reacting to what was phoned in.

Don't get bent on the police.... go kill the fucker that reported you.

JJJ 05-03-2002 04:58 PM

Yeah, not the cops fault some prick called on you. Too bad people can't mind there own fucking business.

You bring on a good point but they cops could have let me finish the shoot and I see no reason for them to try to lie to me and basically call me a sex offender. If I had chosen to stay then they would have found something to charge me with.

MetaformX 05-03-2002 04:59 PM

police are thought of as assholes when we dont need them
police are our angels when we need them

I would say thats how 90% of society feels about the police, although Im not one of those 90%....

Pipecrew 05-03-2002 04:59 PM

is it even legal to shoot models in a park? isnt that were 10 year old kids play soccer and shit

Sexymail 05-03-2002 05:01 PM

Just so you know, my granny is the one that called the cops on you, and it wasnt for the nudity in public or shit like that, it was because you were stroking yourself while shooting:321GFY

vidsweb 05-03-2002 05:01 PM

Yeah, they had no right to call you a "sex offender" when clearly your just a dirty pervert. :1orglaugh :winkwink:

Your Granny lied to you. She was the one stroking me during the shoot.

Yes, it is legal to shoot in parks around here. It becomes illegal only if there is sexual gratification involved during the shoot. So since Sexymail's Granny was gratifying me, I guess I was breaking the law. I guess maybe the cops were cool afterall.
:thumbsup

if you were shooting in a public park, I can understand it.... there is always a chance of someone else being around... (public park)... and being exposed in public basically equates to a sex offense. Since it was your shoot and you are the person in charge (not the models), that makes you the offender. If someone wanted to push it, they could probly nail ya with something like public indecency or something.... but my guess is the cops were told to "diffuse the situation" and make the complaining person happy so they don't complain anymore.... and that means telling you whatever it takes to get you to leave the park.

Just a guess there..... but that's probly pretty close.

CDSmith 05-03-2002 05:06 PM

Yes, there are some nice decent level-headed cops out there, no question.

But we all know that there are a lot of cops that are on power trips that will come and use their position as a cop to push you around "just cuz". Some of them would rather hassle a law-abiding businessman than to tell the complainers to get over it. Some cops will hassle you just because they like to hassle people, they get off on it somehow. Very strange, yet very true.

I've done my share of outdoor public shoots, but most of mine have been bikni-lingerie only, and although i've gotten a few dirty looks from passersby from time to time, no one has officially complained to my knowledge....yet. I'm stepping things up this spring and summer and have many more outdoor shoots scheduled. I can't wait for the first cop to come fuck with me.

oh give me a fucking break...

the instances of cops on power trips are extremely fucking rare... 99% of those guys are just doing their fucking job like everyone else... they couldn't care less about your interpreting what they do as a powertrip or not.... they just want whatever they're responding to, to be over with as quickly and as efficiently as possible.... and if that means you get your feelings hurt cuz you got kicked out of a park, then so what. Nobody cares. I seriously doubt there was any "powertrip" going on at all.

Put yourself in their shoes..... some jackass calls up complaining about... get this.... NAKED WOMEN!!!..... who the hell complains about naked chicks???

the only thing on your mind is to get it resolved and be done with it... obviously anyone complaining about naked women is a person that cannot be reasoned with.... so you go and you shut down the shoot. Simple as that.

You are correct on their actions but the fact remains that in this state, there is nothing illegal with doing this.

LoveAsianChicks 05-03-2002 05:16 PM

Nudity in a public area is illegal
(at least in Canada)
If I walked down the road naked I would be arrested on the spot.
I don't understand how you could expect to take pics of a naked women in a park and feel your within the law.
Just boggles my mind you would assume police won't be bothering you.

However, I don't think calling you a sex offender is correct either.

I'll give you an example of something similar:
It is legal to stand on your front lawn and drink a beer. If you carry the open beer onto the road, it becomes illegal in many places.

I know this was directed to both of us. I am not saying that they were on a power trip. They were actually very nice BUT I do take offense to the suggestion that I was a sex offender. That is the only real thing that bothers me. Shutting down the shoot is a bit of a pain but I do not want to ruffle any feathers. If the neighbors has asked me to leave I would have just out of respect for the nosey fuckers.

FYI, it is a huge park and we were well hidden behind trees and bushes. Only reason we were spotted was some lady let her dog off the leash and the dog found us and therefore so did the lady. They should have nailed her for not having her dog on the leash....THAT is a city park regulation.

Move to Oregon. It is legal here, just frowned upon.

No.

Nudity is legal by Oregon State law, unless a local city or county law prohibits it. The cities and counties I shoot in have no ordinances in place to prohibit this. I have been approached by the police 4 times in the last year but in total I have been approached dozens of times. The only time I was actually breaking a law was when I was shooting at Portland Adventist Hospital. The security there stopped me for trespassing. They were laughing the entire time and the cops were never called.

That is why I want such a big house and private back yard. I have not checked on the public laws there yet.

boneprone 05-03-2002 05:39 PM

you should have gotten pics of the cop and the model

CDSmith 05-03-2002 05:41 PM

Actually in a few provinces it is NOT illegal to go topless in public, so making a sweeping statement that walking nude outdoors is illegal is incorrect.

At least in Ontario and Manitoba, the laws were changed a few years back, making it okay for women to be topless on beaches etc.

And wake up Amp. I'm not going to argue percentages with you because neither of us knows the real numbers, but Winnipeg has something like 1500 cops or so, and over the years I've come to know about 3 dozen of them for various reasons, from social contacts to less than social interactions. Of those, I it takes at least both hands to count the number of individuals whose attitude has changed for the worse after becoming a cop. Some of them are painfully arrogant and definitely on a power trip, don't kid yourself or anyone else. They exist. Some will simply bend or twist the letter of the law to suit their own agendas, .... like for example telling Aaron that he could be arrested as a sex offender. That is misuse and misinterpretation of an existing law if I've ever heard it. It sucks to have your integrity or professionalism questioned and insulted so brazenly, and I too would react as Aaron has.

He obviously took steps to keep his shoot out of the view of the public, by setting up in a somewhat remoted area of the park that was shaded from the general view, so I can see where one would feel a bit "crapped on". I don't think Aaron's reaction is so out of line. Cops may be just doing their jobs, but sometimes (I did say SOMETIMES) they could work on being a bit more tactful and graceous in certain situations. Insinuating that someone like Aaron is some sort of sex offender is certainly not using one's tact gland.

Great, I win.

Did you maybe miss the keywords "Some cops" and "sometimes" and "certain individuals"? Notice the absence of words and phrases in my posts such as "all cops" and "100% of cops" or "every single cop".... ?

You really must be tired. My point is that there exists a certain amount of cops on every force that exhibit the traits I mentioned, nothing more. You are right in what you are saying, but so am I. All it takes is ONE time for you to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and cross paths with such an asshole cop and you too will come to know what it means to have someone push you around and crap all over your civil rights juct because they can, or perhaps because by hassling you they can somehow further their career. What about the webmaster that reported a cp site to his local cops in a town in the midwest, and those cops came to his house and arrested him because they figured he must have downloaded some of it too. They made a big stink in the media about how they nabbed a cp peddler and they made a big name for themselves, but the guy was only trying to do the right thing.

Don't tell me there are "very few" asshole cops. Cops are only human, and there are at the very least just as many assholes in their ranks as there are in any other group of humans.

Cops are all people that have some chip on their shoulder. They like to abuse their power. They have deep rooted mental problems. They are trying to compensate for something.

I try to report things because I think I can right some wrongs and they threaten to charge me and my family.

My friend brings in a gun to register because he is unsure if it is legal and they threaten to lock him up. Etc. etc., years of etceteras.

They are the enemy. My advice, in the words of Tom Fogerty:

Son, don't let the man get you
Do what he done to me.
'Cause he'll get you,
'Cause he'll get you now, now.

Don't try to prove otherwise because I know otherwise.

^R3K^ 05-03-2002 06:02 PM

We used to shoot in Charlotte N.C. at parks, lakes, and once at a fountain uptown.
Once in a while someone would call the cops on us, but the majority of the time we had grips (or whatever you want to call them) holding up shades around. We scheduled them when their weren?t going to be any kids around or when you would just have some old man in the background having a heart attack LOL.

We were shut down and kicked of a golf course that we had a membership to once, but we went to another one who encouraged it and some of the golfers scheduled their golfing around us haha... Most of the real cops were always cool, but the rent-a-cops were dicks.
