Cassie 03-15-2006 12:32 PM

i'd pay taxes all day long to bust these types of people and then i'd pay additional taxes to make sure they were found guilty and spent the rest of their living lives in general population. first stop should be rahway and they should be transfered to every other high max prision and placed in general population.

MontrealPimp 03-15-2006 12:35 PM

Get real! The Bush Admin are preoccupied with daily feedback on a war based on lies and covering their own asses on leaks, fraud allegations and plenty more shit.

CP and porn in general is a subject the Admin like to talk about in the hope they get some support within the electorate - along with proclaiming faith and all kinds of warped shit where there is hope this will appeal to the masses.

It was not by co-incidence that Gonzales made a statement on this particular police action today. Mr Gonzales is busy on other aspects of porn and making full use of the bangwagon to justify his case.

A government which has to be embarassed into giving up it's citizens for prosecution of child offenses committed in other nations is not a government interested in real child protection. The US DOJ is part of that government.

On the actual case resulting in at least 27 indivuduals being arrested - this was an operation covering several countries.

It is not an uncommon operation (despite the fact the govt felt the need to comment on it), and often is the result of individuals within law agencies who have been damned persistent and stayed on the case for, often years, before sucessfully building up an "association map" and acting.

Some of these law agency folks know exactly what CP means - seriously doubt most of us have a real clue. It extends to monitoring individuals suspected of child abduction and murder. There are guys walking on this planet who have had "associations" with children and those children are no longer with their parents at home, but suspected dead. The web of CP has no class boundaries - and can lead "anywhere", also crossing multiple jurisdictions.

Rather than give credit to a load of politicians, I'd rather give credit to the individuals in law agencies who actually kept on this case (and all the others), knowing the real meaning of CP and genuinely interested in the welfare of the minors involved. I know a couple of people who do this work, - and they are folks you could trust with your life if shit hit the fan - and little doubts, their prime interest is genuinely "the protection of children", not just as law folks, but as individuals.

Ironic! :winkwink:

The truth is laws already exist and they were implemented. 2257 (new) is just a plaything for politicians to claim successes on. The original version of 2257 has never been enforced to any degree - it's as impractical to enforce it fully as are the new proposals. All crap!

Brad Mitchell 03-15-2006 12:59 PM

Let's not give them too much credit. This shit has always been illegal, the fact that it goes on I would think we should be seeing news like this every month if they were really great at doing their job. I can only assume there are thousands of sick fucks in the US that trade this crap. Hopefully this is a sign of more to come and they will catch more pedos!! I'm happy to see any progress, it's when we don't see any activity that I get concerned.

Yes, and I like to also point out that they don't need any new laws to put these sickos in prison.. just need to enforce the ones on the books!

Brad

The Clinton administration was notably weak on online CP prosecutions, instead they gave us the 2257 law.

If the gov't deserves blame when things go wrong, then certainly they should deserve credit when they do right.

As an adult webmaster, I applaud the Bush administration's efforts to curb CP and regulate spam, and for working with us through the FSC to hammer out a reasonable version of 2257.

it's not the actual 'law' that's the problem. it's the insane regulations that were implemented by Ashcroft.

there's another version of '2257' that was just passed by the house. this is flying uner the radar. the current DOJ is not 'working with the FSC'.

What has this got to do with Clinton or Bush??

Ask any "pedo chaser" and they will tell ya their top concern in enabling them to do their job is lack of funding. Tho not all, the main reason politicians get involved in CP is to save their sorry asses and gain popularity.

The day a US Admin actually addresses the issue of US citizens committing offenses against children in other countries and agrees to hand over bodies for trial in these countries - is the day I'll give them credit.

The last and first instance of that actually happening took over two years of work and pressuring by two guys, cumulating in threats of embarassment internationally unless they did hand over a US citizen. Of course they gave in on the 11th hour and the perp was eventually convicted and jailed abroad.

Since when was the US govt "working with us through the FSC"? :1orglaugh The US govt don't give a fuck about "us" - they have their own agenda and incase you never noticed, - are currently working on another angle to over-ride their court problems concerning 2257.

Yes, the 'law' is a problem. It was so bad that the DOJ had never done a single 2257 inspection when Congress passed a statute requiring Ashcroft & the DOJ in 2004 to revise the regulations.

So yes, I also applaud Ashcroft for not making any 2257 inspections, and for the DOJ finding ways to prosecute CP without resorting to 2257 prosecutions. :thumbsup

In Chicago, three defendants were charged with conspiracy to possess, receive, solicit and distribute child pornography in a seven-count indictment returned yesterday by a federal grand jury in the Northern District of Illinois. A fourth defendant was charged separately in a related indictment. The conspiracy indictment against Brian A. Annoreno, of Bartlett, Illinois, Gregory J. Sweezer, of Aurora, Illinois, and Lisa A. Winebrenner, of Osceola, Iowa, alleges that they - together with the other 24 individuals, all using screen names - accessed the chat room from computers around the world and participated in the chat room through chats and file-sharing.
