Put college on hold to maximize revenue?

What are your thoughts on this...

This is quite a volatile business and well the sooner and faster you establish something.....

College on the other hand isn't going anywhere...

Ummhhh :disgust

BoyAlley 03-23-2006 12:11 PM

I left college after my first year. BIG waste of time and WAY over rated unless you're planning on being something like a doctor.

Anyone that says you can't make money without college is too big of an idiot to make things happen for themselves.

luv$ 03-23-2006 12:11 PM

NO

I did it and it did not work out well for me.

Just grit your teeth and push through it.

Will be one of the best things you have ever done in your life.

After Shock Media 03-23-2006 12:12 PM

Depends on how important a formal education is to you and those around you.
I would never be the type to knock a college degree even though I did not go that route. I do know it can help you in life and at very least can provide a fall back in the event this does not work out for you.
My question is though, can you not do both?

Rui 03-23-2006 12:13 PM

I don't mean to quit...not at all but rather focus less (still going to classes,etc.. just putting less focus on it for awhile)

strobi 03-23-2006 12:14 PM

Just push trought. A few big revenue years means nothing. What are you going to do in 5,10 or 20 years? Get that diploma or you'll be serving burgers in McD.

Well that's good... I never went to class but got my masters. I don't regret it.

Exactly.

Egomancer 03-23-2006 12:25 PM

Focus less on college but still graduate. Sometimes I feel sorry that I did not start doing this while I was in college. But on the other hand those nice years will never come back...

polish_aristocrat 03-23-2006 12:33 PM

wtf? just few days you started a thread saying "money isnt everything"

wdsguy 03-23-2006 12:35 PM

having a degree is always important as something to fall back on.

xlogger 03-23-2006 12:40 PM

I actually went to college for one year and desided take a break to work on my online things. I didnt learn shit in college and was failing like every other class too. I took a break this year and made, well a lot of $, lol. I still dont know if i should even bother to go back now...

I know for a fact that i will never work under someone. I will always be some kind of buisness. Online or off.

True...to an extent. If he's good with his money, he would invest in other ventures that would pay off and never have to work again. That's the sign of a true entrepreneur and ofcourse, they don't teach that shit in college.

madpayzz 03-23-2006 12:54 PM

leave college right now! GFY is your only chance!

$5 submissions 03-23-2006 01:11 PM

I'd say try to do both. Finish college so you'll have a safety net. IMHO.

p]mpdogg 03-23-2006 01:15 PM

I may be gay, but I love all of you!

dbavaria 03-23-2006 01:30 PM

Stay in school, just because a few people are doing fine without a degree doesn't mean that the statistics are wrong. Also putting off college for "later" means you'll probably never go back anyways.

so what?...

Sosa 03-23-2006 01:54 PM

finish up with it and still do your online sites.

dissipate 03-23-2006 01:58 PM

This comes from personal experience. I'm working in this business while going to law school. Get through school man. I know it's a huge pain in your ass, but it's worth it. You have to figure that if you don't make it in this biz - you want to have somthing to fall back upon. If nothing else your formal education is going to make you better in this business.

not to mention the social aspect :thumbsup

I think it's actually the other way around, when you are young is really the only good time you can go to college, if you miss the boat, you can't really go back or at least it wouldn't be the same...

On the other hand if you have an entrepreneur mind, you can make money now, and in 5, 10 and 20 years from now... There is really nothing special about this decade, people became millionaires 20 years ago, and people will become millionaires in 20 years too, the only thing that changes is the means of getting there...

Manowar 03-23-2006 02:16 PM

Yeah, stay there dude

do you want to make money or spend it?

tranza 03-23-2006 02:24 PM

I had the same dilema last semester.

I decided to finish it since I only have 1 year and a half left.

looks like you suddenly have some problem with me so it makes this debate quite useless

but FYI where did I say about becoming a hippie? If you pity the people who work hard and concentrate just on money, then I tell you that getting the college experience ( both education and social wise ) can be an alternative in some way

just work less and continue college until you finish it, if you dont want to dedicate your whole life to work and dont put money above everything - that was my sugestion.........

ARS Bryan 03-23-2006 02:30 PM

fuck school and antis

Pornwolf 03-23-2006 02:37 PM

Do you know how many hot young bitches are in college?

Take advantage of the college lifestyle. It only comes around once. Live on or around campus. Enjoy it. You can always work online from school.

Trust me on this one. The education you get from college isn't just scholastic, it's social too. Too many webmasters are missing that part of things.

This was just towards that smartass comment, nothing more nothing less...

Notice my second post...I said I was considering focus more on my work instead college...not just drop it 100%

And life is more than a college degree and websites, that I can assure you.

That seems to be general opinion regarding this matter ;)

so true :thumbsup

MikesTraffic 03-23-2006 02:58 PM

I'm in college, this will probably be my last semester due to how my sites are doing. I don't care about social respect....you can buy a degree anywhere these days......colleges are filled with grade inflation (learned that in Economics) and in effect pecuniary ideas in mind, college is not a sound bet. The time spent in college could be spent working a second job, and the money spent on college could go towards the money market to bring more money in. Now if you want to look at non pecuniary ideas.....college enables you to work with people you most likely wont consider idiots. That's it. Every class I have been to directly states if you are in school to make more money or get a safety net, leave....it isn't worth it because anyone can buy a degree, and you spend so much on school, that the forfeited options of second jobs etc are a cost to high....

The Heron 03-23-2006 03:05 PM

Don't go to college for education, but fuck man you're only young once and able to get crazy drunk and party all the time. So I'd say enroll and go to classes to pickup sorority whores! Don't go to learn and continue to run your biz, with any luck around the time you become rich you'll also have impregnated a couple coed whores and life will be good!

We must have been separated at birth. LOL

How cool would that be... having a couple of hot co-eds pregnant on campus and sitting on a million. Bwahahaa
:pimp

The Demon 03-23-2006 03:37 PM

Yea, putting a longterm future on hold to maximize short term profit.. Very logical.

V_RocKs 03-23-2006 03:40 PM

I make more than a NeuroSurgeon so college can suck my dick.
