GFY Guys and Gals, I need your help...

I just had an idea and I want some input. I see a lot of people that, for whatever reasons, find it difficult to make good money online; not just in Adult. So I have decided to come up with a kind of how-to project online. Basically, I am going to set a goal (more on that in a minute) and document (real-time) exactly how/what I do in order to reach that goal. I am going to start out this project with the bare minimum: my personal workstation, my creativity, and that's about it. I will not be using any "seed money" to get started nor will I be using any of my own money, credit lines, etc. If I need money for something (like a server), I will have to earn the money (and I will be documenting exactly what I did to earn that money) to pay for it. My hope is that I may be able to inspire some people who have been struggling or give some new ideas/strategies to those who are having a difficult time making ends meet on their own.

Now then, I have decided to set the bar relatively high for this little project and make the goal something very motivating... a "high-dollar" (under $100k) vehicle. My only problem is that I can't decide on the vehicle (my initial thought is a Porsche 911). Here's where I would like your input GFY: If you were going to buy a vehicle (new or used) for under $100k, what would it be? Porsche, Viper, Mercedes, Maserati, etc.?

I'd go for an Audi. Something not everyone is already tooling around town in.

An A8 would be right up my alley.

Not a bad idea; I think I may want something a little sportier though, but I will go look at the A8 and see what they offer. Thanks for the input :winkwink:

Very noble idea... I hope you do inspire some people on (and off) GFY. :thumbsup

If I might make a suggestion: Try to make sure people understand that every situation is different and that there are no cookie-cutter paths to success... what happens along the way in your experience will most likely differ, perhaps profoundly, with what they encounter. So the most important skill that they need to develop is being resourceful. And that may be the dealbreaker... since many people find it difficult to navigate through the unexpected.:2 cents:

But heck... it's worth a try!

Enjoy your new car! (Personally, I would go with an Aston-Martin.) :D

You make some very good points! All situations are different and there NO easy or guaranteed paths to success. I'm hoping that by trying to document everything online as it happens that maybe some people will see what it takes and what kinds of obstacles you have to overcome, but most of all I just want to try to encourage some people to expand their horizons, aim a little higher and go after their dreams (while still being somewhat realistic). :)

Also, nice choice. An Aston would be nice (probably pre-owned depending on current prices).

Well, if you're trying to show people how to make something happen, maybe up the ante a bit and go for the gusto: make it a true challenge to yourself! :2 cents:

Or... get an Audi. :winkwink:

stickyfingerz 03-09-2006 11:07 AM

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee srt8 is under 40k. Im very interested in this. You should do it as a mentor thing. :winkwink: Teach me and I split half with you. :thumbsup

Actually, that one is also on the list. :winkwink:

I think I am going to narrow down the vehicle list a little bit. Since I already have the Spyder, I don't really need a "trophy car". The price is still anything under $100k, but I am going to make this vehicle my new daily driver so I want it to be something that I can put miles on without putting it in the shop every other month...

Actually, I'm setting the time frame as "before the end of the year" (2006) but personally I will be shooting for 6 months... :Graucho

That's a good idea. I couldn't decide if I wanted to just build a new site for this or just do it on a blog. I think I will probably do it on a blog and also have a small board so that people can ask questions, etc. if they want to. :thumbsup

EdgeXXX 03-09-2006 11:40 AM

k, here is what I have on the list of finalists so far:

Audi RS 4
BMW M6 (if available)
Porsche 911
Dodge Viper SRT-10
Cadillac Escalade
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
Chrysler 300C SRT-8
Chevrolet Trailblazer SS

Anything else you think should go on the list?

EdgeXXX 03-09-2006 11:58 AM

Ok, this is probably a stupid question but maybe not:

"Are the new Maseratis (GranSport or Coupe) even close to reliable?"

EdgeXXX 03-09-2006 12:32 PM

Ok, first things first. If I am going to record everything on a blog, I'm guessing I'll need some sort of blog software. What do you guys that run blogs recommend (wordpress, etc)? Please keep in mind that even though I am a quick learner, blogs are one of the choice subjects that I don't know shit about; so any and all advice is appreciated. :)

EdgeXXX 03-09-2006 12:46 PM

**Bump for some blog info**

Tell you what if you do the Grand Cherokee srt8 and post everything as you go Ill do the same thing on one of my blogs and follow you step for step. Imagine if we both buy the same vehicle in the same time frame. Then you can write a book and get lots of free press. :winkwink:

Nice idea Edge. Keep us posted because I'd be quite interested to see how it progresses.
